I have already booked two types of rooms which are 1 間標準日式客房 - 禁煙 and 1 間客房(兩床) - 有私人浴室/禁煙. I recommend you should book 1 間客房(兩床) - 有私人浴室/禁煙. if the price is same. Buffet dinner is very good. Breakfast is so so only. location is very good. you arrive the lake only 5 mins by walked. you can stay in restaurant to watch firework at 2010. onsen is very good

I travelled japan more than 14 times and far and wide. I have certain high expectations of japan ryokan and food. The buffet dinner and breakfast here have a good variety and high quality. My picky husband actually love the buffet. You really look forward to eating. The onsen here have many facilities too. We will definitely stay here again! Already thinking when to come back. Booked it for $400 for 2 pax. The only Sad thing is valet parking cost ¥400. Near the lake and ferry. Good location

Nice Hotel in Akan”
Visited Lake Akan for the second time. Choose this hotel due to close proximity to the tourist attractions. Overall very satisfied with the Superior twin room. Very quiet, private room. Clean and spacious room. This section has hot water for foot treatment, really great after long day driving and walking. My wife enjoyed it so much. Dinner was great with a wide selection of food. I ate quite a bit of delicious Japanese meals. The tempura was amazing! Hotel staff was polite from the entrance to the hotel all the way to the dining. Overall very happy with our stay!

I stayed in a Japanese Western Room and seems it is newly renovated. The hotel is not new but the room is great. The hotel staff could speak little English. The room rates include breakfast and Buffet dinner. Food is great. But the restaurant is very big and you feel a bit busy and can't really relax like in a Ryokan.

Nice but crowded roykan with not so professional staff”
Several things that bothered us during our three-day stay there: 1. Even though we had a non-smoking room, we could smell the cigarettes in the hallway and sometimes in our room. We complained this situation THREE TIMES to the front desk but it didn’t seem like the staff did anything effective. 2. It’s the end of the year so the Hotel was packed with guests. But we don’t think it’s acceptable to have a long line of people waiting for the buffet breakfast even though we already paid so much money for a good “experience.” The restaurant manage ended up apologizing to us but still you would want to hold the hotel to a higher standard considering how expensive to stay there. I have personally been to many roykans in Japan and I am sad to say that I will not be back for this one.

Hotel in general is very good and well decorated for an onsen hotel. My complain was that Agoda and/agent made big mistake with the size of the room along with the price published in Agoda website. At check in, we were given a room half the size of the original reservation. When we complained the size discrepancy, the 2 Japanese check in counter staff were so rude and said that it was our problem to straighten it out with Agoda. They even told us that the room size that we reserved originally does not exist in the hotel. They certainly did not offered any help and did give us the feeling that we were trying to gain some advantage without paying for it. The experience was humiliating. Finally, they offered help in contacting Agoda only after we proved to them that Agoda did have the room size published in their website.

good hotel, but no ryokan, food a bit simple”
Many Asian tourists who want to see snow. Thus, dinner and breakfast are buffet not typical ryokan meals. after 3 days and absolutely no change in the buffet, it gets a bit boring. The hot bath is very good with many different bathes and sauna, and switch between men and women bath every 24 hours. The room was a bit disappointing. The picture on Agoda showed lake view but we had a rather loud room to the parking lot. All in all good hotel, slightly overpriced in the winter due to tourist hordes from Asia.
