Find Hotels in Hagi, Japan

It's a little out of the way for most tourists as it took 2 hours on the Shinkasen from Shin-Osaka to Shin-Yamaguchi, then a 90 minute bus ride to Hagi bus centre. If it's old Japan that you want to experience then this is for you. This place is very traditional Japanese. We chose the traditional Japanese room with ocean views, it was magic. It is a little bit out of town, so be prepared to catch taxis for approx ¥700. The staff don't speak English but they have an app that translates. All signs and information are in Japanese only. The restaurant only takes reservations as it is a set menu with set price. There are other restaurants around town but most cater for Japanese tourists. Don't expect a continental breakfast as this too is a set menu, and traditional Japanese food is all that's on offer. There is a supermarket in town and a 7 eleven for fundamentals. They have a local Hagi bus which costs ¥100 per ride or ¥500 for a day pass. Red bus does a loop around town and blue bus goes to other tourist destinations the other way. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and hope to return soon.

This hotel has a great bath with wonderful harbor and costal views. It is so relaxing and comfortable to soak in the hot spring. The staffs are considerate and attentive. Both their breakfast and dinner are delicious. Even it is slightly far away from Hagi downtown, they provide shuttle services to/from Higashi-Hagi Station, and there is a daily bus to/from Shinkansen Shin-Yamaguchi station door to door literally. Taxi rides from the hotel to most of the places in Hagi costs about US$15-20.

We loved this beautiful ryokan. The staff were so charming - English is extremely limited, but they worked hard to make us feel welcome. The welcoming tea, the fabulous meals, the spacious rooms, the old world charm all made this a special stay for us. Tomoe has bicycles to rent on site - Hagi is a wonderful town to tour by bike. No wifi in the rooms, only in the lobby, but that is a good thing!

Located just immediately beside Higashi Hagi Train station and is extremely convenient. Room is extremely big and spacious. Bathroom even has a place to sit while showering. The breakfast is simple riceballs, miso soup but satisfactory. They also have public baths and small outdoor onsen where guests can enjoy soaking in some hot water after a tiring day. Only downside is that they do not have free luggage storage after check out as they do not have staff at the reception in the morning. They have coin-lockers available for guests in the lobby but it costs 400yen for a big locker. For guests planning to explore Hagi-city after checking out, you can consider to rent a bicycle located at the first floor of the hotel building. The bicycle rental shop provides free luggage storage service. Cycling from the hotel to the furthest attraction at Hagi Castle Remains is about 30 minutes only.
