Best hotels & accommodations in San Diego (CA)

I had booked the Corner King room for the view. Definitely was not disappointed. Stayed there for one night only as San Diego was a spontaneous trip decided the day before and booked the room the day of. The hotel reminds me of a Vegas hotel. Very grand. It's off the ocean/bay so it's not close to the gaslamp district; that's where Lyft comes in handy. Do not take the ...

I had a great time at the Hilton. I came down to celebrate my buddy's birthday and this hotel met all of my needs. Compared to other hotels in San Diego, this might be the best bang for your buck. Highly recommended to anyone, especially solo travelers.

When In San Diego there is so much to do and see. My husband and two young children wanted to experience the perfect family staycation. We are familiar with beaches and nearby cities . San Diego is all in one. The location for the hotel is perfect due to the fact you have access to the beaches, historical artifacts and the downtown near by. Location Wise , 100% could...

Valet parking and great location to see all of downtown San Diego. Access to the I-5 allows you to travel up and down the coast and see more sites. There isn't a full size pool but they have a spa pool which I was unaware of until the day before I left. The doors to the rooms open up into an inner courtyard. I was expecting a Marriott or Hilton type hotel with hallways...

I've stayed at this hotel a couple of times and it never disappoints. The property is beautiful with San Diego Harbor to the front and a marina to the back. The rooms are beautiful and the beds are exceptionally comfortable. There is a pool area onsite, although I have never used it or even seen it. The restaurant is good and will accommodate take out orders. Eve...

The staff make you feel like family. They go above and beyond to make your stay in San Diego the best possible. When you call the front desk they respond by answering with; Hello this is xxx, I can help you with anything. And they do! Late night extra water? Done. Extra towels? Done. Refill of what you were missing at breakfast time? Done. Big shout out to Keith and ...

The front desk staff were very friendly. The room was clean and comfortable. The onsite cafe was excellent! The food and pricing was so good we ate there even on the days we were not guest at the hotel. The hotel is great for the price and I would definitely stay there again next time we're in San Diego!

From the moment I arrived at valet everyone was welcoming and very hospitable. The front desk agent Justice was very friendly. I had the upgrade to the club access which had a nice selection throughout the stay. Walking around the property I was greeted by my last name more than one time which was very nice. I would 100% recommend this property to others and I ...

The staff were polite and patient, checking in was a breeze. They do require a $100 deposit upon check-in so be aware. It seems that due to the low price and location there are alot of folks on hotel vouchers staying there. However, it is safe and clean on the inside. Great value if you just need a place to stay for the night in San Diego.

I was pleasantly surprised how clean the our room was since the cost of the room was reasonably low. The bathroom was very clean and the room had everything and extra stuff we needed. It has mini refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, Internet, ironing board and iron, plenty of hangers, and many more. The beds were very comfortable and we slept well. The staff were...

We love this hotel! Upon checking in, they give out their complimentary cookies. It was to die for! My kids kept asking for more. Rooms are big, laundromat available, good location and courteous staff. We had a memorable stay here than the Hilton across where the staff at front desk were rude. Staff here were very accommodating!

Nothing too wrong with the hotel, but overall, but I had better in previous Best Westerns and for cheaper at a nicer location. This one, my room faced the 805 freeway. And the door was NOT soundproof from the traffic nor from the guest who decided to smoke & talk on the phone outside my room. But the walls were good, as I could not hear my neighbors. The room was ver...

Was able to catch a great deal on this hotel near the heart of downtown San Diego/Gas lamp quarter compared to nearby hotels outside the area. Proximity to Amtrak station, stores, restaurants was excellent. Also the area felt where hotel located felt safe and fairly quite as it's on the edge of gaslamp where many of the tourist and party goers attend. Rooms was a bi...

The location of hotel is at the historic heart of San Diego. Closing to Convention Center, Petco Park Stadium and lots of other landmarks. The working staff were very nice and friendly. The breakfast included in room fee is good, but not so many choices of food. The room is clean and comfortable. However, the facilities are a little bit out of date. The air conditioner...

I was pleasantly surprised when I drove up to this hotel in that it was charming and it did not have that big hotel, square-box feel to it. The rooms were clean and beds were comfortable too. The only downside for me was that the parking garage ceilings were low for my large SUV with rack on top. I had to maneuver slowly; but, I survived. :-) Overall, it is a grea...

Located on Harbor Island, this Hilton is 5 minutes away from SAN airport, so very convenient. The hotel is bright and clean with friendly staff; the parking lot is gated and well-lit. The beds are very comfortable and the room was very clean. Being right on the water with open water on one side and the marina on the other side is very picturesque. The hotel ...

It`s very convenient to San Diego Zoo. Very clean, room is big,and everything is organized (small dining table, 2 chairs, coffee machine, refrigerator.) It is not included a breakfast, but there is absolutely nice cafe in property.( Stuff is soooo helpful and very delicious.) Unfortunately we couldn't close the thick curtain . So it scared us with only thin curtain ...

I know it's USA and hotel prices are in average much higher compared to other countries but the value for money is disappointing. Positiv: The hotel has a nice courtyard and staff is friendly, the food quite good. Negative: The rooms smell of chlorine and definitely need renovation as well as noice protection from the neighbour rooms. But what really annoye...
Cheapest hotels in San Diego (CA)

Flooded toilet urinile during entire stay. I brought this to housecleaner woman and she said I will get it up but did not. This may be OK in other countries but pestilance and disease spread quickly and when intwined with berthing (PNUMONIA/ FLU/ DYSENTARY/ becomes possible especially with the current ventilation system. Please correct at once ( keep it DRY and HEALTH...

The hostel was very dirty and old. The bed and bathroom were smelly and dirty. There was nothing in the hostel even no drinking water. Also, it took you 10-15 mins to get to the metro station. A bit far from downtown. The staff was not responsible as they were always late for work.

Yeah the hotel is clean and basic but was perfect for my gf and I to spend sometime downtown at a reasonable price....be ready for a lot of homeless when you walk around the town though, that is nothing to do with the hotel but a sad situation in San Diego. Location is also convenient to walk down to the Midway, that would be my recommendation. One of the best services...

For such a reasonable weekend rate, this place is an excellent choice for travelers who value cleanliness, no frills, friendly staff, quiet neighborhood, ample parking, and good proximity to the university, downtown SD, airport, and Mission Bay. We were pleasantly surprised that it included breakfast which included cereal, oatmeal, fruits, bagels, toast, hard boiled eg...

After reading some comments, originally I was worried about roach and beg bug, but I found none during my one-week stay in the hotel. Pros: • The room was quite new and clean. It offered assorted sockets for you to charge your devices. • The breakfast had various options like waffle, toast, egg, sausage, and apple, so you can start your day with a well-balanced meal....

We'd stayed for around a week there. The car could be just parked outside the door. The breakfast has limited choice, and not tasty at all. Do not expect much on the breakfast. Nevertheless, there were starbucks and cheap restuarants just next to the motel that it's much cheaper than those located in downtown. Supermarkets and TK were found next to the motel that you c...

The hotel was clean and comfortable, with rooms of a good size. Although we were next to a busy motorway, the noise wasnt too bad. The staff are very helpful. I asked where a coin laundry was and the guy printed out the directions for me. A great choice of breakfast too.

This property has been plagued with management problems for many years ! ( Automobile break ins ) ( Maid staff Rebels) Parking lot is shared with ORIENTAL RESTAURANT where LIQUOR is served and opened late ! The prior Management was such that your auto was broke into religiously as a guest .

I love this Hotel . It is so convenient and accommodating. But there are some issues that should have some attention. I don't mean to complain , however as being from a family of hotel ownership in much smaller communities I can point out some mistakes the hotel has. Yes I would recommend this hotel, the prices and the excellent convenient locations is the best. You...

I recently spent one night at the San Ysidro Rodeway Inn. Overall I enjoyed my stay. My room was well lit and nicely appointed with a mini fridge and microwave oven. Large flat-screen TV with at least two dozen basic and premium cable channels. Lots of dining choices in the area. This is the closest US hotel to the border. Just walk three blocks south and you're there....

Easy to find with restaurants across the street. An medium sized outdoor pool would be perfect if there is a toilet/ change room next to it. Above standard motel with nice staff and lots of travel info available. Wash basin separately located next to the bed which was a bit weird. Overall it is a great place to stay en route a road trip.

Location was within walking distance of everything we wanted to see while in San Diego. would recommend they have coffee available in the mornings though. We had to walk 3 doors down to get the small breakfast, and there was only one pot for two hotels worth of patrons.

One of the worst hotel experiences we have ever had. By far the worst Hilton experience we have ever had. We had to pay to park. The heater emitted cold air. No mirror on the desk (make-up for the lady), no CNN in the room and we had to pay for Internet AND PAY FOR A REFRIGERATOR. Upon voicing my opinions on the matter the general manager offered us a complimentar...

I greatly enjoyed my stay at the Westin Gaslamp Quarter. Check in was awesome and quick. Parking is valet and a little pricey ($39 per night) but I expected it at least it includes in & out privileges. Perfect location, not totally in the center of the Gaslamp Quarter so it's still quiet but only a short walk away. Small pool, but we are sooo close o the beach why sett...

The SHERATON MISSION VALLEY is a GREAT place to stay for a number of reasons. The location allows for you to get to many attractive and poplar spots in San Diego with relative ease...if you have vehicle. Relying on public transportation in San Diego can be a drag and adds so much time to your travel. However if you have car you are in good shape. Mission Valley Mall...

i was in san diego for a conference at the convention center earlier this month, and all the conference-recommended hotels were very expensive or booked. luckily, i found this hotel, and i couldn't have been more pleased! it's just 1/2 mile from the convention center (closer than some of the other conference hotels), 2 blocks from petco park, and a few blocks more from...

Chris and I travel a lot, and while we may regularly say that we should write reviews, in reality we don’t often do it. On this occasion however, it’s an absolute priority for us that we take the opportunity to thank the team here for a truly wonderful experience. I had pre-arranged with the hotel for some amenities to be in the room (birthday surprise) and they were ...

The Wyndham Bayside is in a great location, right along the waterfront in Downtown San Diego. I loved that we could walk or take a scooter to some of the best places in downtown. Our room was wonderful, felt luxurious, and was well taken care of. The mattress and sheets were good quality. The only thing I would caution anyone with is parking in a downtown hotel. We kne...

The hotel is nice, unfortunately we seemed to have picked a bad weekend. Our neighbour's the first night were fighting loudly half the night. The 2nd night the neighbour's on the other side partied well into the early hours. There does not appear to be any night staff around to deal with these sort of issues. I had to chase up the manager to have our room cleaned and b...

Traveler impressions of San Diego (CA)
san diego mixes both old world charm and new age effieciency in a grand city. transportation and shopping areas are good, ppl are v friendly and rule abiding.
I would do more then 5 if i was to really get to enjoy and look around, San Diego is a impressive city, lots of lovely people.
San Diego has just about everything you could want in a city. Great downtown nightlife area in the Gaslamp district.
I am really impressed by the multi-options of the food and restaurant in San Diego downtown. Gaslamp quarter is a must for visiting.
quite a comfort city , but nothing special beside the few attractions sucs as zoo , sea world, uss midway, and etc
San Diego is very close to Los Angeles, it took only one hour-driving. Recommended for getting another sight of america as here you can find many Mexican people as it's so close to Mexico City.
There are so many things to do! outside of the Gaslamp area it's not convenient to taxi everywhere- make use of the trains/trolleys where possible.
Read "Invention and Reinvention: The Evolution of San Diego's Innovation Economy" for a full report. Available at a discount on Amazon.
San Diego is one of our favorite destinations. Old Town, the beaches, Gaslamp Quarter, and the areas just up the coast, less than an hour away are spectacular.
Beautiful city, I'm definitely considering my next and longer stay. It's much quieter than the cities in used to therefore I felt as f I could unwind and just enjoy my stay.
Picturesque, tranquil city. Very safe. Lots of history. Sea World, the San Diego Zoo, and the Gaslamp Quarter all provide family/group fun and entertainment.
SD was such a lovely city! Great food, a nice 'town' feeling and a lot of things to see and do. Visit the zoo, drive to mission bay and have a fish taco and work on your tan, drive 20 min south to Las American Premium Outlet for shopping etc.
A city with zoo and safari for animals; nice harbour and cruises to explore; relax to dine in a restaurant by the seaside; close to Tijuana for mexico experience.
Surprisingly clean and attractive city with good sightseeing. Weather was good even in December. Not very crowded.
Party town. Outlets just by the Mexican immigration. Whale watching. Beaches - sun, sand & the sea. The Zoo & LegoLand for the young children
This was my first real look at San Diego and the area. I found the people to be very friendly and a surpisingly LGBT and alternative friendly community.
The transit system in San Diego is easy to understand and use. It's also very cheap. Spend some time working out the system and you could basically travel around San Diego quite cheaply without a car.
Not a bad place is your expectations aren't very high. Nice bars and clubs, and good nightlife for the younger set.
