A wonderful hotel that you should at least visit”
Sofitel was carefully selected by me, a kind of perfectionist, for my first holiday in Hua Hin with my family (wife and young baby). I have no more words to praise its charming colonial architecture and lush gardens and would like to comment on location, beach, hotel and room facilities. Sofitel is right at the heart of Hua Hin downtown and it can be proved by the presence of McDonalds and Burger King (the only shop in Hua Hin, I think). Hua Hin Railway Station (a famous scene in Hua Hin) and Village Market (the biggest shopping mall) also is just around, as well as the great Mamma Mia Pizza restaurant. Hua Hin beach, the one just in front of Sofitel, is not a good place for swimming(lots of rocks) but it has widest beach ,whitest sand and best view comparing to Cha-Am and Khao Takiap. The sun chair of Sofitel is served not just on beach but inside hotel territory. Your privacy therefore can be protected with exact same sea view. There are three pools in Sofitel, one is particularly for adult (2.6 meters deep) and one is quite kid-friendly. My wife and my baby really like the bed (bedding) in room, Sofitel calls it “MyBed”. It is soft and cozy. The negative things to me are overpriced breakfast and hard/dated towels in bathroom. We enjoyed our stay and will be back.

Convenient Location ”
We went to Hua Hin as a family with 2 teenage children for the first time and were recommended the AGODA website by a friend. The reviews on each hotel were most helpful in assisting us with our choice of hotel. The Sofitel Centara Grand Resort and Villas Hua Hin met our expectations in terms of comfort in the rooms. It is most conveniently located with easy access to the town and walking distance to eateries, massage outlets and the night market. From the back of hotel, we can walkly directly onto the long stretch of Hua Hin beach. The grounds of the hotel consists of lush greens. The hotel attempts to provide small niceties such as a library, a giant chess board in the gardens, etc. The pool area is also pleasant with sun beds decked with thick towels to ensure a comfortable time in the sun. Intermittently, pool service staff provides guests around the pool with niceties such as cool towels, refreshing sprays and cut fruits.

Amazing Hotel, The utmost best in Hua Hin”
As my family and myself live in Thailand for 8 years already we frequently visit Hua Hin. Whenever we go to Hua Hin we always stay at the Centara Grande, it may be a little more pricey than the rest, but it is worth every penny. From the beautiful gardens to the plentiful beach chairs (you are not 20 cm from your neighbor like at the Hilton) the Centara Grande in Hua Hin is more like a 6 star hotel than a 5 star one. I would reccomend this hotel strongly! Its city center Hua Hin but is so vast that you still feel extremely private and confortable. Once again the Centara Grande Hua Hin met and exceeded our expectations

Beautiful old grand hotel.”
We found the Centara Grand Beach Resort & Villas Hua Hin when we were scouting venues for our wedding ceremony. We pulled up to the lobby drop-off and didn't even bother to get out of the car because we were sure that it would be too expensive (don't stop reading yet!) for what we were planning. We drove away, but took the time to call and request wedding package information from the hotel. We were pleasantly surprised to receive a prompt email reply with very reasonable package prices, so we returned the next day to go in and take a look. Ultimately, we decided to have our ceremony here. Great staff, gardens, restaurants, rooms, beach, gym, location, etc...

drop dead gorgeous hotel”
i have now stayed in four of the major hotels in hua hin and i have to say the centara grand is my favourite.i just love the old style colonial hotel with generous verandah's huge gardens and liberal use of teak in the bedrooms.i particularily liked the fact the hotel overlooked the town beach and the rich tapestry of life is woven before you eyes.i could spend hours watching people on the beach walking past, riding and falling off horses.burning themselves to death in the sun (me too),interacting with the beach vendors or just strolling by with their new thai holiday love.i had a deluxe room that overlooked the beach and was only 30 metres away from the waves softly crashing on the beach.every morning from 5.30 am i sat on the balcony sipping my coffee's and watching the staff and volunteers cleaning up the coconuts and plastics that landed on the beach overnight.the hotel is 90 years old this year and some of the trees around the property are all of that.particularily the huge tamarind tree near the main swimming pool.i have never seen a larger tamarind.during the day many of the pool loungers are on the lawn under the giant trees allowing you complete shade or dappled light.the air is so cool because of the gardens.the restaurants are superb and the french buffet(wed night) with genuine lobster(with claws) and alaskan crabs and oysters and giant new zealand mussels yum yum.there is also a seafood bbq on friday night right on the beachfront and that was very popular and good.the childcare was between the two swimming pools and my 4 year old niece actually wanted to go.the spa that i foolishly never went to untill the last day was right on the beach and the gentle wave action was part of your relaxation.i live in bangkok and this is now my new holiday home.i love it

The best hotel in Hua Hin”
This was our 3rd visit to Hua Hin and have stayed in great accommodation each time but the Centara Resort beats anything experienced before. Not only is it the first beach side hotel built in Hua Hin in 1923 but also the first in Thailand. A fabulous location which is close to everything that you need for a fabulous relaxing holiday. We visited in early May and experienced exceptional weather with temperatures ranging between 38 and 41 degrees each day. Who cares if its too hot ..... dive into one of the three large pools, swim in the ocean, enjoy a long cool drink or ejoy everything that the fabulous spa has to offer. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and plan to stay again. We highly recommend this hotel to any visitors looking for a great place to stay in Hua Hin.

Best good old place in town!”
I always move around switching between different places when l am in hua hin. But Centara has absolutely the pole position to the beach and city night market access. Especially if you want the contrast to todays modern hotels and travel back in time, here is the place to be. The resort is big but well maintained and the beds here are one of the comfortable ever in hua hin. If you want a proper breakfast choice and a sophisticated environtment here is the right place where the staff are always friendly. To recommand is also the spa Cenvaree at the beach front. l have been to almost all well known places in the area and must say that l had by far one of the most professional treatment here. The therapist are concerned during the treatment and the product quality they use is very good. (Pick the package option: less expensive in total and you can joy longer spa rexation). A place to visit again and again!

Very enjoyable stay at Centara”
We really enjoyed our stay at Centara Grand Beach Resort. The room is a bit smaller than we expected (we booked deluxe room). However, they were very kind when giving us a room with two double beds and easy access to swimming pools as we requested. The room was designed in classic way, warm and cozy. We loved their garden and swimming pools so much. The garden was so beautiful and well-maintained, the staff were very friendly and helpful. There are 4 swimming pools and we could only try 2 of them and they were very big and clean. One more good point is location. It's neary everything, walking street, shopping area, train station, etc. If you want to have a perfect holiday in Huahin, strongly recommend you to stay here. I look forward to come Hua Hin and Centara, huge and very beautiful Resort.

Centara Grand Hua Hin”
We chose the Centara Hua Hin for its location, right next to the beach. However, this is a large complex and from our room to the beach it was a good 10 minute walk. There are a lot of other hotels in Hua Hin that are within a 10 minute walk to the beach. The Centara is expensive, room, food, drinks, etc, even by 5 star standards, therefore, we gave it a low value for money score. This is a 2 floor complex and is therefore very spread out. If you are elderly and/or have walking difficulties, there is a lot of walking and steps, no lifts. Whilst we enjoyed our 4 night stay, would we return to the Centara Hua Hin, due to our low value for money score, probably not.

Sofitel resort”
I search and read the reviews on many web sites. My final decision is to book the hotel with Agoda for my trip in Hua Hin. This is my firt time in Hua Hin but many times in ThaiLand. The hotel is the best hotel Hua Hin compare with other 5 star hotel such as Hyatt, Hilton...The room and staff are wonderful. The private beach plus excellent services has made a great different for the trip. Other hotel will have many soicitors...I would recommend other and will visit again next year. This web site has the best deal for this 5 star hotel compare with other 3-4 times higher than waht I paid for....all rooms are private and have balcony...

absolutely wonderful - spoil yourself”
It is a gorgeous hotel with loads of history. Our room was extremely comfy with lots of character, as has the whole resort. the gardens are beautiful and huge. it is located right on Hua hin beach and is very handy to everything. This area should not be confused with Cha-am Beach which is passed off as Hua Hin, but it is not, it is 1/2 on the highway north, and is very disappointing. stay at Hua Hin! Highly recommend this hotel.

Colonial-style splendour in a perfect location.”
Spent two nights at the Centara Grand. Like a colonial palace this low rise (just two floors) resort is set in the heart of sprawling well manicured lawns, chirping to the sound of cicada and fragrant with frajipangi. It is perfectly located by the seaside and is in easy walking distance to the Night Market and other central Hua Hin facilities. The famous Elephant Bar is a delight , jazzy standards covered by a siren and her straw-hatted combo. The rooms are a bit small, dark and a tad tired but the generous balcony overlooking the beautiful grounds compensates and a is fine place to sip a gin and tonic and be lulled into tranquillity by the scent and the gentle lapping of the waves. Breakfast is ok, an all-you-can- guzzle buffet affair, a bit like a shark feeding frenzy as aged Westerners jostle for the bacon rashes, the coffee lukewarm and stew-like... but these are minor gripes in an otherwise extremely pleasant experience.

Extremelly beautiful hotel with fantastic service”
What a breathtakingly beautiful hotel. This 2-story hotel is a truly unique gem in Hua Hin. Located in walking distance from all central points of interest, this 5-star hotel could easily be given one more star. Its massive, well-kept, truly beautiful garden which span the entire hotel is a host for many sorts of birds and is truly a bliss to relax in. Built in the old Victorian style and recently (2011) maintained, this hotel offers a glimpse into the world as it was when the King originally built his first summerhouse in Hua Hin. The staff is extremely service minded and all speak and understand English. Beach is well maintained. The two pools are vast, tidy, clean and excellent. All facilities expected of a 5-star hotel are present and working in top condition. Service is fast and correct first time. Breakfast buffet and restaurant in general is extremely good. This Hotel is a true gem. Do yourself and your lovely ones a favor and go stay at this hotel.

Year end holiday with the kids”
We booked for 4 nights. Unfortunately the weather was not our side. We were excited for a beach holiday. However, it was cold and raining the first 2 days we were there. We had to purchase some warm clothes since all we brought was summer/beach attires. We couldn't use the pool as it was too cold. Kids end up spending at the Kids Club and they enjoyed it; the staff at the club was nice too. We did the Hua Hin tour to the Safari and some other places on the 2nd day since we couldn't use the hotel facilities. We were then very happy that the sun was finally out on the 3rd & 4th day. Kids managed to swim in the pool and played at the beach. Its a beach front hotel and easy access to it; really wonderful. There were horses for rides along the beach; they charged around THB300 for 20mins and my kids loved it. The hotel has 3 swimming normal swimming pools, unlike the ones in Grand Centara Pattaya which has all the slides etc. which attracts the children more. Breakfast spread was great!

Fantastic time - relaxed and enjoyable”
A favourite stay for us in Hua Hin, and we are reminded of how good the experience is each time we visit - including in meeting guests who have come out to stay at the same hotel year after year. For us it is a wonderful break from Bangkok - the Centara Grand is on a great part of the beach, it has a wonderful historical feel of calmness and tranquillity, and is close to some of our favourite restaurants in Hua Hin - all in all a perfect stay!

friendly staff”
The best thing we liked about this hotel was its quiet relaxing atmosphere. I heard from one hotel employee that before the hotel changed from Sofitel to Centara few years ago, most of the guests were Thais but now with the prices up many retired farang couples stay. The time we stayed was fully booked but still it was very quiet and we didn't get bothered by other guests. Staff was friendly and breakfast was good. We also enjoyed our club benefit with afternoon tea and cocktail hour. We have stayed at many other hotels in Hua Hin but this is the best so we will definitely go back there next time we visit Hua Hin.

Old World Style, Elegance and Service!”
we really loved the sofitel resort at hua hin. the ambiance, style, location and service were absolutely perfect. first the location. we were able to walk to the hotel from the train station - although i wouldn't recommend it with a big bag - and it only took about 15 minutes. it was also easy to walk out of the hotel and right into the center of town with many restaurants, bars and shops. we booked a pool villa, which gave us access to the millesime club. i highly recommend paying a little more to get the club privileges. access to the club included a free daily breakfast, high-tea at 2:30pm and cocktail hour from 5-7pm. each included a buffet of treats. if you wanted to, you wouldn't need to eat anywhere else all day. the villa itself was very well-designed with a beautiful hotel room opening onto a private deck with small (maybe 10'x5') pool. the room had two sets of french doors opening onto the pool deck, so it was possible to open up the whole room and just enjoy the whole space outside and in. the pool - while small - was perfect for afternoon dips to cool off from the hot thai sun. it couldn't have been anymore pleasant. the room itself features a rustic, white, cottage design, with a long comfortable couch to sit on. the bathroom was well-laid out with a separate shower and plenty of storage. at the back of the villa was an outside shower and tub. these can't really be utilized, as the hilton hotel looms above, severely restricting privacy. our villa was very close to the beach area, so it was very easy to walk out to the beach whenever we wanted. while not the most beautiful beach in thailand, it was still very relaxing to sit by the waters edge and watch the passersby. the main hotel - which is across a small road from the villas, is a beautiful, french colonial style building, with lots of pools, verandas, and meticulously maintained gardens. the service was flawless throughout. we look forward to returning soo

Colonial Charm”
This is a fantastic resort in Hua Hin, the 5th hotel I have stayed in Hua Hin over the past year and definitely the best. it is right in the heart of the city with access to the beach, and walking distance from great seafood restaurants along the beach. The hotel has huge lawns and multiple pools, it has an old world charm compared to the new and smaller hotels that have now come up all over Hua Hin. The rooms were comfortable with decent sized balconies, there are many restaurants on the resort (but we chose to eat out) . The children really liked the topiary garden and fish pond, as well as pony rides on the beach! Will be back for a longer stay for sure!
