"I never wanted to spend much on a hotel, especially in Singapore, because mostly I will be out shopping or sight seeing or dining. Usually a hotel with this price range is old, dusty and not strategically located, but this one is different. This hotel presents a hipster/rustic design that is warm, calming, friendly and welcoming. The overall design gives a positive and good vibes. The receptionists are youngsters that are very helpful and friendly. The Indian lady that handled my check in was very clear and thorough explaining little details of the hotels. I was able to get an early check-in about 1030 in the morning, while the usual check-in time is at 2 PM. With your room, you will get a mobile device which you could use to make international call and mobile internet for free, and you can carry it around with you. Too bad I've already bought sim card from the airport, I just knew it when the reception lady explained it to me. I ended up didn't using it, but this is a big plus point. The room I was staying was tiny, only 12m squared, but it is very efficiently planned and designed, so I did not feel cramped. There was no wardrobe, which safe some space, instead there was only a rack with hangers, this I think is a smart move, because I never used hotel's wardrobe anyway. Talking about cleanliness, it was spotless clean, I knew this because I did not have any allergic reaction. My only dislike was the AC, it blows straight on to the head, and there was no control of the swing direction from the remote. But, the room itself is already pretty cool without the AC at night in the hot Singaporean weather, so I ended up not using the AC. You have ice and water dispenser in the hallway, so you can refill your water bottle. The door was not sound proofed enough, so you can hear persons talking or running in the hallway, but it was not a big deal for me. Location wise, it is not dead center in the heart of Bugis. It was 12 minutes walk to Bugis Junction. However, it is "

"So glad I took the Agoda Secret deal and was introduced to this great gem of a hotel in Bugis. Great value for money. The staff was excellent--friendly, attentive and very helpful. I was even upgraded to Premier room with Queen size bed. Buffet breakfast has delicious variety of Asian and Western choices. The room and bed are very comfortable and spacious. Would be good for a staycation but I was out all day. Very good home base. Just 1 block from Bugis Junction and MRT. Great location to walk around Bugis area (many food choices) and easy walk to our meeting venue. I also liked that the hotel was beside the St. Joseph Church. I would definitely stay here again if I get a good price again. "

Cube Boutique Capsule Hotel @ Kampong Glam (SG Clean Certified)

"Staff was friendly, and showed me around and to my room, gave very clear instructions. Bed is clean, spacious and comfortable. Air ventilation is good even with the blinds down, I have my own privacy. They provided towel, toothbrush, toothpaste, indoor Slippers, bottled water, drinking water in the kitchen, even the toilets are clean. They have individual shoe cupboards for you to put your shoes on before you enter the room. High speed WiFi connectivity throughout the hotel. Breakfast was good too, with fried rice, noodles, bread, fruits, coffee, tea, cereal. I don't mind paying this price for the comfort and privacy, though it's a bit on the pricey range for a capsule hotel if you're on a tight budget, but it's really worth the 5 stars. Location is right in the middle of tourist area, near Masjid Sultan, and walking distance to bugis and mrt station. "

"My stay in Singapore was nothing but memorable thanks to the Hotel I choose, which was just few minutes away from the MRT Station. Anyone can take the train from the Airport itself and get off at “Nicole Highway Station” and the Hotel is just opposite. Bugis street was just two stations away and there were lot of eating places and shopping malls close by. Reaching Marina Bay and Santosa Island was just a peace of cake as the trains were available all the time. The only issue we had during our stay was to find a table for breakfast. The restaurant is not enough for the number of guests. Other than that everything else was good and comfortable. I’d definitely recommend this hotel to my family and friends and it’s very reasonable, clean and convenient....!"

"It was a wonderful and comfortable stay as we were given the high floor with beautiful view and they actually do their best to fulfill our special request during the booking and all done perfectly. Thanks to Agoda staff who had assist me for amendment. It was only a 1 nite stay but front line staff Sheila who chk me in had really make my day by upgrading us and being very attentive, friendly and polite even though I'm a local guest meaning there's no discrimination of any guest who chkin. In fact their friendliness and sincere service can attract not only guest from overseas but also the local singaporeans to bring their families for staycation at The Village at Bugis Hotel. Much appreciated for the wonderful services and for the short but memorable stay. Thank you Sheila from the village bugis hotel. "

Strand Hotel (SG Clean Certified)
Bugis,Bugis - View on map
"Pros: Spacious room for it's price, newly renovated, comfortable beds, aircond works great, bottled water and coffee/tea refilled everyday. Iron and hairdryer available in room. Clean towels and clean bathroom. Hot shower works great. Location is great, many bus stops across and around the block 2-5mins walk only. Closest station Bras Basah just across. 2mins train ride to Dhoby Ghaut Stn. The new blue line, Bencoolen station will open Oct 21st so it'll be more convenient coz it's just right in front of the hotel entrance. Used Grab to get picked up at the hotel or the taxi stand that's like 1min from hotel entrance. 24hr muslim food 5mins walk down the block, Food Republic just across the street and many other options all around the ares. Bugis+ and Bugis Junction just 10mins walk (actually less if you minus the traffic light crossings) Cons: none Previously tried other hotels around Bugis so now will make Strand a definite go to for it's value, space, comfort and location. Ibis Singapore on Bencoolen Hotel
Bugis,Bugis - View on map
"switched to this hotel from another little hotel in bugis may have cause the unexpected good feeling on ibis. the hotel is a well managed, under hotel group chain. and i received a million-smile and helpful service first at check-in. the room was not big, but compared to my previous expereince, it was fantastic! the queen bed is clean and firm, pillows (4 of them) are with different height and hardness. wifi was free but there was no hbo on tv (whereas my previous little hotel got it!) the bathroom is expectedly small, but acceptable. very clean with amentities (execpt toothpaste). one problem was the shower screen door. it didn't close properly (it would reopen itself) and even i used something to jam it close, there was still a considerable gap between the screen and the wall. water was everywhere. breakfast costed you and they served you with a nice buffet. nothing fancy but well presented. location was perfect. it is just 2 blocks away from bugis mrt, and there was a huge 7-11 store right next to it. definitely recommended."

Village Hotel Albert Court by Far East Hospitality (SG Clean Certified)

"I took advice of a friend and booked this hotel as it was near MRT station and Little India was just across the road and Bugis was the next MRT. As this hotel is near Rocher MRT station, it is directly connected to Little India, Bugis, Downtown and Chinatown and that was really easy to travel to all the tourist attractions very convenient and at a very nominal expense. There is a food court in the premises itself and the Sim Lim square just around the block where electronics are really cheap and we can shop like anything. The facilities of this hotel are all good, the good thing is that you have a bathtub in all the rooms, unlike most of the hotels in Singapore. Staff is very polite and extremely helpful and they do everything to make your stay comfortable. rooms are also spacious and you wont feel cramped of space. Overall, excellent ratings and a thumbs up."

"Santa Grand Bugis Hotel worth every pennies and cents during my 3-day stay in Singapore. The staff were very accommodative, the room was very clean, the breakfast was awesome, and it is super near to MRT Bugis Station as well as Bugis Junction -- where everything cheap and nice are sold there. It is very private despite the good location, that is also a heaven for pictures-taking! I'll definitely stay in this hotel again when I come back to Singapore in the near future. Thank you, Santa Grand Hotel Bugis for the amazing service and hospitality! <3"

More about Bugis

Arab Street runs through Kampong Glam in an area where Arab traders settled early in Singapore’s history. In the early 20th century, real estate prices soared, and the original inhabitants moved on. What remains is a highly commercial district with countless shops, restaurants and lively bazaars. In many ways, this is the epicenter of modern Singapore, and it attracts expatriates and tourists. One of the only remnants of the Arab community is the UAE Embassy.

Arab Street and Bugis Street have been tied up in Singapore history for nearly 150 years. Pirates from the nearby straits were based here until the British took over administration. During WWII, this was a thriving Japanese community. Today, it’s a booming shopping district popular with Singaporean families as well as tourists. There are far more shopping plazas than hotels in the Bugis and Arab Street area, so hotels tend to be busy year round.

Kwan Im Thong Hood Cho Temple is one of the main sightseeing attractions in this area. It’s a lively Chinese temple that teems with daily devotees. Non-Buddhists are welcome to have their fortune told or to light joss sticks. Interestingly, the Hindu temple next-door is a popular follow-up temple for Buddhists looking to make as much merit as possible.

Accommodation in Bugis / Arab Street is found mainly on Victoria Street, which follows North Bridge Road through the heart of the district. There is also a luxury hotel toward the marina, near The Plaza, The Concourse and the Furniture Mall.
