1\ love the sunset, so peaceful, so beautiful. 2\ love the seafood restaurants behind the beach, delicious and good value.
3\ not so many tourist, not too crowed and noisy. 4\ but you can only buy the beer in limited store which can be understood.
we rent a car at the airport upon arrival. the price is reasonable. we use waze for all the journey. but most of the places i went is near airport area.
it takes around 30 minutes such as cable car, crocodile farm, cenang beach, underwater world. is a bit too far from kuah town. i suggest to just stay somewhere near cenang beach. there is more crowded and a lot of nice foods...
A beautiful island, got lots of activities, eg. jet ski, mangrove trip, car riding, fishing.. The seafood is also very delicious!
Langkawi is duty free island and you might consider to tour to whole duty free outlets (mostly located at Kuah) to survey chocolates, dinning wares and sarongs.
I would suggest for you to rent a bike to avoid heavy traffic in Kuah & Cenang expecially during festive eve.
Basically is a small place but a relaxing for family and couple. Good to spend 1-2 night for drink and refreshing the mind.
Well developed town. The ferry terminal is really 3rd country standard, faulty aircon without maintenance, unorganized boarding system.
If plan for Next trip will travel by air only.
definitely a duty free shopping haven. Alcohol and Tobacco tops the list but I see a lot of kitchenware, especially Correle, being a top shopping item.
Branded polo T-shirts and Chocolates are also popular. Outdoor activities and island hopping with nature walks is something you can plan on. You need to rent a car to get around. Or charter a van if your group is big. Else, budget for taxis.
Places to Visit + Island Hopping (Pregnant Maiden Isalnd, Eagle feeding, etc.,) + SkyBridge, Cable Card, 3D Art Museum + Mangrove Park, Buddha temple, waterfalls
driving in langkawi is quite good as the road there not complicate at all, beaches there are nice, like the life there, quite relax, the sky cable there not bad to visit and walk around but not in peak season.
Fanstatic seafoods, nice beaches and sun. Great view from the cable car. Duty free chocolates and wines.
Beautiful Island, but the shopping appears to be aimed at lower income bracket...lots of cheap products.
They need more arts and crafts with high added value for the traveller with money. Its even difficult to find good quality batik here.
Look around for cheap ground tour which offer the same package, have a break at the Nest-rooftop Agate Royal Hotel along Cenang beach where you can have a breathtaking and spectacular view of the sea especially the sunset at the same time enjoy your drinks/food.
Go island tour/hopping/Mangrove tour/Skycab/Skybridge/Telaga Tujuh/Helicopter ride etc.
the place is good with nice beaches and a good choice of restaurants/cafes, do take island hopping trip for half a day, amazing and very cheap
The Cenang Beach is a place where you really need to visit. Nice view and white sandy beach are to die for
we found the island large and very interesting. the geology of the region is amazing. take time to visit or talk to the people from the UNESCO world heritage office by the cable way also I believe they have people and an office at the mangrove tour and bat cave area.
you can go with them if you are interested in the geology and finer points of interest. look up UNESCO contacts.
Nice infrastructure in general, helpful inhabitants, plenty of sun & sea activities for everyone... However, things are getting expensive & can be comparable to prices in KL, especially food in the restaurants.
Good place for holidays and please aid the long holidays to visit Langkawai as this place would be crowded and the service standard would drop, as expected.
langkawi has the main attraction of Skybridge (cable Car), - a must visit in Langkawi. The other main attraction is visiting island around Langkawi, its fun!
Renting a car to travel around the island is a good idea but you might want to book it in advance as it can be very popular especially during peak season.
Another mode of travelling will be taxi. Taxi is rather convenient and the price is fixed. Taxis do not run on meter in Langkawi and the drivers can tell you the price by heart when you tell them the place you want to go.
ISLAND HOPING is a must try activity when you are in Langkawi! this trip will cost you around rm30-rm35 per person and they will bring us to visit 3 different island which are Tasik Dayang Bunting, Pulau Beras Basah and Pulau Lang (eagle feedin session).
to enjoy the utmost activities, recommended to come during school holidays. However, to those who are planing to reach Langkawi by bus or ferry, please ensure to get the ticket earlier.
Plan ahead on your travel such as hotels, which area to stay, places to go to avoid time wasting. Overall this is the best place to go for relaxing, sight seeing, beaches and island hopping and the utmost of all... shopping!
Very laid back town. very pristine beaches. the Geopark was wonderful. the seafood was so fresh and excellent.
very very friendly people especially if you could speak a little malay.
Langkawi is a quite/calm city where you can sit back and relax ..enjoy beaches, water falls..with nice sea food /drinks in the evening! Ofcourse, Vegetarians like me will have less options except few reasturants.
.Tomato Nasi Kandar is a budget eating joint ..Tulasi Gardens can be tried once.. Mumbai Palace was good too...Taj Mahal was OK OK...
If you come to Langkawi, you must take the Island Hopping trip at the Teluk Baru Jetty for RM45 per person.
The trip is around 3 hours where the boatman will bring you to Pulau Dayang Bunting, Pulau Singa Besar and Pulau Beras Basah. Then, late afternoon you must go to Pantai Cenang to see the sunset at the beautiful beach and enjoy the nightlife by the roadside of Pantai Cenang. For the food, you must try Saby's Cafe food truck at Pantai Kok. The food is marvellous. You must also try Coco's Bistro. The food is also marvellous and the price is fair.
Fantastic island. Lots of place to visit. Seafood is cheap and for non-muslim, alcohol is cheap as well since Langkawi is duty free island.
Good if you can rent a car and drive on your own. Cost to rent one sedan car (e.g. Honda City or Toyota Vios) is RM80 - RM120/day.
Generally is good but there are too many of illegal car rental there. The authority departments should look into this issue seriously.
A best place go away from your work. A peaceful place where you can regain your energy levels. A beautiful place which you should not miss.
nice shop at oriental village, got cable car for sky bridge langkawi, duck town and telaga harbour park , nice eagle square at kuah jetty
