Nature hideaway”
Had a beautiful stay out at BRL, Jimmey and his staff do a magnificent job and are so friendly. Waking to the sounds of the jungle is definitely a highlight.

Great spot for river cruises and wildlife spotting”
Good location on the river, enjoyed the cruises morning and afternoon and saw lots of wildlife. The chalets were simple but had fans, aircon and hot water. Staff were friendly and food was plenty and tasty. Between cruises there was not much to do except read and relax. Some lounge chairs looking out at the river would have been great.

A perfect rainforest lodge for exploring Kinabantagan River”
Jimmy and his staff provide a warm welcome and a peaceful, well-managed lodge. The standard of accommodation is comfortable and very spacious, the food is good and drinking water available at all times. We were sad to leave after 3 nights.

Nice experience!”
River cruise, food, location
It is little bit expensive but we had a great time and it is worth the money! Food was really great! We enjoyed huge prawns. River cruise was amazing, started at 4pm till sun set. Unfortunately there was no elephants, maybe next time.. Cottages are nice, in the morning monkeys are running around. Btw. If you are coming by car, lodges are at the other side of the river.

Amazing wildlife hotel could improve small changes”
Location was amazing for wildlife, nice simple style to fit in with surroundings and the morning and afternoon river cruises
Overall it was good as we went to see wildlife and we saw lots and lots. The style of the accomodation and hotel is great as it fits with the style of the surrounding jungle. The food was very poor, I am not at all fussy when it comes to food but I struggled wasting at the hotel, food was rarely explained as to what it was and the lamb and chicken dishes that we had whilst there were 90% bone and 10% meat. My only other gripe would be that there wasn't much focus on litter within the accommodation grounds, it is such an amazing location and time needs to be taken to keep it as beautiful as it is. This is not currently the case and it wouldn't take a lot of effort to make this lodge one of the best on the river.

The river tours
The stay was good, rooms were a little lacking, food was adequate but too much of it, they need to sort out the lighting and make it more cosy.

Nice river lodge”
location, staff, food
The room was big and comfortable, food great and staff very knowledgeable but seems a bit overpriced overall. Staff took us out twice a day to the river, saw lots of birds, monkeys and a glimpse of a wild orangutang. Took optional jungle trek, which was a bit pricey (RM120).

quiet time a good place to stay”
meals were good, tour guide was very good and we saw lots of animals
Overall not bad there was a lot of rubbish around the bins which were smelly due to the monkeys rummaging through them at night, staff should enclose the area so there isnt any access for the animals. Guests should have access to air conditioning controls as there weren't any in the rooms they were preset.

Fabulous way to see the wildlife”
Fantastic Staff, great rooms, brilliant food
We had a great time at the BRL, the staff went out of their way to make sure that we saw all of the wildlife of the Kinabatangan River. The rooms are spacious, well appointed and the buffet meals were some of the best food I had in Sabah. Highly recommended.

interesting family stay”
the guides and staff were great
The rooms were fine, the property could do with a cleanup (construction material piled up around it). Food was plentiful, bland and repetitive. The flies in the dining area were unbearable. The boots were clean, sturdy and fast and the guides knowledge was great.

awesome experience”
everything except the food
the resort itself is actually quite breath taking in a you are in the middle of the rain forest kind of way. our guide dee made the entire trip so memorable for us. he was attentive and very meticulous on making sure we had the most amazing time. he kept our attention and gave information about each of the animals we observed and about the entire area we were staying in. i would do this trip again in a second. the only bad thing we could comment on was the food...it was not kept warm...the warmers were turned on after the food had been out for some time. the other thing was it took us about 10 hours to get towels because they apparently dont have enough for all guests.

Boring and expensive”
Location
For it's price I expected something great, but the facilities were poor. No recreational activity options for the hours and hours of waiting, bad food, and lazy guide and staff. worn down rooms with no tv or Internet. Wifi in reception is a shared 3G which could barely open a web page. A lot of unexpected costs (700 ringgit for transport for example), and a general confusion about prices. Do not go there without a planned itinerary, as the staff is unwilling to help you plan one. We had planned 4 days but left after 2.

Extraordinaire”
