City Palace & Forts are really worth to visit. NOTE: careful in hiring taxi/cab/car. They ask 5 times more money from foreigners.
Jaipur is a good place to see if you have no previous experience of Rajasthan, it gives you a bit of the state's history, culture, cuisine, architecture, climate, et cetera.
However, if you are there purely to travel, two days is enough, there isn't much there to do besides the major historical attractions. The nightlife seems non-existent, and most of the top food places seem to be situated in hotels, which lacks some ambiance of being in a truly local space, though the food is good. Lastly, do visit the Anokhi Museum. It is tucked behind the Amber/Amer Fort; it is closed on Mondays, small/quaint, but informative and worth the visit, especially for fans, and even for cynics, of Anokhi brand.
The city is packed with traffics, people, noise and pollution like any other cities in India but everyone is friendly as usual.
The city looks more organised than Delhi perhaps it's smaller in size. Venturing out to Amber Fort, Jaigarh Fort and Nahargarh Fort were worth every penny. The landscape is just incredible and the palaces intricate design are just pure amazing. Jal Mahal (Water Palace), Jantar Mantar, City Palace tour are a must.
There is a lot of historical sights in Jaipur. I would highly recommend having a guide to show the sights and get the information that is needed rather than just looking at sights without knowledge.
Many shopping area and historical place for site seeing. Can buy more valuable Jem according to your horoscopes
Lively, interesting city with remarkable architecture, great shopping and much to see. I recommend Galta-ji Monkey Temple as both a religious site and a place to enjoy wildlife.
Plenty of interesting shops and bazaars, too.
Newer areas are OK. Old part very crowded, noisy and not good for walking round. Amber fort, observatory and palace of the winds worth a visit.
Jaipur is an Old city with Rajput heritage and is the capital of modern rajasthan, It showcasts it rich and vibrant culture, colourful dresses, the jewellery industry and the various bazaars.
The people are friendly. The museums and the forts are well preserved. Food is distinct and amazing.....Not to miss in India
city worth visiting, better to leave for sight seeing early morning as most of attarctions closes by 4;30pm -better to engage cab for whole day to visit major attractions
The city is welcoming and easy to navigate by tuk-tuk. There are many temples and forts to explore together with factories/workshops that demonstrate fabric-printing and jewellery-making.
Vegetarian food is delicious and lime sodas are refreshing in the summer heat.
I stayed only 1 night in Jaipur, but I've been to quite a few interesting places. There're lots of culture or many historical places to visit especially Amer Fort and Jantar Mantar.
Worth visiting.
The pink city is now suffering from heavy traffic and high air pollution levels. No more camels walking in the streets.
The castle is wonderful, and now there is a pleasant, wide, paved walkway along the lake. There's a great jewelry shop opposite the Palace of the Winds, but he is 2 levels above the street.
Amber fort by elephant up was outstanding! Haha Mahal, Naomi block printing museum, and step well just made such an outstanding sight seeing day.
Wow. Very amazing and unique city!
Good place to see old monuments, for shopping , sight seeing and eating good food. You will enjoy if you have 2- 3 days which you will need to cover various places in Jaipur.
Its worth to visit all the major places. Only disappointment was Jal mahal as you can see only from far and cannot visit inside it.
Jaipur is developed city and more developing at a very fast pace, well planned city according to vastu.
good for business, tourist attraction.
The city possesses many palaces of interest and worthy of viewing, the lake and several forts of which the Amber Fort is truly excellent.
Nahargarh fort is well worthy of visit and also has a restaurant from which you can watch the sun set over the city.
I would say that you should visit Jaipur at least once. The forts take you back to the 16th century, great architecture, forts all ingrained in the culture of India.
However, the city is not clean. Authorities should immediately look into this. For a moment I felt in the company of Mansingh, Akbar, Jodhabai through their forts...awesome!
The markets and shopping opportunities are plentiful and varied. An excellent place to pick up bargains
Jaipur is a city of palace & fort's, one of the best places to visit is nahargarh fort and lake palace, visit these places especially in evening as they amazing and view from nahargarh in evening is just "voila".
apart from that you can njoy shopping here if you want to buy jewellery or blankets or sarees or suits u will find everything here you just have to bargain with right price. one must visit for its culture, forts.
Nice city with older looks and kept till now without any major change. But traffic to be regularised so that it is smooth & not irritating.
its an old chaotic city with very poor infrastructure. only nearby areas of jaipur has religious places of interest.
It was my first visit to Jaipur though we had an extra day but if you are visiting Jaipur then it's only a matter of 2 days to cover all the major attractions and Bazar as well.
We visited here in early second half of Feb and it was a wonderful experience and we enjoyed a lot.
Jaipur is one of the jewels in India's tourism crown. Wonderful palaces, forts and historical buildings.
Amber fort, Jaisingh fort, Lake Palace (though out of bounds for the public) and the city palace are awesome. Also, one must visit Jantar Mantar, an archaeological observatory, to know how good was the knowledge of astrologists of the time.
Must do are a visit to the City Palace and the Amber Fort. Don't miss the trip on an elephant to the Amber Fort! Jaipur also offers great shopping opportunities, for Rajasthani clothing and saris, bangles as well as beautiful jewelry (Gem Palace, Royal Gems & Arts are two of the best jewelry stores in Jaipur)
Jaipur the capital city of of the Indian state of Rajasthan, is one of the most vibrant and colorful cities of India.
Famous for its colorful culture, forts, palaces and lakes, the city bask in the glory of rich and eventful past.
I've been to Jaipur before in summer and although it was hot it was more pleasant. Winter has this grey fog that isn't great for photos, we missed blue skies and sun.
The pink city is interesting and attractive if only they would clean up a bit. The amber fort is mind glowingly grand, the highlight of our stay. Everyone wanting to make commission off you gets tiring and the shopping is overwhelming. I wouldn't spend more than 2 nights here.
Jaipur is a place to catch an insight about traditional Hindu culture of India, specially the Rajputana kings and their way of living.
Must visit all forts of the city for a good experience.
There are too many historical places to see at Jaipur like, Museums, Jaigarh Fort, Amber Fort, Hawa Mahel, Jal Mahel etc.
Be careful of auto drivers bringing you to "factory outlet" shops or other shops they claimed to be cheap.
I asked our auto driver to bring us to the market in the city (Bapu or Johari) and he tried a few times to bring us to some other shops and emporiums. In the end we did manage to go to Bapu and the items there are A LOT cheaper than in the emporiums. However, we did find the cheapest pure/ original pashmina shawl (the one with really delicate material, not the one mixed with silk) for around Rs2300 (it was originally Rs2800 but they reduced the price we when came back next day and decided not to but it). Other shops we went around India (Bangalore, Jodhpur) normally quoted us around Rs3000++.
lovely city in Rajasthan with a lot of history and attractions. Must visit the City Palace and the Amber fort.
Shopping is great especially for jewelry. A must visit for jewelry shopping is Gem Palace.
