Good but basic backpacker hotel, great location”

Friendly and helpful staff, close to Khao San Road but far enough away to be in a more relaxed day to day environment . Great cafes and bars in this area!

Basic but clean room. The cold only showers are a god send in the heat and humidity of Bangkok! The staff at the Amazing House were very welcoming, friendly and helpful and made our stay in this no frills hotel. We really enjoyed the location as its close to Khao San without being in the middle of the area and found it easy to visit many of the attractions of Bangkok due to its proximity to the river boats, Tuk Tuks and Taxi's. Local cafes and restaurants had great atmosphere and food. Would definitely return for budget accommodation.

Not amazing, but convenient, basic Khaosan homebase”

Terrific service but in limited English, cheap laundry nearby, walking distance to Khao San, friendly receptionist

Quite clean compared to many places, didn't feel at all icky. Shared bathrooms with cold water but, unfortunately, no waste baskets inside and no toilet paper provided. The rooms are quite tiny, but their biggest flaw is the complete lack of hooks and drying racks (wet towel, anybody?). Table space is very, very limited also (no closet), so be prepare to dump your stuff on the floor. You may have to ask to get towels or blankets; they forgot ours both times. Some rooms do not have curtains to cover all windows. To counterbalance that, our AC and in-room wifi worked wonderfully and the receptionist helped us gratuitously by retrieving our laundry while we were out of country and storing them for us for a month, no charge! He also let us hang out in the dining room all day after check-out and even shower, as we waited for our night flight! Sometimes, when their kitchen is open, they do very cheap and quite tasty Thai food! Cheapest order of soda in a restaurant known to man. Coming from Myanmar's backpacking places though, this place felt almost a little heaven, shortcomings and all. We've been traveling SE-Asia on a backpacker budget for 6 months. - Transportation tip: Bus 15 from Ratchadamnoen Road or Sam Sen Road (by Banglampu Market) links you to the National Stadium or Siam BTS for about 7 baht. Bus 15 also takes you directly to the malls at Siam (MBK, Central World etc.), the Lumpini Park and Red Cross Society (for cheap vaccinations) and the Silom Road (hindu temple Wat Kak + nearby embassies). Just do NOT travel during rush hour, as the traffic at the Democracy Monument can grind to a halt for more than an hour!

Good value, good location”

Location and Price

The double turned out to be a single with no blanket but this was fine for me as I am a solo traveler and the room was a pleasant temperature. The walls were thin so I could hear my neighbors conversation but as this guest house is not a late night place it really wasn't bothersome at all, just normal chit chat for a short time. The place was a little hard to find but once you have the location it's just 5 mins from Khao San Rd and away from the crowds but close enough to nip in out out of the action. Basic but clean accommodation with cold shower. Overall great value and I would stay again. Fantastic vegetarian food in the restaurant opposite with a Massaman Curry to die for.

it is quite good and suitable for backpacker”

very near Khao San road (5 mins walk), friendly and helpful staffs, best price ever for solo, near Grand Palace and Wat Pho, Chao Phraya

The room is small, and very basic. If you just need a place to sleep at night, this hostel is suitable because of its price, location. Share bathroom is no problem. Its very cleaned. But the only one problem is the wall is too thin, if someone walk out there, or talking in the next rooms, its a bit noisy.

Great value away from Khao San!”

Location, wifi, low price

Great location, close to khao San if you want to go there for anything but it was in a quieter area with plenty of restaurants, bars, massage salons, etc. Personally, I preferred being away from the chaos of Khao San. Very basic rooms but they are clean and they provide you with a towel and soap. Wifi even worked in the upstairs rooms. No complaints, great value for your money!

cheap, good location, nice staff

This is my first hotel to stay in Bangkok. And it's pretty darn good. It has good location, so close to Khaosan Road. Which is only about 10 minutes by walking. But I think the room is to dark, I feel not so comfortable to stay here more than a night. But it's worthed for its price.

I agreed that i could hear others from the bedroom next to mine but that didnt bother me. Yes, i could hear the noise from the queit street (i had the room with a window) but still that didnt bother me. What bothered me is that i could make noise because could here like rocking the bed!. Budget accommodation for short overnight stay”

walking distance to food eateries

suitable for short overnight stay if you're not too fussy about the condition of this place. price-wise,it's still affordable when compared to other 1-star or even 2-star accommodation within its locality. however, the only setback is that there's food stall blaring loud music opposite it throughout the night if you're occupying the front room, and need to retire early to bed. really, there's nothing "amazing" about this budget lodging - literally speaking, and you certainly won't find an extra "nail" in your room. in other words, the room has only the bare necessities for you to rest your weary head and feet for the night, and nothing more. friendly staff. overall, the place is of average cleanliness.

A friendly enthusiastic boss, that's imagination that I can't forget. I feel satisfied when I stay at here. If you want to know information about visiting, shopping, eating, playing, etc..., you can ask the boss, owner of this guesthouse. When I want to visit Grand Palace (it's near this guesthouse about 1 km by foot), I ask him what I should do. Air conditioning; cheap; laundry on-site

It's definitely a pay for what you get hotel. The bathrooms are shared-which was not a problem. No hot water-but you won't want it anyway with the heat. The staff was not particularly friendly, but answered our questions. I wouldn't recommend eating breakfast at the hotel, it's not worth the price. I can't speak for dinner, because we never tried it. The rooms were simple; I would bring your own sleeping bag or sheet. Definitely would recommend paying extra for the air-con.

horrible hotel!”

cold water, good location, soap in the shower...

By far, it was the worst stay, so far, in SE Asia. It was SO hot in the room, the others guests were SO loud & noisy...totally disrespectful of other guests at 5 & 6 in the morning & @ midnight/late night. The walls were paper thin so, I could hear every conversation on the floor...not just the room next to me. The walls & doors were filthy, badly in need of a wash down or, a fresh coat of pait to cover up the years of dirt on the doors & walls. For the price, do yourself a favor & get a room for the same price, with a/c or a window!!! It was 33 -35 degrees in Bangkok when I was there. Such a miserable way to spend one's vacation. The room fee is non-refundable for a good reason...if it were not, everyone would bail after the first night. I am not a picky person but, I went by the comments on Agoda put there as reviews by others. This hotel is not worth $5.00 per night and, don't let anyone convince you otherwise. I would never stay there again & would not consider recommending others to stay there...
