Excellent”

I stayed at The Ambassador Hotel Mumbai for one week and it was a real treat to embrace this old world jewel in South Mumbai. This is a heritage hotel in the same ranks as the George V Paris or Royal York Toronto, rooms have been renovated in a tasteful manner. The manager Mister Vaibhav Pai is a very professional fellow who goes out of his way to accommodate reasonable requests to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The hotel has an excellent 24 hour restaurant where Mister Sandeep Kumar greets you with a smile upon entrance and converses with you multiple times during your meal to make sure everything is top notch, his service is what makes the dining experience truly enjoyable. The hotel has a full view of the Brabourne Stadium, which is great when a match is on, and also has a partial Marine Drive water view. I am very happy to give this hotel a high review because it was different in a good way to what I'm used to in a hotel stay.

I had stayed for a considerable time along with a friend of mine at the Ambassador, Mumbai. The 4 star rated property is a part of the chain of heritage hotels, managed by the Narang group. It is conveniently located within a walking distance from the surreal & beautiful 'Queen's Necklace' i.e., the Marine drive near the Churchgate junction. The hotel has a magnificent and old English type lobby with beautiful chandeliers adorning the walls. Valet parking is available. Greeted with warm smiles, the whole check-in was handled with ease by the staff. We were booked on a room on the eight floor with a partial view of the sea, on request. The room was spacious, clean with a mix of modern and old fittings. A simple English type wardrobe with a locker, lcd television with a huge list of cable channels, plug points adaptable to international needs and a spacious bathroom with a tub are standard for the room, which is a deluxe category one. Strangely the mini bar is missing as we were told that the hotel doesn't have a license to serve alchol in the room. During our stay, we were pleasantly pleased with the house keeping services provided. The staff adhered to our each and every needs with a smile. Same goes for the in-room dining. The menu is limited though, with Indian and continental cuisine on offer. There are two restaurants located on the ground floor. Flavors is the buffet serving restaurant and Society is their a la carte restaurant. Breakfast buffet spread is very good serving Indian & continental fare. The one issue I had was with the sambar gravy which was on the sweeter side, but it is subjective as some do prefer the sambar that way. All items are prepared with less oil and there are options for those who prefer fruits & cereals for breakfast. The quality of food served is excellent, especially the tandoor appetizers. I had one of the best & succulent mutton seekh kababs and tandoori prawns over here. Equally admirable are their grilled chicken served with mash

Great hospitality, location ”

Me and my 78 year old mom, we really enjoyed our stay at this great hotel, at really great location. We are very grateful to Tabish. A. Khatik for welcoming us to the hotel and providing us with the best room available to accommodate my mom. Grateful to Raghu, the waiter at the Restaurant for providing impeccable service to me my Mom and my two guests. Last but not least I was really touched by the restaurant's bathroom attendant Mr. Anant Those, how caringly he assisted my mom to reach the bathroom since my mom is in a wheelchair. He is a true asset to the hotel. Overall experience was very pleasant and the stay at this great location was relaxing!!! Thank you all, without any reservations I would recommend Ambassador Hotel Marine Drive to anyone visiting Mumbai!!!

Great central location for tourists”

We spent 3 days in Mumbai and found the location of this hotel to be the best for us, even after reviewing our choice post tour stay. We were out sightseeing most of the day and in the evening Marine drive walk and many various restaurants were within minutes of the hotel. Although the in-house restaurant is in par with any nearby. India gate (Colba) is 5 minutes by cab costing 50-100 rupees. Churchgate station is 5 minute walk. The staff were almost too friendly, in a good way! very helpful and attentive which i found lacking in a number of similar hotels. For the standard it is excellent value for money, I would almost certainly return.

Excellent”

Hotel Ambassador at Church Gate, Mumbai off the marine drive is good heritage hotel. Location is superb though not directly on the Marine Drive. Many decent restaurant nearby. Ambiance in the Hotel lobby is excellent. Rooms are spacious and clean. However the cozyness seems to be missing a bit as compared to other hotels of similar price ranges. Dining is good and breakfast food quality is very good though it can improve on the variety.

Good, Clean, Simple and adequate”

I enjoyed my stay. Reception were helpful and very friendly, I checked in within 6 minutes. There is free wi fi in the lobby and its around 526 rupees for the access from the room for 24 hours. 135 rupees for one hour. I visited during the Monsoon period and found that this was easier than crossing the street to the Asiatic store cyber cafe. The location is excellent. Breakfast was buffet and this was a small area with around 5 breakfast dishes to choose from including chicken sausages. Pastries and museli were available and juice from the juice display. Overall I liked it and I will stay again the next time Im in Mumbai as its the most flexible location to get around from.

A Grand Hotel!”

My wife and I had the pleasure of residing at "The Ambassador" for a second time and cannot praise how happy and satisfied we were during our stay at this grand hotel. Everything about "The Ambassador" is grand in every way - from the smiling and helpful doorman who greeted us on arrival, the well presented reception personnel who welcomed us with grace and good manners, and all the members of the staff who went out of their way to please us and comply with all our requests. It was a real pleasure to stay at The Ambassador, and we look forward to re-visiting it in the near future. We strongly recommend all visitors to lodge at this fabulous hotel and avail of all of the great qualities and facilities - they will not be disappointed!

Exceptional”

We had the pleasure of staying in this hotel for 5 nights with our children and elderly mum. It was one of the best stays we had in the hotel. The staff are very friendly and the breakfast is delicious. No request is too big. My wife wanted to try indian delicacies from different region, she received everything her heart desire just in breakfast as the choices are extensive. On the last night we also went to dine at flavours which is the restaurant and the thai green curry was to die for. Still can taste it while writing this review. The hotel is located very close to marine drive and we would walk for an hour every morning before breakfast just to admire the view. We will surely come back.

Good Location, Clean Room & Great Staff”

I checked in late about 4pm and friendly staff was on hand to attend to me. Lobby not too big, aged but still showing some old grandeur vs the more impressive exterior facade. After an initial confusion with the Agoda voucher, everything was settled down. And I was offered, and a bellhop ( been working there for 30 years ) brought me to view 2 different rooms to decide which is better. I chose the 5th floor room simply because there is a Fitness room (converted hotel room c/w 2 treadmills, 1 universal bench )nearby. It's an big enough executive room with breakfast included, usual amenities ( TV still old cathode tube )& importantly clean, rounding up USD160 after taxes. Wifi available but you hv to pay 160+ rupiah for 1 hr or 560+ rupiah for 1 day. Wanted to try their top revolving restaurant but heard that it has been down for a while. If u really need free wifi, suggest go to nearby posh SaltWater Cafe (3 mins sidewalk), get a meal and get your free wifi. Great food/staff & decor advantgarde. Ambassador's within walking distance to the Marine drive & MGR road market. All the scenic/touristy Mumbai spots can be reached easily fm hotel, just take your pick from myriad of everyready taxi cabs. There's even a guy who always around and had appeared on National Geographic US$100 cab driver show. Prepare to do a bit of friendly-nego everywhere and you won't go wrong. Just be nice and friendly and everyone responds in kind to you. In fact, got myself invited to a private happening party hosted by a great drink company that evening simply by being friendly. Next morning breakfast was ok with a good spread in a cafe with a huge screen ever showing cricket games/talkshows & Bollywood MTVs.Late checkout at 4pm was no problem at all, and settled quickly. All-in-all, it may be on the high side, but I would probably drop by again. Need cheaper lodgings same location? U can consider the hotel right beside it Chateau Windsor with rates probably half of Ambassador.Cheers!

Good, old-fashioned hotel in a good location.”

Business travellers to Mumbai need to be careful about their choice of hotel simply because the traffic can be so heavy and journeys by taxi from A to B so slow, that it really pays to choose a hotel conveniently situated to business appointment schedules. I chose the Ambassador primarily because of its proximity to many of my planned appointments, but nevertheless, although old-fashioned, it is also a decent 4 star type of hotel, with very good dining facilities, excellent food and good breakfasts. No doubt it is surpassed in terms of luxury and modern conveniences by rival and more expensive hotels, but it is in a street with several acceptable restaurants and it is also close to Marine drive where strolling next to ocean is pleasant. In terms of value for money, in my opinion the Ambassador is really quite difficult to beat. The service in the restaurant is inclined to be slow, but this is not unexpected in India.

Great hotel in a great location”

An excellent hotel for a business trip to Mumbai. Staff were very helpful, rooms were clean and well maintained. Breakfast options were a little limited, but the location, directly opposite Brabourne Stadium just off marine drive well and truly made up for it!

Affordable, comfortable, friendly”

I love this hotel due to its location and will always stay there when in Mumbai the only issue is breakfast which was limited, after 2 days I was informed espresso was no longer part of the breakfast and I would have to pay for this. This is unusual as breakfast usually includes a decent coffee.

Awesome Stay with good food”

Stay was very good. Few of the staff were really helpful. One of them was Mayuri, and she helped me arrange perfect dinner for my parents anniversary. Breakfast was having too many options for veg and non-veg. Location of the hotel was remarkable as it was next to Marine drive. Perfect location, perfect breakfast so I can say perfect stay.

Ambassador Hotel Mumbai”

This would be the safest hotel to take considering the very expensive rates of the hotels in Mumbai. The location is very nice, right on the main road in front of the see and very safe and many retaurants and shops. However if you do not need to stay downtown and your business will be in a another location choose a hotel near your meetings, because the traffic is horrendous. Also make sure they give you a nice room, because at first they gave me a very small single room and I made a fuss and they gave me a huge single, which was really nice and spacious. Overall it is a safe choice.

Truely a 4 star hotel with a 5 star service”

The 3 weeks I stayed at the Ambassador Hotel was an experience I will not forget. From day one to the last day, I received excellent customer service. The hotel staff were very friendly and polite. The hotel was very clean and my deluxe room was large and comfortable with a warm decor. The hotel was located off Marine Drive and Nariman Point. Only a 10 minutes drive to the Gate of India. My sincere thanks to the Police, Security Staff and the Hotel Staff more making my stay a pleasant one.

Lovely Hotel”

Our stay was massively enhanced by the excellent staff at this hotel. Every one of the staff were fantastic and extremely helpful. This alone should be sufficient to pick this hotel for your stay in Mumbai!

good location near churchgate train station ”

i liked the ceiling ventlator that exist in the room, in addition to the usual a/c system the hotel is near the marine drive beach but there is no view of the beach from the room. across the street there is a cricket stadium. my room, in the back stayed very quite even when a turnir were going on at the stadium. reach breakfest buffet, friendly staff, I'll come back to this hotel on my next stay in Bombay

Super Location”

Located on the Marine Drive next to Churchgate Railway Station, this property has got everything a business traveller wants. Rooms are spacious, staff are courteous. Though it is a very old property, it is well maintained. I didn't tried food during my short stay.

Clean and cheery room, hospitable staff”

Only there for overnite but were able to spend a few hours in Mumbai. We were walking distance to the beach and Victoria station. Took a stroll around the area and the staff arranged for our sight-seeing tour back to the airport.

Hotel is good It could be clenaer rooms had dust especially around curtains and windows and beds are not of good quality They are hard There is no hotel shuttle for transportation from airport which I think they should provide Iwe paid 100 US dollars a. Night and thought we should get higher quality Staff are good and helpful but one point they were painting a room next door and did not tell us and we were breathing paint for few hours They attended once we complained buu they should be aware of guests in the hotel The restaurant at top is not open Which was a highlight of this place The location of this hotel is very good It’s right on marine drive so very accessible Overall it’s good to stay No issues on security or behavioral from staff or guests Hope this helps
