Wonderful Accomodations”

Beautiful view of surrounding forest in our deluxe room with private hot spring bath. Authentic Japanese meals were artfully prepared, fresh and delicious. The staff was amazing and we felt like VIPs throughout our stay. My husband and I both had massages at the spa and they were excellent. Tipping is not customary in Japan, but this staff deserved tips more than anyone we have ever encountered and it felt wrong not tipping. So, we will at least leave this complimentary review so they know we experienced five star service all the way around. We enjoyed our stay - truly the best accommodations on our 19-day trip. Cannot say enough good things about Hakone Hotel Manatei.

Exceptional”

The meals and service are both wonderful! We are vegetarian, and the hotel prepared big and hearty meals for us, including breakfast and dinner. We enjoyed it very much! Besides, Hakone Hotel Manatei is near the Kowakidani Station and Hakone Open-Air Museum; the attendant can pick up customers in station and drive customers to the museum, it's a very good service! We had a pleasant memory in Hakone Hotel Manatei!

Exceeded our Expectations!”

Our stay at the Hakone Hotel Manatei exceeded our expectations! The staff went above and beyond in making this a memorable stay at their hotel. Although the staff spoke very little English, they prepared our dinner menus in English and did their best to answer our questions by using the Internet. They assisted us with our sightseeing plans and even shuttled us to the train station whenever we needed to use the train. Having the onsen in our room was a real plus. We highly recommend this hotel and plan to return.

Great ryokan to enjoy hakone”

My girlfriend and I stayed here for a night night trip to hakone. The hotel is located at about a 40 mins bus ride from Odawara station and is decently situated near the major hakone attractions. We got the twin room which was very nice and spacious. There are 3 private onsen that any guests can access with no reservation. Would recommend this hakone manatei to anyone looking for a nice ryokan in the area!

Friendly and helpful hotel staff”

We gave a highest rating to Hakone Hotel Manatei in regard to friendly and helpful hotel staff, room cleanliness and good food dining. One small issue is the accessibility from Owakudani station to hotel. You cannot walk from the train station to the hotel since there is no side walk on the road, and is very dangerous to walk side by side with passing traffic, especially when you carry luggage. You have to take taxi or call the hotel for pickup.

breathtaking views, Private onsen in the room~”

The staff is very friendly and polite, I would like to express my gratitude to a gentleman who show us the room and even send us to Gora Station which we didn't expect( the service is so outstanding and impressive) ; The hotel is new and well renovated, The room is spacious with private onsen; Both dinner and breakfast are tasty, the only disadvantage is that the hotel is located a bit far away from the Kowakidani Station (walk about 15-20 mins), but hotel provides the free shuttle bus service to the Kowakidani Statio In overall. we are very satisfied with our stay in Hakone Hotel Manatei, we will come back again~~

A special place”

We loved Manatei Hakone Hotel. From the moment we walked in and changed into the traditional Japanese clothing provided, we were taken to a different world. Onsen, dinner, breakfast (even craft beer)! Wonderful!

Relaxing time at Hakone Manatei”

Room overlooking the stream/river was spectacular. Room was comfortable and onsen was great! Meals were also very good. I would definitely return to Hakone Hotel Manatei someday.

Incredible experience”

Our stay here was incredible! It simply could not have been better. The staff was extremely attentive and helpful, and we had exceptional service. We got a suite room with a private onsen and it was absolute perfection. Clean, a very reasonable size, very comfortable, and the bathroom was beautiful. Coming back from a day of hiking and using the shower and onsen was wonderful. The food deserves its own section. Eating breakfast and dinner at the hotel (which are both included) was the highlight of our trip. We ate at very nice restaurants during our stay in Japan, including Hyotei, Ryugin, and Kikunoi, but as crazy as it sounds, the food at Hotel Manatei absolutely belongs in that category. This was not something we expected at all, but really added to the incredible experience that we had here. We will definitely be back, and if you're reading this, I highly recommend booking here.

Lovely, Relaxing Hakone Accommodation ”

We loved the Hotel Manatei and had a wonderful one night stay. We opted for the room with the private Onsen and highly recommend. Our room was very large and comfortable and the onsen bath was heavenly after a long day of travel. We also opted for the half board, which included the kaiseki dinner and Japanese breakfast - both meals were wonderful. The dinner was probably our best meal in our two week Japan stay. The hotel staff were very warm and friendly and spoke English well enough. We wished we had booked two nights at this great place.

Amazing Stay with Vegetarian Kaiseki Dinner and Breakfast”

My main reason for choosing Manatei was that they could accommodate vegetarian meal with no fish/seafood as my family and I are all vegetarian. The vegetarian kaiseki dinner and breakfast were amazing! The hotel was conveniently located near Jatsuno bus stop. (Make sure the bus driver knows to stop at Jatsuno bus stop! Our bus driver past it by one stop. Luckily, the next stop over was within 10 minutes of walking.) They also have 3 private onsen for use free of charge. We went during autumn foliage season. The mountain view from our room was beautiful.

Bus stop from Odawara station is right by hotel, purchased a Hakone free pass and used it for transportation to & from hotel plus sightseeing. Hotel staff spoke english and were very accommodating. We had a room with a private onsen, what an amazing experience! We could step out on the balcony and see the river flowing by, just totally restful. Dinner & breakfast was amazing, food & service was excellent. I would suggest you pick-up any special drinks or snacks at Odawara station before arriving at the hotel as there is nothing within walking distance. However, the hotel does have vending machines & free coffee throughout the day. Would definitely stay here again if we have a chance to go back to Hakone.

New Hotel Ever”

I can hardly believe there's such a great hotel in the world. It's so relaxing and exhilarating to stay here. Staffs are so nice that you almost feel at home. The traditional Japanese Style dinner and breakfast is delicate and delicious. The big wooden window in my room is my favorite and the mountain view outside is gorgeous. Taking bath here is also joyful. The hotel provide all kind of beauty products. I really enjoy the situation that you don't need to worry about anything. BTW, the bathrobe is so cute. I really appreciate all staffs in Manatei. Thank you all for bringing me such a great experience. I feel at home with you. Hope I can come back here again.

Excellent services. A+ facilities & food”

We are a family of three with a 12 years old. We stayed at the Premium Suite for two nights and it is a fantastic experience. We arrived early around 1 pm just want to leave our luggage, to our surprise, we are able to check in right away. The guest manager gave us very detail plan for our afternoon & the next day's sight seeing. The driver drove us to the Picasso Open Air museum without charge, so we managed to arrive there y 3 o'clock & have enough time to see the whole place ! The food there is amazing, especially the dinner at the first night. They have 8 courses and it was delicious & the portion was just right. The onsen inside the room is awesome, the temperature is just right & the hot tub will fit in a family of 4 ( about 5 feet diameter ). The futon sitting area is also big enough to sleep two more adults. The price might seem steep but when you take out $100 for food per person per day, the price is about right for Hakone, I highly recommend this hotel for families stay.

Nice luxury hot spring hotel”

Hotel is easily accessible by public transport. It is only about 15 minutes from main Hakone-Yumoto station by bus, and a 3-minute walk from the nearest bus stop. The hotel also provides free pickup and drop-off at the nearest train station. Our room has a very nice en-suite wooden hot spring bath, which overlooks the mountains. 3 private hot spring baths are free to use by guests. Staff were very helpful and tried their best to attend to our requests, although most of them can only speak limited English. Downside of staying at this hotel is that there is no shopping or dining options available nearby by foot, and that wi-fi is not available in the room.

Wonderful experience”

Service was excellent! We took the Hakone Tozan Train and called them at the phone booth right in front of the station for shuttle service. Shuttle arrived less than 5 mins. They kindly upgraded our room. We had an amazing view and private onsen in the suite. The scenery was surreal. Food was awesome and we had wonderful time during our stay. Staying in this hotel gave us a perfect ending to our Japan trip.

A very lovely hotel”

We booked a suite with private spring bath for 2 nights. The staff were very friendly and helpful, our breakfast and dinner were AWESOME! Although the hotel is not at the town area, we enjoyed the peaceful and lovely surrounding. Easy to move around Hakone by bus, train, cable car and ropeway. Bus stop is just 1 minute walk from hotel and train station is about 10 mins walk. Highly recommend this hotel! They don't have many rooms so better book early to avoid disappointment! :)

Not once have a given a perfect rating among all the hotels i have stayed before. But Manatei is truly deserving. From location to customer service and the hotel facilities, worth every penny.

Exceptional”

Everyone has to stay in Hakone at least for one night. It’s a nice getaway from the big cities. Bus ride from Odawara station brings you literally right across from the hotel. Staff was great and spoke English very well. It’s worth it to get your own onsen in the room so you can use it whenever you would like. The temperature was perfect. We enjoyed dinner and breakfast. I wished we stayed one more night.
