If you haven't visited much in Asia then Taipei is your choice. Taipei is like a mix of Japan (Osaka for specific) and Singapore and Thailand.
It is a great place for food as there are lots of night markets selling delicious yet cheap street food. It is a must to try the stinky tofu and bbq sticks there. About sightseeings Jiufen, Long Shan Temple cannot be missed, but the National Palace Museum... it is crowded with Chinese so you can skip it, you won't get to enjoy it though. The weather is bad, it rains all the time so prepare umbrella. It is a great place to visit in Asia where you can enjoy a mixture of culture and architecture just at one place
Many attractions, shopping & dining. Usual 4-5 days is good enough to cover Taipei alone, but definitely requires 7-10 days to cover the other cities like Taichung/ Kaoshiung.
Travel to Taipei can be by the way of purchasing package. It is important to go to the night market (Shilim)at week day to have a walk, there will be many people at weekend.
People are friendly if you approach them and ask for a direction altough English language is an issue very often, but they still want to help you.
Otherwise, nobody will pay attention to you although you obviously look like a tourist. Felt very safe in Taipei at all times.
My first trip to Taipei and I'm looking forward for another. Thanks to the cab driver. I took 7 months to prepare this trip and it never fail me.
Food is so nice. I'll definelly be back again!
I visited Taipei for the first time during the Chinese new year and peak season. There are many interesting places to visit.
It has rich cultural heritages and excellent public transportation. Food, goods and services in Taipei are surprisingly affordable unlike popular destinations in other countries. I had bad experiences in Taipei because there are just too many people, which obviously degrade quality of goods and services in everywhere you go. I saw a long line of people waiting to get in or take out food from well known restaurants. Unfortunately, I had to get food from KFC or convenient stores many times. It must be one of the most densely populated cities in the world. It's like walking through an ant colony.
I do really love this place that appreciating different arts, such as art pieces, music, local culture.
Friendly city and no worries of night out if you was alone. most of the goods are in fixed rate, therefore hassle free , not like china .
..bargain bargain and bargain. this city offered varieties of good foods ... stalls or restaurants.
Get a "relax travel card" at any MRT station which allow your to enjoy 20% on all your trip with MRT & Bus fare
I love Taipei and would love to come back to Taipei with my mommy or husband one day. People are very friendly and weather is nice.
Would like visit some cultural place in Taipei one day.
We stayed in Taipei for 10 days and enjoyed every single day. Visited almost all places of interest and eaten almost everything on the street and restaurant.
Traveling free and easy on our own is definitely much better than with tour group, more time for everything and have better control of our life. Would come back to Taiwan soon.
Shopping area, good weather on month Dec and Jan. People is friendly. A lot of good taste street food.
One of my favorite place. Residents is friendly and helpful. Public transport give convenient to tourist.
Plenty to eat, plenty to shop and plenty to explore. I spent about 4 nights in the city and it is not enough.
food quality is good on the average. locals are very very friendly. the shopping is good during festive seasons.
I've been to Taipei twice and stayed at a few different areas, which were all very different from each other.
You can basically check out what they have through a Google search. The place has changed a lot over the years - overall a nice place and I had a pleasant stay. Loved the cool weather in December. Would definitely go back.
if you wish to do currency exchange, do either in your country or else change directly at the airport or bank to get a better rate.
We tried the Modern Toilet in Ximending, its kinda weird to eat in toilet bowls, urinal bottles but it was fun and the food was also good
It's a city with super convenient MRT(subway) system, you can just go every where by yourself and safety, oh, cap is every where as well, no worries!
Very convenient and friendly city where it helps you to travel around no matter with MRT or Taxi. You can easily get a taxi just in 5 minutes.
TAIPEI IS A NICE CITY, CLEAN AND VERY COMFORTABLE TO TRAVEL, THE WIFI CONNECTION IS REALLY EASY TO FIND.
THE BUS IS VERY CLEAN AND EASY TO REACH. THE MTR IS VERY COMFORTABLE. VERY RECOMMENDED CITY. ALSO THE FOOD IS DELICIOUS
Have good nature view and good maintain the old town to attract traveler , some local foods is quick good and with reasonable price.
One thing is not good is the have minimum spend per person if not mistake is min. NT50 at some of the restaurant Last day when we want have some food at airport restaurant we have 11 person we can't order set for 5-6 person we are not choice to order for 2sets and is too much for us. When the served the dishes and we notice one of the fdish is totally cool and they reserve with hot dish however we are short of time and cause is too much cause we must ordered 2 sets(must order for 11 person) we can't finish and we reject it . At last they give us 10% discount on total bill cause of the cool dish they served.
wonderful stay. The traffic system had improved over last ten years. The art system reaches most of the attractions.
the city is clean but most of the building not properly maintenance
Taipei is really good and well-known for streets food and shopping. basically I couldn't even try all the foods that i want during my 5 days trip.
Thus I would suggest a trip more than a week will be ideal. Easily accessible to other places like Taoyuan etc via trains.
Taipei has a combination of culture, nightlife, dining and shopping which is suitable for people of different ages.
Apart from the a bit chaotic road traffic if you are not used to, everything is pretty much ok and good to explore in Taipei.
Night markets are one of the must-gos in Taipei, almost every area has a night market. You can find a whole lot of variety of food over there and a shopping heaven for shoppers. If you want fresh air and relaxing hiking, can go yang ming shan, it's big enough to spend a whole day over there. Qing Tian Gang at yang ming shan is very beautiful but it's quite a walk unless you take the internal shuttle bus over there. But for me, I personally love to walk up over there and feel the accomplishment. The people over there are generally friendly and helpful to answer your needs should you need any help, feel free to ask them.
It is a very tourist friendly place with many sighseeing attractions. Shopping and eating spots are plenty and value for money.
Overall, very pleasant place with mild weathers.
Good Transportation system. 24 Books store. Many Many good food....Should put extra night to get to know the people here instead of rushing for food/places and leave.
Hostel is great here. It's safe to travel here.
Fun city, most, if not all, places are accessible through public transport, which is extremely reliable, making touring the city a breeze.
There's a lot to do in Taipei, and in Taiwan. It is one of my favourite places on earth. You can easily get into Taipei and go to other provinces / states using their metro / bullet train.
Public transport is quite well-run (however you may want to skip the taxi as I think it is very expensive compared to trains / mrts / buses). From bookstores to shopping malls to day/night markets and even theme parks, it's fun and exciting in Taipei city!
