This is a nice hotel to base yourself at to explore the kumihama area. The room was comfortable and you have a view of the Bay, and it’s easy to do some day trips to explore the surroundings. There is a really nice restaurant called Seg just down the road which serves delicious kumihama oysters and crabs at very affordable prices. A bit off the beaten track (kinosaki-onsen being the main place to visit in the area) but pleasant to get away from the tourists. Most of all, the hotel staff were outstanding. 1. When I arrived at Toyooka Station to take the shuttle bus I waited at the wrong exit, and the driver, instead of driving off, came to this exit to check if I was waiting there. 2. The front desk Inoue-San personally took me to kumihama town in his own vehicle and arranged for a special trip later in the day to send me to my station to catch my train to the airport. The hotel is on a hill and has nice view of the surroundings, giving a very relaxed feel. The hotel staff kindly picked us up from the Kyotango-omiya station not only on the day of arrival, but also whenever we went out. We did walk back from the station once.. a bit of a walk but definitely manageable, especially if the weather is nice. We booked their western room with tatami area, which has a nice, huge toilet. The tatami area was also great for our group to gather to have some tea and snacks at night. We generally enjoyed our stay there, although the room is slightly dated and could do with some refurbishment. During our stay, we ate at the in-house restaurant twice. The food is tasty and really reasonably priced compared to the city.
