Spacious and comfortable room”

Nice and comfortable hotel, private Onsen and good location

We enjoyed our stay in Ashinoko Ichinoyu Hotel. Hotel is about 8-10 minutes walk from Togendai Ropeway station through a short cut. Our room was spacious with comfortable beds. The breakfast was nice. Each room can enjoy the private outdoor onsen for 40 minutes. Just need to write down the room number on the board at the reception to book the time. Autumn is a good time to visit Hakone. It's really beautiful with the leaves turning red.

Nice Ryokan in a quiet location.”

Ability to reserve a private Onsen, Friendly and attentive hotel staff, size and comfort of rooms

We enjoyed our stay at the Ashinoko Ichinoyu hotel. It's about an hour bus ride from Odawara station. We took a recommended short cut through University Hotel's parking lot which resulted in a shorter 5-minute walk from Togendai bus stop. The hotel itself was clean and comfortable. Rooms were larger than most Japan hotels. Our package included a free breakfast and a Japanese-style dinner that was reasonable at around 2000 JPY per person. We chose the additional Sea Bream and that was awesome!! We did reserved a private Onsen for after dinner. The hotel itself is a bit far from the Odawara Station, but it is in a good location if taking the Hakone round trip course. From Togendai Station (a 5-minute walk from the hotel) you can access the Tozan Bus, Ropeway or the sightseeing ship. Overall we were completely satisfied with our stay and felt we got a good value for our money. We would definitely stay here again.

Quite Far but Worth the Trip”

Rooms were spacious (than the Tokyo hotels); hot baths (public and private) were exceptional. Relaxed and had a good night sleep.

getting there: better to take the paid bus (not covered by the hakone free pass) of y900+ and the hotel should be on your quick right at the bus stop (just mention to the driver where you're getting off). the one covered by the hakone free pass takes you 15-mins walk and can be very confusing for first timers, also, especially when you arrive late in the afternoon. location: walking distance to togendai main station which connects you to the ropeway, tozan buses and gotenba outlet bus. room/bath: room is quite spacious, with japanese table and welcome red bean pastry. the baths are within the hotel and private baths are scheduled, much to our delight! also did the public bath and it was just as nice. though, hakone, and the hotel is quite far, would love to unwind and visit again.

I had a discount price on agoda for this hotel 2 people with dinner and breakfast for only 14,000 yen can't believe the price is super cheap without sacrificing the quality to be honest the location of this hotel isn't so convenient, but this is definitely the greatest experience I had during my trip in Japan there are private bathroom, public Onsen bathroom, and also an open air Onsen you can reserve for private usage super traditional Japanese style breakfast and shabu shabu dinner with free alcohol(beer and Sake) I would for sure come back next time if I visit Hakone

A Hotel to relax with quiet surroundings”

Superb set dinner & breakfast, spacious & clean room, walking distance from Togendai ropeway station

Overall, we love this hotel for the superb room & meals, friendly front desk & restaurant staff. There's private onsen(hot spring) which hotel guests can reserve and use for 1 hour/session for free. This hotel is about 10 min walking distance from Togendai Ropeway Station/Pier. For those who have 2D1N itinerary in Hakone & wish to have a midway stop/rest(before boarding Lake Ashi sightseeing cruise at Togendai Pier the next morning), this hotel is a good choice. Definitely value for money if included meals(highly recommended as there's limited restaurants opened after 8pm.

Great experiences in modern ryokan in Hakone”

Modern ryokan, onsen, Japanese breakfast

It was a long 10mins walk from our long tired day from cable car station. But immediately after arrived, everything is perfect. There are both public and private onsen available so you can take your time resting a bit. Restaurents nearby are all close. Prior reservation to dine in the hotel is recommended. In our case, we did not reserve the dinner. However, hotel recommends one restaurant 10min drive. They came to pick us up. The restaurent is very nice and not expensive compare to perfect service. Overall, very very good. 10mins walk to Hakone cruise / Cable car is not far compare to other hotels.

Outdoor Private Hot Spring, Private Bathroom, V peaceful

Location appeared a bit far initially. It is deep inside Hakone but it's near the main station. Thus while it took quite some time to reach the hotel, the location is actually very accessible to travel between attractions, esp if u buy the Hakone 1 day travel pass. The private outdoor hot spring is very nice as well. Very nice for a peaceful stay

Location is superb for exploring hakone. Conveniently close to Togendai bus station and cable car. Bus can take you to gotemba premium outlet directly and expressbus to Shinjuku, Tokyo and even the airport. Plus there's private onsen for this hotel too. To me, five star all the way.

Reasonable price with great food and service!”

Really enjoyed the stay here, one of the best part is the private onsen for reservation! Also the dinner and breakfast served were lovely in Japanese traditional style and tasted amazing (the portion was so big that both my friend and I couldn't finish all, we are girls tho). So I would totally recommend this hotel to anyone going to Hakone!

Nice and cosy”

Friendly staff, great food, comfortable room

The hotel is located near the end of the cable car route and stop for the ferry ride. If you are arriving in hakone via Shinkansen, you can buy the hakone 2 day free pass. The staff were extremely helpful. Room was clean, spacious and comfortable. The public bath was alright but do book the private onsen. You can use it for an hr which should be more than enough. The breakfast and dinner spread were great value and delicious. Although dinner have to be served by 7, there's not much to do in hakone at night anyway so that's not a problem. Great place to relax and enjoy the peaceful surrounding.

Stay was very enjoyable. Food served was made with very fresh ingredients. The staffs are courteous and helpful. Do take note that that Japanese style twin room does not refer to sleeping on tatami mats. It is quite a walk (15mins) from Togendai Station to the Hotel, if you are using the Hakone Free Pass.

Spacious, comfortable and clean

We had a great stay with a spacious and clean hotel. The staff was helpful to recommend to us a restaurant for our dinner when we were lost as to where to have our dinner. It is near to the Hakone Ropeway and Lake Ashi. The setback is the toilet is the old type, without any spray for washing, no extra points to charge our phones and the staff at reception looks too serious, without any smile.

Beautiful modern take on the traditional ryokan”

Beautiful room, private and public onsen baths, great breakfast

we stayed here one night and would have loved to stay longer. the room was beautiful and extremely clean with a small private bathroom and western style beds. despite this the room still had the feel of a traditional japanese room with tatami mats and shoji screen windows. the staff was very friendly, but spoke hardly any english, so limited japanese was necessary to communicate. our directions to the hotel said to look for the sign; however, the sign off the road was all in japanese and would not be readable by someone who is not familiar with the written language. the hotel can be identified by the fact that it is right across the street from a gas station and has a large, wooden sign marking the entrance. the public baths were nice and the option to reserve a private bath was wonderful! we were also very pleased with the traditional japanese breakfast that was included in the price of the room. we did not eat dinner at the hotel, but if it is anything like the breakfast, i'm sure it would be a great meal. we would definitely stay here again and look forward to the occasion to do so!

Dinner, Hot bath, Free Wifi.

We stayed there for 1 night (including dinner and breakfast, upgraded dinner to gourmet menu for 1 person). Room is much bigger than I expected as compared to Tokyo's. Dinner was slightly pricey, but definitely worth the price. Breakfast however, was a little disappointing, probably because the dinner was good. :P The private outdoor hot bath is a must in this hotel and its FREE! Location wise,we followed the previous reviewers' comment to use the shortcut via a private carpark so it's actually just a few minutes walk from Togentai Station. Staff was friendly and they able to speak simple English. Highly recommended!

It was an right place for the price.. I thought it was a bit expensive for the room, but most places will be this price range at Hakone. The staff didn't speak English so it was really hard for me to get any information from them (or for example to explain to them how I don't eat mean, so I'd like them to exclude the meat from my breakfast that I paid for.. etc.)

We enjoyed our stay in Hakone. The hotel was not difficult to find. When through road via another hotel was opened, the walk was much shorter. The road leading to the hotel is uphill and good for exercise. Hotel is very clean, cosy, warm and spacious. Breakfast included only starts at 9 am and too late for us as we have to move on in our itinerary.

Japanese Breakfast and dinner delicious!”

Japanase breakfast/dinner, private hot springs as

1. Hakone in general I found was more expensive than toyko. Dinner was an extra $25, I suggest eating at the restaurant as there are no shops around the area. 2. Service was great, big rooms (not a roykan but is in Japanese style) 3. No English tv 4. No wifi but free use of Internet computer, we found it to be a relaxing break 5. Location is a bit isolated, I recommend only a maximum of two night stay. It's right next to the rope way, about an hour bus ride. Cut through the hakone academy hotel parking lot, turn left and it's a short 1 minute walk up the hill opposite the petrol station. Hotel name is not in english so have a look at the pictures to determine the hotel.

Near Togendai, excellent meals”

Accommodation is very near Togendai, where the bus terminal, Hakone Ropeway station and Sightseeing Cruise pier is. About a 10 - 15 mins walk, but a direct route / staircase cutting through the slopes would have been better, rather than having to follow the long bend that vehicles require to go up the slopes. Difficult to find on the first try. Rooms were average. I would say the worst among my stay in similarly priced hotels during my trip. The meals were the highlight of the stay. The dinner was a traditional multi course shabu shabu hotpot, with freeflow of drinks and alcoholic beverages. And breakfast was similarly sumptuous. On-site private onsen was from ~4PM-1AM, and requires early booking on popular timeslots.

Budget Hakone travel”

The ryokan is about 5 mins walk to either Togendai station or Hakone Kojiri terminal. Location-wise, it's convenient! (only one needs to have a small uphill walk) We stayed two nights and we had a pork shabu shabu for the first night and unagi rice for the second. Wonderful arrangement! The room was a bit old and not seems had not been furnished, the pillow was not comfortable (though we still slept like a log). The staff were friendly and some of them could speak English. So, it's really good.
