Dive, Relax and meet nice people!”
I stayed at Bastianos on Bunaken island with 2 friends and this was a fantastic ending of our 2 weeks trip through Indonesia. We arrived at Bunaken Island in the morning and the staff was very helpful and showed us around and explained us everything. The room was just great with sea view and very cloooooooosssseeee to the beach - like 2 steps. As it was not high season we were just a couple of guests in total, which was also very relaxing and fun atmosphere. The diving experience was great, as it was my first dive after getting my OPW license, I was a bit (very) nervous. But Bastianos had one dive guide just taking care of myself and that helped a lot! Thank you. The pickup worked very well and the ambiance is just great. Also we had to change the booking as we arrive late at night at Manado, no problem for Bastianos & Agoda - was very stafiyed. Nice little island, cool resort, friendly people. I'll come back someday soon.

Had a great time away from urban life”
Bastianos Resort @ Bunaken island offers a quiet & hassle free respite for hectic urban dwellers. Here time feels unimportant, uneeded and unwanted... Leisure and relax is the main job. The staffs did a fantastic job keeping every requests fully satisfied. Great area for snorkelling & diving is just 5-10min boat ride away. Private sandy beach at the resort ensure a romantic & quiet adventure away from throngs of tourists... The rooms have no TV or Wi-Fis. Every main activity are held at the well-maintained Longhouse that serves as the guest Lobby, Lounge, Restaurant & Activity Center. They seem to encourage guests to mingle and interact here. Just dont forget to pack ur amenities at the main Manado island before departing to bunaken... As they dont have minimarts selling any sunblock lotions, shampoos, ciggs or shavers... They do have a well-stocked bar & restaurant to serve u alcohols like beers & cocktails all day. U can pay by ATM or CC but expect a 3% surcharge. They only have BNI Debit machine fyi. Island Boat Taxi service is readily available at the pier for a variety of prices : Rp.500-700k (one-way trip).. Or up to 1mil+ if ur a bigger group or look like a foreign tourist types... This is by far the only drawback. As transport to-and-fro is not inclusive and are prone to negotiations; which always forced the tourists to "submit" to whatever the locals demand & suggest. Leaving no room for fair negotiations & fixed cost. Watch out & enjoy ur trip!

Exceptional”
I easily recommend Bastianos for value, quality, service and SCUBA safety. We booked a king AC room in Bastianos Bunaken and couldn’t have been happier. Mike and Cora should be commended—it feels like family and the staff are obviously happy to be there. Meals ranged from good to beyond delicious. They offer a small buffet selection, which appeals to all cultural palettes, even a made to order omelette station. Each meal is served for a 2-hour window, allowing flexibility around diving, naps, massage, etc. Guests enjoyed lounging in a cozy sitting area near the bar, offering specialty drinks for a modest additional fee. The resort sits on a tranquil bay and other guests raved about the fabulous snorkeling, seeing many turtles, stingrays, etc. We were pleased with the selection and good condition of rental shorties, full suits, BC, etc. The dive boat staff could not be more joyful, pleasant, helpful with gear, and identifying the local underwater attractions.

Nice five roomnights stay in bastianos with friendly staff ! I went there alone to take the awo diving certification. The responsible instructor leya n johda r very kind and full of patience. Room is simple but clean,and it's a very safe stay experience. Suggeting to go there in right season between APR to NOV, then u can avoid the floating trash in the sea from Manado and the full-say rain. It's really a impressive trip in bunaken ,I will come back for diving spot 26 :)

Amazing experience”
Simply amazing! We had the best time we could have in Bunaken. The resort is perfect with really good beach where to swim and snorkel. The dive Centre works perfectly and the dive masters are the best we could wish for. The staff is so friendly that we end up every evening singing with them under the moonlight in front of the bar. Rhomé and Max are the cherry at the top of the cake: they are so nice, friendly and helpful! We were feeling home after an hour we were there. Thank you! We hope to come back soon!

Great hotel but ok dive center”
I wanted a hotel a bit upmarket for my girlfriend birthday during our backpacker trip. The hotel is nice, with a nice view, the room very clean with AC. The bathroom ok, with hot shower but of salted water. The 3 meals are a buffet with pretty diverse food. We did 3 dives in a day: 2 in a morning, with a rest on the boat, one in the afternoon after lunch at the hotel. In the first dive, my BCD was leaking so I couldn’t inflate it correctly while in the water. They fixed it in the boat. Just before the second dive, I noticed my regulator was leaking too making a small noise. They fixed it weirdly. The thing that bothered me is that they didn’t change any of these equipments before the afternoon dive, even if we went back to the hotel. So the regulator leaking was still there. My girlfriend and myself are not experienced divers, and the dive master didn’t bother asking us how much air did we have left during our dives. So we had to tell him when one of us was reaching the red zone. I emailed the hotel few days in advance to organize a Dolphin Tour for her birthday. But they couldn’t gather enough people to do the trip the day before. I wish the dive organizer would have been a bit nicer about it, and tried harder, or maybe offered a better price than 180euros/boat for 2 people. I found a local in the village next door who was willing to do it for 60euros/boat. Much better deal. And we had an awesome time with the dolphins jumping around. Same if you want to go back to Manado by boat, the local will offer the service for 25euros/boat, the hotel will ask 30euros/person. The hotel’s staff is really really nice though, always smiling. They brought a delicious cake singing “Happy Birthday” the night of her birthday. And when we came back from the Dolphin Tour, just after the breakfast time, they made it possible to have some food still. This place is a little too pricey for the dive center quality, but you’ll have still a good and relaxing time there.

I just came back from a three-day stay at Bastinos and would like to say it was a wonderful experience, beyond my expectations. It is located right on the beach that is one of the nearest to the city of Manado and thus access is good; staff are all very friendly and helpful; rooms are clean and well maintained; food is delicious and all inclusive of the price of stay; twice a day diving boat trip is offered at reasonable price with good guide staff (I am afraid I can not comment on the diving equipment since I do not dive). The only thing I would like improvement was wifi access which was not stable during my stay. Knowing it is not easy to have perfect internet environment in Indonesia, I still feel that it can be improve somewhat. I really would like to extend my appreciation to all the staff for the help which made my stay memorable.

It's a Great Place”
It's a great place for doing snorkling and diving. Beside that the room is very big for 4 persons and very clean. The food is pretty good for the remote place and all the staffs are friendly. It needs more upgrade for the wifi because the wifi can be used near the lobby and restaurant area. When I went there, it was raining season so don't be suprise if the beach lots of waste from the main island (Manado). But the hotel staffs always clean the beach every morning. For overall, it's very good to stay there.

A great place to relax”
We stayed for a week and found Bastianos to be a well run and kept resort. The price which was very reasonable included 3 meals a day buffet style. The selection of food was varied and well cooked and presented. We did have the same meal choice more than once which was great. The common area upstairs was good for catching the afternoon breeze and there were many books on fish and coral to peruse after a day in the water. The pool table was a shocker. The managers Remmi ( forgive me ) and Max were hands on and interacted well with guests. The dives were well run and the crew fun and professional. BUT THE PLASTIC IN THE WATER WAS VERY BAD AND PRESSURE ON GOVERNMENT IS NEEDED AS IT STOPS US WANTING TO RETURN. All in all it was a pleasant place and a walk along the island through the villages was a good way to see the island.

The staffs are very very very friendly. We felt that we are part of the Bastianos family rather than guests. I'm pretty sure that the food and room cleanliness are at the best condition this island could provide, but seriously, would LOVE to be there again. (Special thanks to Mike as our amazing OW trainer)

Good place to stay”
Everything is fine at the resort because of the Eropean manager. (Thanx Max!) Clean, well organized, amazing kitchen. Friendly and polite staff. If you want to dive and stay with family - doesn't matter if they dive or not - that is the right place. The first dive guide a bit surprized - some times he disappeared and I couldn't even see him. But at the last two guides were just excellent. Generally, that is a good place.

Great week of diving”
Overall we really enjoyed our stay in the resort. The diving was great. Amazing spots and also the divemasters and equipment were excellent. The staff took the time in the evening to explain the under water life and always tried to allow for individual requests. The resort is nicely located directly on the beach, clean and spaciously laid out. Negativ:The food was ok, but nothing special. It was more or less the same everyday. In Indonesia we have eaten better for less money. Also the prices are a little bit too high for Indonesian cirucmstances.

Brilliant place for rest and relaxation”
Bastiano's Resort was a perfect place to do as little as possible. I really needed a break from work and life and this was the most ideal spot for that. The food was excellent and plentiful, the staff was charming and attentive, the bartender friendly and generous, and that is just the resort. This is to say nothing of the spectacular location, the professionalism of the boat/dive crews, and the unrivaled beauty of the sea (both above and below the water) I can not rate this location higher. Thank you Bastiano's for the best rest I've had in years.

The resort condition is ok. .like most of the resorts on island it's pretty basic for everything. But the service in this resort is pretty impressive . Everyone has smile and very helpful most of the time. Feel safe and comfortable like staying with a big family. There's one night the resort was blackout for 5 mins probably because the speaker at bar went wrong. .but the bar attendants came up with live band performance right after lights up. The receptionist Sandra is very friendly and kind and I really like the dive guide boys because of their smile.Wish I stayed longer with resort!

Excellent for diving , wonderful people!!!!”
Great spot for diving, amazing wall, lots of corals, very kind of fish, and .... many, many turtles :) Make excellent planning dependent on the days. We stayed in the houses by the sea, good condition, big and clean. The meals are not very varied, but very well made. The staff were fantastic and the exceptional managers always concerned about the well being of the guests. Thank you so much for the fantastic days that you have given us. Great staff”
The food is great and the staff were brilliant. It is on the only sand beach on the island but directly in front is the main pier where most boats arrive on the island - this a busy island - so not quite and swimming directly isn't really a good idea. The island is great and staff were very accommodating. It also has a good dive shop.

Great staff, excellent diving but sub-par food”
The staff is the best thing about this resort - attentive, warm, not overbearing. Rance the dive guide is great - shows 2-3 critters but otherwise leaves us alone to explore, while keeping an eye out. Food is too standard - Indonesian 'westernized' food that has lost authenticity.

Great resort, poor sleep”
I really enjoyed my stay. The staff was great, the food was good and plentiful, and they even accommodated my wife's diet. The diving was first class, and we were supported well. My only complaint was the room. With a few modifications it could be great. The ventilation was poor, mainly due to curtains and netting that did not breath. Also, some vents at the back would provide good cross breeze. Second, the mattresses and pillows were very minimalist. Spending a bit more on each would provide a better sleep experience. All in all, I would recommend to everyone, with the caveat that they bring their own travel pillow, and maybe a camping mat!
