Best hotels & accommodations in Kyaikhtiyo

The quiet resort style accommodations here were clean, wifi worked well, shower had hot water and beds were comfortable. Staff had limited English ability, but it was enough to help travelers understand what they need to do to get up to the famous Kyaiktiyo Pagoda/Golden Rock. They can also help book night bus tickets to other parts of Myanmar (Bagan, Inle Lake, etc.),...

The room was very clean and made me wonder for a second that I was actually paying the right price (for the positive side). We requested the hotel to arrange a transportation from Yangon to Kyaikhtiyo via Bago, which was arranged at a decent price. Although we were made to wait at the Airport for about 2 hours for the pick up to show up, with troublesome telephone l...

The property is on the higway from Yangon to Golden Rock. Many coaches stop by for lunch here. We were coming from Golden Rock and spent the night at the resort. I have no complaint on the room, service and meal apart from the higher prices charged as compared to similar facilities in Mawlamyine where we came from. I suppose this is tourists price and my guide told me....

The stay is good. It is in close proximity to the bus station where it is the only mode of transport to see the Floating Rock or Golden Rock. Breakfast is reasonable. The room is clean with comfortable bed and nice toilet. There is also wifi available with cable TV too. It is also close to the market where you can buy local tit-bits and savour some local food. It is ex...

What an amazing place!! My room was totally outstanding....hot water in a huge bathroom...a beautiful veranda to sit out on. My bed was really comfortable. A warm welcome from the staff. My breakfast was very fulfilling. .fried rice with fried egg and toast butter and jam with lipton tea! I didnt need to think about good until lunch! The restaurant is so chilled out a...

Probably one of the best value for money stays I have ever experienced. This is a resort mostly used as a getaway by upper middle class families from Yangon. It is a beautiful peaceful place a bit out of town, with sweeping mountain views. The restaurant serves good, clean and reasonably priced food. The service is impeccable, very high standard. Everything I needed wa...

If you are brave and on a budget, this place is great. Highly enjoyed my stay of one night and slept well. It's a place to sleep with lots of lovely plants around. Drank beer and played cards until we tucked in. There's a squat outside the main building which I enjoyed thoroughly. It's you're up for a Real experience and not luxury, by all means book it. Also, staff a...

The rooms here are very nice, but unfortunately this doesn't make up for the fact that this hotel is in the middle of nowhere (definitely not at the foot of Mt K as it suggests!!) and is so poorly run. When we arrived they didnt't have our reservation and left us waiting for a long time while they frowned and discussed amongst themselves what to do about these stranger...

I cant comment as we didnt make it to our hotel due to a mix up with our motorcycle taxi driver. We ended up in Kinpun at the Shwe Hinn Thar 'H'otel and as it was getting late and 30 minute drive back we decided to stay there instead which was perhaps a bad decision as the room at the Hotel was mouldy and mosquito ridden, oh well. At least we were closer to golden r...

pay the hotel charge only after you check the room condition. To make it short, the room ($20) was horrible (the room was already full with twin beds), so paid another $10 for better room (best room, the owner said). But it was still bad. The towels looked years old and air condotioner didn't work well. To make it short, this hotel is the worst.

Traveler impressions of Kyaikhtiyo
The City is heavy underrated and most guest only come for the Golden Rock. Ask for a swim in the clear water, visit to Mahasi Meditation, Hiking from behind the Lotus Da Dar hotel.
A nice village, but only a stop over point for the golden rock. The shops are open till quite late, so no need to worry even if you arrive after sunset.
Golden Rock Pagoda is the must-visit place. Take a truck to get there. If you want to sit in driver's room, please go book earlier.
Very rural burma City area reasonably large Went during thingyan which was an experience Like the rest of burma alot of temples etc
It is a support town for the Golden Rock Temple site in the mountains above, and 6-7 hours bus ride from Yangon.
Not many things to see this town accepted for the magnet Golden Rock people around the world come to visit.
There is nothing here in this place except to visit the pagoda on the Golden Rock, but visitors who travel from Yangon can stop by at Bago to see the largest reclining Buddha
City Kyaktiyo is for Burmese Buddhists, a kind of Mecca. Visit at least once in a life on the Golden Mountain is committed to each.
religious town, an experience to live. you can get a night bus from yangon to be on the site very early morning, visit and be the same day back to yangon without spending a night there

More about Kyaikhtiyo
The biggest attraction in this town is the large golden rock that seems to be balancing on a cliff by some miracle. The Golden Rock, as it is commonly known, is the most important landmark of this area, and even the mountain leading up to the peak is named after this golden rock. There is a Buddhist pagoda that hangs precariously over the rock, and the site is an important pilgrimage for devotees of the Buddhist faith. The religious belief is that the rock is being held in place by a single strand of Buddha’s hair.
Although there’s very little else to this town, international travelers have figured out that it has a lot to offer to the patient and active traveler. For this reason and because of the religious significance, the town sees a large number of visitors every year. There are several hotels near the Golden Rock, and around the town. Travelers looking to save some money on accommodations will find their most affordable options are clustered around the small Kin Pun Sakhan Village, while the more expensive and exclusive hotels are located along Golden Rock Mountain Road, at a higher elevation.
