Best hotels & accommodations in Kolkata

everything was lovely. staff helpful but unobtrusive. facilities good. location and hotel was spotlessly clean. breakfast and themed evening buffets were amazing. bar menu could have been a little more extensive with more range of snacks. overall - well worth 5 stars!f you have class, this would be an excellent choice of hotel in kolkata

We only had a single night at the LaLit... wish we had at least a week there. Booked 2 rooms both really wonderful. Location perfect for all business and tourist attractions. Staff are really good... and cleanliness was to international standards... something that can’t really be said for many Indian hotels. Food was good too. All staff were very happy to serve and s...

My stay at the Park Kolkata hotel was very pleasant and enjoyable. I was met at the airport and had a great drive into the city with a very pleasant and chatty driver telling me about things to see and do. Check in was smooth and I was upgraded to a suite which was much appreciated. Even though I was just a single traveller it was fun to have all the extra space to ...

Centrally located close to Park Street with relatively clean rooms. Good value for money. Special thanks to the staff who were very service minded and went out of their way to help with any special request. Would definitely choose this hotel again provided they keep up / improve their standards and don't become a run down property over time like many other Kolkata hot...

After searching 5 hotels at midnight in the new market area of Kolkata this is the best hotel considering the location and money. Every staff was wonderful from reception to bell boy to restaurant staffs to security guard. Breakfast was also pretty good which includes 4 types of juices. Room ambience was very nice. There's a fan in the toilet for summer times which is ...

Whenever I am going to look back and remember every moment of my Kolkata trip, apart from the city tours and eateries of the place, the team and staff of 'the SONNET' would be an integral part of my happy memories. The every bit of our stay at this place is satisfactory. We have lodged here for the fifth time and every time we have been made to feel very special. Every...

written a number of reviews on hyatt kolkata as i always booked this hotel if on a business trip in kolkata, india. going to book the same hotel for my next jul trip. the reason is simple. the location is great, easily accessible. the room is spacious & clean. when we said its five stars, its really five stars hotel. you do not need to worry about the servi...

I booked the hotel for my parents who were in Calcutta for their tourist visa stamping at the US Consulate. Location: The hotel is 5 mins walk from the consulate and 15 mins walk to the OCS Center. Arrival: My parents arrived 3 hours before the check in time and they were promptly checked in without any hassle. The reception staff were cordial and helped them have a s...

i had stayed in this hotel for 2 nights it was really a great experience earlier i have stayed in many hotels in kolkata but the stay at this hotel was good rooms are very well maintained cleaned and the amenities are good this is overall a good value for money every one will enjoy staying here staff are good and helpful the location of the hotel is good close to marke...

Great hotel for staying in Kolkata Centre. For shopping, dentist visit, good restaurant in the hotel, more in the area, walking distance. Although in the middle of the city, actually the rooms are very quiet. Internet is fast and free, and for unlimited devices ... ;) .... which is very comfy ... one doesn't have to beg for yet another internet pass for the iPhone and ...

We stayed 4 days, it's very fine. There is no ploblems in fact, I had really surprised. Fine breakfast, is good more than another 5 star hotels in Kolkata. Kindness and friendly team makes us feel good. We 'll back in next year, thank you to all the team.

We traveled with 2 young children and was 11 people in total. had 5 rooms. rooms in higher floors seemed better. Room condition was okay. they needs to be repainted as some paints are falling down. but bed, washroom and floors were clean and size of room was good. i had worse experience in other hotels in Kolkata in similar prices. Location is simply awesome. Some Staf...

excellent location and very good service. hotel staff go miles ahead to please guests. i stayed with 2 kids and they made our stay memorable with their services. another thing is this is a new hotel. so almost everything is like new and unused. very clean and white all around. hard to find this in kolkata hotels. they are working on their main entrance of the hotel but...

This was my second time in Kolkata and my first time at the Tulip Inn. I had a very bad experience at my first Kolkata hotel and needed to be more comfortable this time around. My stay was very good. The hotel staff is very friendly, accommodating and helpful. There was nothing impossible for them. They arranged cars, suggested travel operators for sightseeing and ...

It was the best choice for any travellers that arrive late night in kolkata, the staff were helpful even late in the middle of the night. They addressed my concerns without hesitantation. Although the hot water was a bit problematic. Overall, a great stay.

We spent a night at the Corporate hotel in Kolkata this November. It is a small hotel & quite new, situated near the business area of the city thus is often fully booked. We had booked two executive rooms but on arrival found that one of our rooms were down-graded to a twin room as one of the guests was ill & extended her stay. It took much negotiation to get the ro...

I only stayed overnight, and left very early. I was very impressed with the overall ambience of the hotel. The room was tastefully decorated with some nice features. It was pleasantly roomy and very welcoming. I have stayed in a variety of hotels in Kolkata over the last few years, and this was definitely the best value for money. Not so good for access to the inner ci...

we had a good stay here. the room was fine, despite our view of air conditioners and lack of decor. it had everything we needed to be comfortable. the hot water supply was uneven. the hotel is a good base for seeing kolkata. since the church next door to the hotel feeds street people, the location attracts resident beggers, but they are not overly aggressive.

As a frequent business traveler I have had all sorts of experience from the best to the worst but from the moment I entered into this hotel I noticed the the high level of service that is provided to the guests. From the entrance to the room every single service that is expected is provided with 100% efficiency. Every single staff members are extremely professional and...

We found the hotel very nice considering the money spent for it. Hotel room was neat and clean, staff is well behaved and co-operative. All the services were very prompt. Food was really tasty and worth the money spent. All in all, we were quite impressed, and considering this hotel is only 5-10minutes drive from Airport, we will sure come here again when transiting a...

Kenilworth Hotel in Kolkata offers a peaceful stay with minimal noise at night. Facilities are excellent, staff very helpful and polite. The location is excellent for work in central Kolkata. This is the second time that I have stayed here, each time for 6 nights, and would come back here if there was a further need.

beauuuuuuutiful place! just loved the place. ppl need to go there to realize, so i wont try to describe. i stayed at the fort btw. I'll just mention my gripes which i hope reaches the hotel mgmt... 1. no shaded parking. my vehicle lay under open sky under intermittent rains for 2nights, 3days... not appreciated! 2. food of Sonar Tori was tasty but difficult to digest...

We stayed at Housez 43 for four nights. We arrived in Kolkata and had booked into another Guest House - - it was terrible ....we checked in at 6am and out at midday! We had been traveling overnight and needed to sleep but I was too scared to lie on the bed as it was unclean...ended up sleeping on a towel on top of the bed simply because I had to. Housez 43 was the t...

Everything about the stay was beautiful. . The location the villa the pool the staff.. only thing I would say was a down was food..wasn't upto the mark.. and yes the check in timing is too late.. should be the usual 12 pm. . But these are minor issues.. overall I've not had a better experience in kolkata..

the hostel is good in a peaceful locality. Cheap and value for money. Quite clean, staffs are very friendly and helpful. WiFi is strong, complimentary tea/coffee in the morning. They have laundry facility also. Only 10 mints walking from metro station. There is a cafeteria and a small departmental store at the ground floor. I really enjoyed my stay. Looking forward to...

This hotel offers good value for your money, it's not for people that require western style comfort, but if you need að safe place to stay, this is it. It's a bit difficult to find, so locate it on your offline map before you come into the city. Aso - general for India - it's not easy to get wifi or a sim card for your phone, so be prepared for that. The internet on th...

The stay was satisfactory. Room is spacious with air conditioning and wifi facility. Pick up and drop from and to the airport is arranged by the hotel free of cost. However the toilet was not found to be clean. The bath tub in the room contains stain for which I prefer not to use it. Water was not available in the morning. Overall one can choose the hotel for one night...

This place gets 10/10.Great location, rooms and hospitlity. boyfriend needed emergency dental treatment while in Kolkata and owner drove us personally to find dentist. Family feel to this place was invited to watch cricket with staff shared beers and laughs. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble for them. Genuine people at a genuinely great hotel. Would stay here again ...

This guesthouse was my first stop in India. I was greeted by courteous staff (especially the elevator man). I felt very safe because they not only had gates, security guard, in every floor there was at least one boy sleeping outside of our rooms to respond to our requests and needs. Because of my travel schedule I will return to the hotel after 20 day travel and fly ou...

Georgian Inn was an oasis for us during our stay in Kolkata. The Internet was the high point. Decent Internet service is hard to find in economical hotels in Kolkata. Not only was the wifi in the room quite good, they even let us use it a couple of times in the lobby after we had moved to a different hotel (just for a bigger room for two beds). All of the staff were su...

Samar Singha is the main man at this place. He runs the show at this great hotel. Samar is a very friendly, and knowledgeable manager. He will help you with all your needs in the hotel & Kolkata. The physical property is excellent. Rooms, location (local busses very easy to grab from near here) & breakfast are all great. This is such a great hotel fit for me I’ve s...

No pros. Cons: Deceptive. The rooms are match box sizes but they advertise it as deluxe suites. Bugs will not let you sleep and will leave you with red swollen bite marks, no king size beds only single narrow beds with broken furniture and old raggedly beddings and towels. Toilets have yellow stains on tiles and seats, don’t you use the dirty towel! Don’t expect/book b...

It's really difficult to write this review; a couple of things would not let me give 'excellent' for all the above. Positives - the guesthouse is near the airport; it takes minutes to get there or from. Great. The staff at the hotel are really friendly. Great. The room I was was spacious and clean. Super. Negatives......some outside the guesthouse control some wi...

This guest house could do with better directions. The junction is well known but the final 50m proves rather difficult. 10 people couldn't help including tuktuk drivers, shop managers, random people or vegetable and fruit sellers .. In the end it took a phone call from a kind passerby to actually get me to the place. Just as a bit of help: It's set back off the main VI...

Being very tired ,hot and thirsty one can sleep anywhere and having stayed at the Jagannath previously, I knew what to expect. The helpful friendly guys are the hotels' best assets. If you arrive late into Kolkata and are leaving early it is an ok place to shower and sleep as it close to the airport.

I am almost reluctant to write this review in fear that too many people will become aware of this place in that it will be impossible to book-it already is quite hard to get in.The guest house is decorated is impeccable. Located in a residential neighborhood yet a very short distance of the centers of interest, I would not stay anywhere else.

stayed for 3 days in a months. First visit got nice comfy room with no issue however in second visit got room with slow running water issue . have to wait for 1 hr just to take bath. Complained about it. they said some cation taken but effect of action was not visible. Staff is polite. i recommend for short stay since price is very reasonable.

The Holiday Inn is a haven amid the chaos that is Kolkata. It's a perfectly satisfactory, standard Holiday Inn. My only complaint is that the breakfast is not really worth the price - and they had no bananas (no bananas in India!) and the overflow of music from a party in the bar spoiled dinner. But they're just quibbles - it's fine. The bed was comfortable.

I stayed two nights (broken) at Celesta and have very mixed views. Positives + best hotel if you want to stay near airport + has bigbazaar, haldirams and key shopping options/branded outlets in walking distance + room sizes and comfort is very good. rooms look classy + food taste in the restaurant is good + staff are nice and try their best. checkin checkout went fine ...

Best place I've stayed yet near the airport. Go below this price and you get mosquitos and a lot of noise and unclean, at least in my experience. Also easy to take a taxi to city center 2 mall. Only 50 to 100 Rps. I wouldn't call it a value for the money, but for Kolkata airport area, at least it's decent. At best it is average when compared to most of the world...

Stayed here for just a night because we needed something close to the airport. It was perfect for the purpose. The staff was exceptional, attentive and extremely helpful. Good breakfast buffet. As soon as my wife and I stepped in at the JW Marriott, Kolkata, on Mar 22, 2018, from Agniva at the concierge to the front office, from housekeeping to the cafeteria, all the staffs were simply awesome. Well trained, extremely courteous and above all, their caring attitude to transform the hotel into sweet home for the guests were simply amazing. Quality of food and...

Hotel was good. Bed and Pillows comfortable. Restaurant food was good and tasty. Vodafone reception in my room 2514 was zero. Whenever I enter the room my cell phone connection dropped. Reported this to the hotel. I went reception for check-out and informed them that I was having few Restaurant bills and the staff attended to me repeatedly said that he was aware of tha...

A nice and peaceful mini-resort, especially after the chaos of Kolkatta proper. Although not far from the center of town, it takes 1hr to get there by the hotel taxi, and getting a public taxi back is expensive (for India) and difficult. Great for a 'chill-out' period before going home. The local village is very lively and very 'local',no Mcdonalds thankfully and not m...

Maybe it is you agoda, or hotel, but you did not meet what was advertised...you promised welcome drink, fruits basket daily, and so on, which was false and did not happen. is it your trick to attract customers for these perks and then hoping that they will forget about all of these?! i was disappointed at first that we were not put in quite room as requested as it was o...

The Oberoi Grand Kolkata Hotel is one of the top 5 Star hotel in whole India. Nice and clean big room, very helpful and courteous staff. Perfect location so quiet in the middle of the chaos of Kolkata city. A memorable experience. Real value for money !!! Some additional local TV channels and free WI-FI and airport transfer could have been even better.

This was my first introduction to Kolkata, India. This facility was absolutely spectacular. It had that old style bed and breakfast feel. All the rooms were absolutely immaculate. Traveler impressions of Kolkata
Kolkata is a city worth exploring. It is safe from my point of view. Taxi is cheap. City is packed and always busy.
The best part of Kolkata is the food! all of the restaurants, even the street food - nothing is bad! Take the metro to get around, it the the fasts and most reliable way to travel through the city
take a ferry one way and cross the bridge the other. and look no further then calcutta walks dot com.
Lovely for people who have interest in Bengal and its culture and heritage and the remains of the British Raj.
There are plenty of religious places of worship, eco parks, zoo and other entertainment for families.
Very good for shopping, recommend to visit Mother Teresa's centres in Kolkata, and they have quite a good museum near the New market area.
Kolkatta is a good place, but requires lot of efforts to improve the basic infrastructure. Traffic is very bad over here.
I love coming back to India, as this is where I was born and I could never get sick og seeing everything as there is just too much to do over here, especially the food and all the now up market restaurants, but you still can't go past eating the local food, doing shopping at New Market and visiting Victoria Memorial and going for a horse/cart ride around the outskirts of it.
Its shopping heaven for those who love to shop till they drop. Awesome food offerings too for food lovers out there :-)

Calcutta is a huge city and as such deals with traffic congestion, noise, pollution, etc. Apart form the standard tourist sites that everyone is expected to see, The BEST way to get a feel for the city is to take one of the fantastic walking tours of Old Calcutta led by the people at Calcutta Walks (Calcuttawalks.
The City of Joy on the banks of the Hooghli River is very well laid out unlike other cities in India.
Excellent place, people have great respect for law, traffic rules and proud of their culture and traditions.
Its a city which seems like its frozen in time , since everything is more than 100 years old. Building falling apart, infrastructure in a mess, the whole city is a URINAL ( in reality) - i saw people urinating in almost every street .
There are couple of historic and other places to visit. Victoria Memorial, Fort William, Diamond Harbor, Science City, Eden Gardens Sports Stadium, Planetorium, Raj Bhawan, Writers Building and some other old places to visit.
So much to see and learn if you want to visit to all those homes of famous people in every field, Mother Teresa,Netaji, Rabindranath Tagore and many more.
Ganga sagar is also a good place for holy people. Kolkatta is a good destination for shopping, and enjoyment.
Old city with a mixture of modern elements. Rich in culture. Lacks the stature of cities like Mumbai in terms of Nightlife and entertainment but realaxing
Kolkata is a histological city of India. Travel lairs can visit so many places like hawra bridge, planetarium, Victoria memorial hall, Eden garden, Indian museum etc.
The whole city is messy, dirty, polluted, and not fit for tourists...I only stayed there becos of work.
This is one of India's metro cities, but the roads, taxis, buses, trains are so old and outdated. The buildings are dilapidated and not properly maintained.
Have not had the opportunity to explore the city very much. However did do some exploring down town. Saw the burial place of Mother Teresa and other sites in the area.
Kolkata is bigg city for bussiness tourism , for couples as well for food lovers it's nice place to have very delicious food in economic price
Always buy prepay taxi from airport counter, beware of professional touts that will blatantly lie in your face! They are open 24hrs.
a great historical city. a city with a human face and warmth. a hospitable and city throbbing with life
Its a traditional Indian city with lots of activities. Most of the roads are wide, a lot of shopping mall, restaurants and there few historical places to see.
Kolkata used to be the pride of the British Empire. Driving or walking thru this now quite run down city, you still get a glimpse of what it was like in those days during the British Rule.
Brings lots of antibacterial gel and facemasks. After a couple hours out in town, you're covered with black soot and you'll sneeze out black particles.
Kolkata is an old city, and has lots of historical value. The strong Bengali culture remain intact over the years, and that is the inner strength of the city.
Not a good place to be with family except for it's rich historical backgrounds, there's lots of dust in the air and the city is very very outdated.

More about Kolkata
Given Kolkata’s size, history, and culture, visitors to this city will not be without something to see or do. Every October Kolkata gets transformed into one giant party as the Durga Puja festival takes place. This Hindu celebration is extremely important for followers of the faith, and therefore many people flock to Kolkata to take part in the festivities.
Many people who come to Kolkata have some knowledge of the famed Mother Theresa of the same city, who dedicated her life to loving and caring for those forgotten and cast out by society. The Mother Teresa’s Mission and Motherhouse is a famous landmark where many people not only go to see the small museum and even spend time in religious prayer, but also volunteer their time and services to continue in her mission.
Victoria Memorial Hall is perhaps the most famous landmark in Kolkata, a stunning white marble monument located in the center of the city. There are several hotels near Victoria Memorial, within easy reach of this landmark and many others in the city center.
There’s much more to see and experience in Kolkata, and the interactive map on this page is a great way to find out where the attractions and hotels can be found in this exciting city.
