Big room, nice staff and security”

As I observed, this is the only hotel which has its own security guard, who tirelessly reserve the parking lot for hotel guests, and even helped my young boys up and down the kerb. The Avantgarde suite is huge, with sitting room area, a big bathroom, 2 single beds and 1 king-sized bed. As the hotel is situated along a stretch of eateries, it was super easy to just pack food back to the room, and enjoy the food in the comfort of the big room (which is very important as I was travelling with an elderly mum and 2 young boys). Though there was no swimming pool in the hotel, my boys enjoyed themselves in the Jacuzzi bathtub! For the price we paid, I think it is worth it.

Stayed in the Avantgarde Suite. Love the whirlpool bathtub!!!!!! Surprised that it actually has such a great tub in such a small hotel. Thumbs up. The wifi wasnt workinh at night. But definitely recommend this place! Will come back again.

Very good”

Wanted to visit Paradigm Mall in Johore, chosen a hotel nearby. Was glad that chosen Avantgarde Hotel. The location is great, room cosy for entire family. Nearby lots of good eateries. Staffs were frienly too. Great Hotel with a great price.

Great location”

This is my first time staying, its for my convo in UTM skudai. Good location to stay and nearby to UTM. Great place to enjoy food with worth price, nearby to sutera mall and we return with happy moments and memories.

Whenever i went JB (Skudai), i will always stay this hotel. Although some of the counter staff had changed but the hotel standard remain the same.

Worth it”

I have nothing to complain for this hotel. Good walking distance to sutera mall which fit our purpose for choosing this hotel. They let us checked in early which is a bonus. Room is clean and staff are friendly as well. Except one thing, One morning we went out for breakfast, and came back in surprise found the cleaning service staff in our room which we didnt ask. Since we left our important possession behind in the room, so we felt a bit uneasy for that. But nothing was lost, so it was totally fine. Please be mindful that you only can find yourself surrounded by Chinese restaurants like 99%. So if you are a muslim like us, you need to search a bit for a good halal food. no qiblat direction in the room so do your research if you want to stay here. I give this hotel 4.5/5. Thanks!

Value for money”

Booked only for a night @ Avantgarde hotel & overall we were satisfied with the location & cleanliness. The wifi connection was not strong so it was abit frustrating. Even though the hotel didn't provide breakfast, there are so many restaurants around the area it is not a big issue. Will definitely consider returning to this hotel in future.

Clean, comfortable and spacious suites.”

The check,in on a Sunday evening was relatively smooth. After realising that the Elegant suite doesn't come with a bar fridge nor windows, we requested for a change to their Avantgarde suite and topped up the difference (RM100). The latter room was huge and spacious and my 4 year old son had a great time running about in the room. The only drawbacks were: 1. the shower area had no screens which resulted in the entire bathroom being wet after use. 2. the bathroom lights were located at the doorway near the maindoor. So it's either sleeping with the bathroom lights on which lights up the entire frosted glass wall or walking a good 10m at night to switch it on or off. 3. the music from the nearby pub could be heard late into the night.

Nice and Comfort Room”

Room is big enough especially with kids. My kids extremely happy seeing the Jacuzzi bathtub! Location is good. Walking distance to Sutera Mall and nearby coffee shop for breakfast. No noisy sound at night. With lots of parking lot available nearby the hotel. Especially the morning shift security guard, very friendly and helpful. The night shift one is very lazy and not helpful. Will support this hotel again. So far this is the best that I've experience compare to all the previous hotel i stayed before.

This hotel is located near the sutera mall. Which only about 7 minutes walk to the mall. For restaurants, we can find a lots of different types of restaurant, even soft lodge are available at every corner. For this hotel, the room is big enough for our family. But the interior design is not satisfied for me. No cabinet for hanging cloths but only a Cloth stand. Small writing table which not enough for me to put my baby 's stuff. Toilet is big but there is strange smell coming out. I hope there is improvement for this hotel in the coming future.

Having a 2 nights stay at this hotel. you sure will not feel bored as is surrounded by dining home and shopping. it is remarkably located whereby easy to access from any part in Johor. From here, with the car, you can spot around for great food, shopping or even themed park for relaxation.

Reviews of Avantgarde Hotel”

We stayed in the hotel early Oct 2016. After reading the reviews here that certain rooms may experience loud music at night, especially during weekends, we made a booking with a remark that we want a room away from the main road. We were allocated a room facing the main road (with a good view) and the nightmare started at night. The club located diagonally opposite the hotel had their rock music BLASTED till nearly 4am. The bass was so heavy that it give all of us headaches and mild ‘heart attack’. We went down to the reception around 2+am and asked the staff what time is the music going to end and can they do anything about it. The staff simply say he doesn’t know and can’t do anything about it. We went over to speak to the club directly. After much ‘ding-dong’, we managed to speak to someone who seemed to be able to ‘call the shot’. Though it was an outdoor club, we can hardly hear each other speak even when we walked slightly away from the club and were all trying to ‘shout’ as loudly as we can. He apologised for the disturbance and said he would reduce the volume. We were 3/4 deaf while walking back to the hotel. The volume did reduce a little after we went back to the room (not too sure if it’s due to our temporary ‘deafness’), but it went on till early morning. To be fair, our 4-bedder room was nice and spacious with a good view. Location and facilities in the room are not bad either. But don’t think we would go back again until the noise issue is settled. There are many other accommodations away from this club which can provide better environment for rest. It’s a real pity that the hotel is not able to get/retain its customers due to external factors.

+Plus Point 1) Local 2 Star Hotel, room bit tight but still able to accommodate in comfy feel 2) Room is clean and all bed sheet, pillow or towel are new (as of my visit time) 3) WiFi access is average 4) Location is easy to find, behind main commercial road 5) Happening surrounding with housing scale shopping mall, recreational park, restaurant and more Minus- Point 1) Hard to locate parking, hotel limited parking 2) The bubble lift is extremely slow, I rather walk up to 3rd floor 3) Lobby & entrance look messy as some staffs like Jockey & Security are resting on the sofa at night 4) Room services was slow as of there are only one lift to access

Check in very inefficient ”

Calling our room phone to request us to bring down IC and receipt again when we just stepped in the room. The hotel name unable to see from outside, the hotel main entrance very different compared to photo posted in agoda. I love the location of this hotel very convenient.

Easy access to the nice restaurants at Sutera”

The hotel is super near to all the nice restaurants at Sutera. Just take CW Bus from Second Link, and look for "Sutera" and aboard the bus. Avantgarde is strategic located and good for 1 nite stay (better than other cheap hotel like Suan Bee), and kinda value for money. But the interior and faci are not quite good, and doesnt feel being pampered. Slow lift, no sound proof. But couldn't expect much at this cheap rate. Still consider good overall if you are looking at a budgeted 1 day backpack trip to Sutera.

Location is good but not the room”

I have used to like Avantgarde but its rooms are getting quite disappointing due to poor maintenance and it seems there are different room standards for the same type of room. Main issue is the bathroom which lacks a proper shower area, there is not even a shower screen, so when bath, clothes may get wet and whole floor is wet. Some bathrooms are also too dim or dirty. In room, the table is too small. So I may consider going for other nearby hotels unless I really can't get any room.
