The Prince Hakone Lake Ashinoko
Hakone,Hakone - View on map
"We never give reviews for hotels which we stay at. However, I thought I would do justice to The Prince Hakone Hotel by writing a short review on it. We arrived at the hotel on one misty night, and sighted the hotel from afar. It looked magical, sitting in all that mist. Upon checking in, we went to the outdoor onsen, which was simply rejuvenating. Not to mention the sealy mattress which we provided in the room. It felt like resting on a cloud. We awoke next morning, feeling simply recharged. I would definitely visit The Prince Hakone again!"

Fujiya Hotel
Hakone,Hakone - View on map
"My travel book calls the Fujiya 'atmospheric' and they were right. From the welcome in the wood-panelled reception area to the character in the room, this hotel is very special. The immaculate garden was a particular delight and full of traditional Japanese features and charm. (We went to the famous Kenroku'en garden later in our trip, and it was disappointing compared to the surprises at the Fujiya, like the greenhouses and the bonsai display.) The room was excellent value, and had a seating area. The town of Myanoshita has some restaurants (the Grill at the Fujiya was a bit pricey for us) and you can easily walk to get the mountain train to tour the Hakone region. The staff are very attentive, and charming - we found this everywhere in Japan, in fact. Having the onsen waters in your own bath was great."

Hakone Lake Hotel
Hakone,Hakone - View on map
"Pros: We stayed at the Hakone Lake Hotel for 1night only. Its such a great experience bath at onsen. Its easy to reach this hotel since the bus stops right in front of the hotel. If you want to enjoy rope or cruise in the lake ashi, you just need to cross the street. The view from the hotel terrace was incredible beautiful. Con: The first room that given to us ,there was a strong urine smell from the toilet. When we complain then they let us to move to the other room. Unfortunately the check out time is too early (10am) and very strict. Suggestion: Please improve the cleanliness especially the toilet In general our stay in hakone lake hotel was great especially the kaiseki dinner was worth of money and the breakfast was also delicious"

Hilton Odawara Resort & Spa
Odawara,Hakone - View on map
"I booked and stayed in this property because it's close to Hakone area and hotel provide shuttle bus to Odawara station, in which we can use our Hakone Free Pass to explore Hakone area. What make me surprise, staying in this hotel and using all the facilities actually really enjoyable, and I'm thinking that we should spend more time exploring what this hotel offer to their guest rather than roam around 2 days in Hakone (which windy and foggy by the time I'm there). You can enjoy Japanese traditional bath in this hotel (very well maintain, well equipped), or you can enjoy an excellent modern water spa facility (they have many pools that the designer really maximize on how water should be enjoyable, such as walking pool, water pressure massage, spinning pool, jacuzzi, etc). They even have whole body hair dryer, swimwear dryer, etc as part of this water spa facility. I haven't got time to explore more other facility than their Onsen and Water Spa (Bade Zone they called it). But to sum it up, it is an excellent resort to enjoy. Just spend your time inside this resort, no need to explore around except you stay more than 3 nights. They have also Golf coaching lesson, painting lesson, etc (I'm not exploring all)."

Hakoneyumoto Onsen Yaeikan
Hakone,Hakone - View on map
"We booked two of the private onsen rooms - one for my parents and one for my husband and I - since we weren’t sure we could brave the public onsen. We can’t rave enough about this place. Great traditional ryokan experience, amazing dinner and breakfast, relaxing onsens, the sweetest staff, and conveniently close to the Hakone Yumoto station. Each room’s layout was completely different and uniquely beautiful. The photos really don’t do it justice. Unfortunately since the lighting is dim on purpose, I couldn’t even capture any good photos or videos. We felt like each of our hotel rooms was a whole house with all of the space. Our rooms were made up of several separate spaces - a living room with a table/4 chairs and balcony, a separate bedroom, closet, toilet room, vanity/sink room, partially outdoor onsen bath and separate shower... we were thrilled! The food... OMG! Just amazing. Rounds and rounds of courses for both the dinner and breakfast. Everything was so thoughtfully and intentionally created, and although tiny at first, we all got so stuffed we couldn’t finish everything. And my husband and dad eat a ton... We ended up checking out all of the public onsens - there were 2 pubic onsen rooms, each with two onsens, and also a public one that you can reserve for private use. We all thoroughly enjoyed it and could visibly see the difference in our skin and facial complexion after just a 15 min soak. The staff were also so kind and allowed us to check our luggage before check-in as well as after check-out. Our server NaiZuKi (sp?) was incredibly sweet and kind - she made our stay even better! She spoke English, Chinese and Japanese! I had read in some past reviews about the staff not speaking anything but Japanese, but we didn’t find that was the case at all. It’s a super close walk to the Hakone Yumoto station, which seems kind of far from all of the other Hakone points of interest like Lake Ashi, etc. but it’s honestly all pretty easy to get to if you g"

KITA NO KAZE SARYO - ADULTS ONLY
Hakone,Hakone - View on map
"On my japan trip this year, I booked to Kita no Kaze Saryo for one night. The host were all very hospitable and made sure I was comfortable in my stay. The room I was staying in (Susuki) was incredible. The best part about this trip although has to be the kaiseki dinner. The food not only tasted incredible it also looked amazing. My only regret to my trip to Kita no Kaze Saryo would be traveling alone. Definitely will come back with someone next time I come back to Japan!"

Shiki no Yuzashiki Musashino-Bekkan
Hakone,Hakone - View on map
"This was an excellent place. The baths are lovely and clean. There are two private baths you can book half hour timeslots, and gender-separated public baths that are open for you to visit whenever. Service was excellent; most of the staff speak only Japanese but with Google Translate and lots of gestures, we got on just fine. Some of the lobby staff speak English so you won't be stranded. English menus and signs are all available. Their gift shop was lovely and OMG THE FOOD. SO MUCH FOOD. They serve you breakfast and dinner. You do not need lunch at all. The dishes were all unique, very Japanese, richly flavored, and perfectly made. Our room overlooked Mount Hakone and a lovely bamboo forest. The only warning I would give is that, since you're in the mountains with outdoor baths, be careful of the various insects that you might encounter. The ryokan itself is lovely and clean, but bugs around the outdoor baths cannot be helped."

Hakone Onsen Sanso Nakamura
Hakone,Hakone - View on map
"We had a wonderful one night stay at the Nakamura ryokan. This is a traditional, small family owned establishment set in the lush Hakone forest. We had the dinner/breakfast package, which I would definitely recommend as it was delicious and excellent value. The owners were very welcoming, and speak some English. The two onsens were very nice, and the larger one has beautiful views through the bamboo. The tatami rooms are large (ours had a separate dressing room and small seating area), and the shared toilets and sink were just outside the room. The hotel is only a 5-10 min walk from the nearest bus stop, although (like much of Hakone) up a very steep hill. Alternatively, a taxi from Gora train station is ~1800 yen. Hakoneyumoto station also has a luggage delivery service (800 yen) - leave your bag before midday and head out sightseeing, and your bag will be at your hotel by mid-afternoon. "

Hakone Highland Hotel
Hakone,Hakone - View on map
"The hotel staffs are friendly. Breakfast restaurant environment and service is good. But Breakfast choice is limited - either japanese or American breakfast. Hotel room is big and comfy. There is Onsen available in the hotel and free for guest. Very near to the bus stop (about 1 min walk only) where you can ride on the bus to most of the Hakone Tourist spots using Hakone Free Pass. Hakone Free Pass can be purchased at Shinjuku Station Odawara Station. Getting it at Odawara station and you can use the free pass to ride on the bus direct go to Hakone Highland hotel. The bus will stop at the bus stop right outside of the hotel. It’s a less than a min walk of distance from bus stop to the hotel. Wheel Chair (fold up), baby stroller (fold up) and Big Luggage is allowed to bring onboard. Recommended for traveller with baby, old fold and in a family. "
