Find Hotels in Matsue, Japan

This is the best hotel I have stayed ever in Japan. The JR station is a 3- min walking distance. Restaurants locates nearby. I found bad smell on the first night in the room I stayed which was located in the pet-allowed floor. I asked to change room and the front desk assigned another room for me right away. The hotel provides noodle soup every night from 9:30 ~11:00 pm without any charge. You also can wash and dry your cloths free, even the detergent is free. The only one thing I would complain about is the room is small, not even have a space to wide open my middle-size luggage without blocking walkway. But small hotel room in Japan is quite common. There is also no view at all for every room. I would recommend to everyone who will spend the night in Matsue.

We had some significant dietary restrictions and the hotel went beyond the call to ensure that we were accommodated. One of our best meal experiences in Japan was dinner at this hotel. The one downside of our visit was that smoking and non-smoking rooms are not segregated so that our non-smoking room was at the end of the corridor and we had to walk by several smoking rooms all of which had open doors (a strange custom for us but maybe not for a group of Japanese colleagues who seemed to be at the hotel together). Regardless if was not pleasant and would not happen in many hotel.

Great 3-nights stay. The room is cleaned everyday, they also change the towels, glass, bathroom mat, and yukata (no need to bring your own pajamas!) daily. The staff are all nice, they speak English and you can store your luggage before check-in time. The tap water is drinkable and actually tastes good. The location is superb, Matsue Station (train/bus) is literally in front of the hotel :D

I was a little skeptical about the place as I only went through the review after I booked the hotel. After staying at the place, I am glad to skip the reviews before I booked. The place was so new (Well, they looked very new to me) and clean it was way over value for the price they charged. It feels like a high end club house to me. The bed is very comfortable. The tube is spacious, the shower room is fantastic and the lounge is like my own personal place where I can enjoy my work. It even has a special lift to bypass walking through the front hotel and get to the street. That's how thoughtful of Japanese hospitality. It is 3 minutes walk to Matsue station (Bus/Shinkasen) 1 way and 5 minutes walk to a very nice AEON mall the other way. For those who complained about no food after 6pm.... look harder at the traffic light junction and you find food at AEON mall even at 10pm. I will definitely back here if I revisit the place. Oh, did I mention Matsue has D BEST SUNSET VIEW in Japan?

We wanted to get off the beaten track in Japan, and this beautiful peninsula was perfect. My husband and I were there with our two year old, and had been worried about going to a traditional fancy ryokan and having our daughter cry and wake people or otherwise wreak havoc. This is not a fancy, onsen-style ryokan, but a family run operation., and the public areas are definitely more family than zen - but in a nice, jumbly, warm way. The owners are wonderful, warm people, who welcomed us and our daughter with no hesitation. We were upgraded to a gorgeous room overlooking the ocean - so that was lucky! But the owner also took us on a little ride on his boat around the harbor, and made amazing meals that rivaled those I've had in upscale ryokans - as well as making special child's meals for our daughter, even without our asking. There is little to do in the town - which is what we wanted - but we do recommend getting meals at the ryokan, as they are both fabulous and possibly the only game in town for breakfast and dinner! There is a quite amazing shrine two minutes walk away that has morning and afternoon ceremonies, a lovely hike to a lighthouse, and some streets to wander - or you can just sit and watch the harbor. Matsue, which is a tourist town with a neat castle and etc. is about an hour away and made for a nice day trip.

My boyfriend and I stayed here one night during a week visit to Shimane, centered in Matsue city. The ryokan owner was friendly, funny, and helpful when we arrived. We communicated in Japanese, but English would have been fine as well. The ryokan is in a charming house across the street from a tenmangu shrine (which was nice to visit in the morning) and about a 10 minute walk from the main station. Our room was on the second floor. We received tea and biscuits in our room as a welcome treat. The room featured very pretty floral screens, 2 aircons, and a TV. There were shared toilets on the same floor, and a shower and onsen-style bath on the lower floor. Our hosts gave us a complimentary breakfast of yogurt, toast, jam, fresh fruit, and coffee. The whole ryokan had a great laid-back feeling. I will definitely stay at this ryokan again when I next visit Matsue! Highly recommended.

This was our first experience of a Japanese style hotel, and we were made to feel very welcome and comfortable - the hotel staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. The hotel is within walking distance of Matsue castle and the surrounding attractions. We chose to have the western style breakfast, which was very well presented and more than adequate. Our evening meal in a private dining room was a wonderful experience (a 12 course Japanese meal).

This was an interesting place, it was a forest style accommodation. all unit are independent like a chalet. It is good for a large group and must be driving. Without a car it is impossible to get to the place. It is a very nature place good view of the city from the chalet. Only problem is it cold and pretty during the night and there seems to be no heating facilities so it was a very cold night.

This is a great hotel if you're on a budget. My boyfriend and I arrived too early for check-in, but the friendly staff member at the front desk took our bags. She even put them in our room for us for when we checked in later! The hotel is around 5 - 10 minutes from the main Matsue station. There is a convenient elevator on the side of the building, in addition to the main stairs to the front door. Our room was advertised as having a "small double bed", but it was definitely big enough for two people. The room was a little worn, but we expected this for a budget hotel. However, we received complimentary razors and toothbrushes. The complimentary breakfast was also surprisingly good -- traditional Japanese breakfast with rice, fish, pickle, miso soup. If you don't want to spend a lot of money but don't want to stay in a hostel, this is a great option.

I had stayed in this guest house for 4 nights. There are two major bus stops here, one connecting to Matsue station by the city-run bus, another for a faster direct bus that goes to Matsue station or Sakaiminato. The first bus stop is next to a super market, and is within 5 minutes of walk to the guest house. The second bus stop is at the entrance of the beautiful Japanese garden Yuuchien, and it is within 10 minutes of walk from the guest house. In the super market you can buy sushi boxes or meal boxes to microwave back in the guest house, you can buy fresh fruit there, or you can buy vegetables and different ingredients to cook in the guest house. They have a cooking set and seasoning. For Yuushien, during some months of the year it opens till 8pm and therefore is even better to stay in this hostel so not to rush. One bonus experience is if the sky is clean, this island is definitely a good place to see a starry sky as there is no light pollution here. The guest house is air-conditioned with both heating and cooling, and the common area and the beds are both clean and neat. The host Mackey and the staff are very nice and helpful and they welcome foreign visitors. You will find out more good eating place, and everything you need to know about the island from Mackey, also the staff are all good at something, like things about bicycles and making desserts. I recommend this place to people who like natural scene, or wish to spend some time away from the city life, and I think you will find out more walking out cycling on this island.
