Novotel Sydney on Darling Harbour
Darling Harbour,Sydney - View on map
"There is no argument that Novotel Sydney on Darling Harbour is in a really good location. For those who travel with rented vehicles like me, the parking is $50 a day. Considering that parking is crazily priced everywhere in central Sydney, the price is reasonable. The Australian Maritime Museum is just 5 mins walk away, followed by the zoo, aquarium and Mdm Tussaud's. I walked to Sydney Tower eye in about 10 mins. Sydney fish market is not too far away too. There's a shopping centre just next to the hotel. Just cross a small bridge. Very comfortable 5 mins walk. I tried to get a family room which was 2 double beds but it was still very small. I felt a little claustrophobic in the room. If you do have 4 people in the room, with the luggage and all there's hardly space to walk. If you are a larger family than 4 and thinking of secretly squeezing more people in, I'd strongly advise against it. The amenities were ok. Respectable. Nothing to shout about. Shampoo and all were ok, but no toothbrush provided. Bring your own. Fridge is filled so there's limited space for your own drinks. There is a small minimart just across the street that sells basic necessities which opens until late into the evening. For the price paid, consider the location and the cleanliness of the room. The comfort of the bedsheets, bed and all. The decoration is minimal and it looked 3 star rather than 4. I would recommend staying at the hotel if you are cutting transport costs. Hotel staff are also very friendly. I paid for the buffet breakfast because kids can eat free. I'd say the hotel is family-friendly."

Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour

"It’s just a short stay for us. From reception to concierge, every member of Sofitel has shown their professionalism and passion. They were able to attend to ur needs and details. I always like the fragrance they choose. The bed is ultra comfy and the linens are soft and silky. We can walk to China town, CBD and circular quay (within 20-30 mins but it’s a nice walk esp u r in Australia). Just pay attention to the room type. I thought we would have a bath tub for our room but there’s only shower. Thanks Sofitel for giving us a nice stay in Sydney! Merci :)"

Quest Manly

"Had a great weekend here for the Manly Jazz Festival. We had a room overlooking the Corso we were able to check out what was happening before leaving our room. It was really close to the Ferry for a trip into Sydney and back. The room was very large and equipped with all facilities required and lots of restaurants nearby"

Ovolo Woolloomooloo Hotel
Sydney CBD,Sydney - View on map
"Arriving from the airport we were blown away by the position and the build of the hotel. Free mini bar and happy hour meant you felt welcome and didn't feel you were getting fleeced - ever. The position of the hotel in Sydney was first rate. 5 minutes to the Botanics,15 minutes to the Opera House and 20 minutes to Circular Quay - by foot! One of the best features was built-in USB charging in the plug sockets - incredibly useful, meaning you didn't have to hunt for your Apple or Android chargers. Apart from the room needing a little better lighting and some cleaning issues, this hotel was literally fantastic. If we ever visit Sydney again, this is where we'd stay! "

Veriu Central
Sydney CBD,Sydney - View on map
"Booking Veriu Central is one of the best decisions I have made during my preparation for our recently concluded trip to Sydney. The room rate is very reasonable given their location. It is located at CBD and is few blocks away from the tourist spots and restaurants. We were able to access lots of places by walking because of the strategic location of the hotel. The staff are very friendly and accommodating especially Ms Joy, a Filipina staff, who even went out of her way and shared some must visit sites and useful tips which came in handy during our trip. They do regular cleaning of the room and beddings as well as refills of the toiletries. The hipster vibe of the lobby and the minimalist design of the rooms were added bonus! I highly recommend booking of this hotel to those who are planning to visit sydney."

InterContinental Sydney Double Bay
Double Bay,Sydney - View on map
"At first, the price seemed quite high, but the standard upheld at the hotel is really worth it. Staff is very professional and friendly, environment is much more classy than the typical hilton or four seasons. Food is beautiful. Not very pleased about the rotten banana at breakfast but that's just a small thing. Room was good, views and comfort depends on which room you book. The cheapest one has slightly rough bedding and views of the courtyard is not good (others look directly into your room). A shame that the weather was so bad, couldnt even get a glimpse of the rooftop pool. Next time :)"

Base Sydney Hostel

"Good- no problems, and they were able to check me in when I arrived early. Very clean, and nice staff. I was able to walk everywhere I went. It felt expensive to me, but compared to the general price of hotels in Sydney, it was reasonable, and I liked having a female-only dorm."

Adina Apartment Hotel Bondi Beach Sydney
Bondi,Sydney - View on map
"Sadly the bulk of hotels in Bondi are budget end to suit the backpacker market, so fortunately this place is available to carve out a niche. If I was a visitor to Sydney/Bondi and stayed here - I'd really feel that I got the City Beach experience. It was very similar to the Shore Hotel in Santa Monica, CA. - PROS: Location is a very short walk to the centre of the beach and the strip is a hive of very cool cafes, restaurants and bars. Bills' is just downstairs, for example as is a hairdresser, banks etc. as well. The fit-out is Beach style - lots of aqua and white - which is the perfect ambiance. Everything as 4 star and comfortable, the shower/bed/chairs etc. - even if the feel was a touch mass produced (is it part of a chain). Lastly, our room was an Apartment one so it had a kitchenette with fridge etc. which would really suit travellers with kids or staying longer than usual CONS - None really, its a good place. I found it to be about 20% over priced for my expectations, but that is Sydney hotel prices speaking more than this hotels management. I also found the staff (whilst friendly) were unnecessarily strict about check in/out times - which is no big deal though. Pool was nice, but it is partly under cover due to the shape of the property I probably wouldn't stay anywhere in Bondi, particularly now that the Swiss Grand is closed."
