Find Hotels in Hita, Japan

We went to Kyushu during Gold-Week, so the price of most hotel at Oita area are too expensive for our budget. We choose Route Inn Hita as a stopover before going to Beppu. We book this room about 2 month before departure, so we really got a bargain price for it. The room size and bed size (130cm for single room) are adequate. There is a nice public bath in the hotel. Breakfast is tasty with enough variety. There are plenty of parking space in front and next to the hotel (it is extremely important during high season!), and it is free! Hita is a quiet town after 5 pm, so there aren't many restaurant that one can choose for dinner. But nevertheless, it is a satisfying experience :)

Been to Japan more than 40 times, I think this onsen Hotel is one of the top three I had ever stayed. No shoes need to be worn once you stepped in this property, the smell of tatami calmed my nerves straight away. Our room was another highlight of our trip, everything was so well thought out. I particularly like the hidden pantry, the pleasant discovery when I used the dressing table/writing desk, there was even a Dyson hairdryer! I usually go out to explore nearby attractions during my stay but this Hotel made me stayed in after a quick lunch at the restaurant just down the hill which is also run by this Hotel. I highly recommend this restaurant, lovely river view and there's a farmer's shop next to it, they serve barbecue meat with a semi buffet. I ended up buying most of the gifts there. There are so many things to do in the Hotel, from wine tasting at the winery to having complimentary afternoon tea. One drawback is I am not a fan of horse meat and chicken sashimi.

It was one of accommodations for our honeymoon. We didn’t plan to come here at first but we firmly believe this choice was awesome. Every staff was professionally kind and helpful for us. Hot spring and bedding were nice. For me, I would love to have hotter water for onsen. Some ladies were very noisy but could bear that because of Junko’s warm hospitality. Japanese breakfast and dinner were amazing. I really loved the atmosphere around this ryokan. We will visit again with our parents soon. Two thumbs up :)

Highly recommend to book the dinner cruise. Boat is docked outside the terrace. Terrace is great place to watch sunset. Love the tatami style room and turn down service in the evening. Hotel is clean, staff is helpful although communication in English is very limited. Neighbourhood is very quiet . We went to a nearby restaurant for an evening meal. Outdoor onsen with the view of the river is the highlight of our stay. It is lovely when the cool breeze blows in! Will stay again if I’m in Hita.

Hita was a stop enroute to Kurokawa; it was as far as we could go by train before taking the bus the next day to Kurokawa. Hita is a day-trip destination for many from Aso and other points, but for a night-over the Kazahaya is a gem. Excellent everything. Surprised to find the onsen bath. We opted out of dinner, wanting river eel from neighboring Miyazaki at a family-owned restaurant a few minutes walk from the ryokan -- and Mr. Mao (first name) walked us there, chatting in American English all the way. He served us breakfast the next morning, and coffee in the "living room" after it. Spent a relaxing morning walking the shopping streets surrounding the ryokan, and visited the Kuncho sake brewery there, with interesting displays and a tasting room. To be repeated some day.

Check your accommodation address once again before your arrival, and especially if you are not a local, there is another stay with the same name (abt 5 minute drive away). Enjoyed the hot spring (there are both public one with a view and private ones) so it’s good if purpose of ur visit is for that, but nothing much around. Room was quite old too so have yourself ready for some local experience (back in the days). Sapporo factory was near though so this was a plus. Recommended to reach the stay earlier with day lights, it was much nicer in the morning (not much lightings at night around the accommodation then).

The staff is extremely friendly and detail minded. Jerry speaks native English and attends to our every need, while the lady who served us food was very friendly and well informed. You can arrange a free transfer or get a taxi which costed around 1000 yen. The way they design the food selection and display is definitely a piece of art. Their aged Japanese is adorned with beautiful antique furniture. If you are lucky, you may get a hot spring that just has you and your friend. I will definitely recommend it to anyone who loves to be tempered and appreciates Japanese culture. Thank you.
