Find Hotels in Yufu, Japan

there are essentially two types of villas - the standard japanese villa and the 'hybrid' villa which has western style beds. my villa was large by japanese room standards. two rooms, each 6 tatami mats. this excluded the bathroom and toilets, the indoor tub and the garden and out door tub. check in was a breeze even though the staff did not speak much english. they went through the questions of what time i wanted dinner and breakfast and what time my transfer into town was to be. be warned, dinner is a kaiseki meal, so be on time! if you are late you'll have no food. dinner was served at the restaurant as was breakfast. however as i was alone i had a private 'cubicle' on the upper deck which limited my views a little. my main gripe was that though the ryokan is only a 10 minute drive away from the station, it's really too far to walk back to town to explore. but to get that unspoilt view of the valley and mt. yufu some sacrifices have to be made.

First of all, everything is so beautiful! we were so fascinated with its fantastic interiors- the lobby, room and outdoor hot spring tub, dining room, and all the details. Especially, the dishes were so beautifully decorated that I felt like I was dining at a luxury finest restaurant. Of course the taste was the best ever! Needless to say, the staffs are very kind and helpful. I deeply appreciate that they tried to arrange a room upon my request although I changed my mind a few times. Actually I suggest that that you do some research on the rooms in advance as each room has different themes. Lastly, the outdoor hot tub was amazing. We stayed at room YAMAMOMO, and its wooden framed hot spring tub was very spacious and so beautiful. We especially loved that it allowed to control the water temperature very easily by turning the hot and cold water faucets at the same time. Actually, it was my first trip to Japan, but thank to Itsuki, now I can't wait to revisit Japan!

The place is quiet and relaxing, with good location for sightseeing around; though it takes around 10 mins walk from the Yufu JR train station. The staff is very nice indeed and we were very lucky to be upgraded to deluxe room. The room is huge and clean, and with private outdoor hot spring( In deluxe room, I'm not sure if there is one in the standard room). And there is a public indoor hot spring for use. The staff are very nice and helpful indeed. The staff has helped us to fix the wifi in our room and recommend us a very nice local restaurant. Plus, the staff speck good English. :) We have so much fun in this hostel, and we will surely come back again if we visit to Yufu next time. If you are looking for a relaxing, quiet place and want to experience traditional Japanese house with a reasonable price, you can definity consider this place.

The hotel lobby is cozy decorated with many crafted wooden ceiling and furniture. The staffs are not many but you can tell they make the best of their jobs. It's my first time trying Japanese 會席料理, we are satisfied with chef's hard work. All dishes were like an art piece. Thanks!! Hot spring are amazing, you can enjoy the quietness and stars above the sky! Wonderful stay, thank you!

Trip 9th to 14th Nov, Yufu, Beppu and Hakata. First night staying at Hotel Baien. Late check in at 7:15pm due to highway bus fully booked until 5:00pm. Once check in, we were brought to the dinning floor! (They know us..... we are starving!). Dinner was so nice! Around 9:00pm, finished our dinner, we were shown to the facilities (hot spring area) and our room (Japanese Style)! Service 100% excellent! Meal 100% Baien Style! This is a 100% top onsen hotel in Yufu. Don’t forget to try out the private onsen especially for couple and family use or.... if you are too shy! 🙈

Based on the price for a night (as compared to the top few in Yufu), inclusive of kaiseki dinner and breakfast and their onsen with a view, this place was one of my top picks while deciding on ryokans in Yufu. The service was by Japanese standards, the food was mind-blowingly amazing (room price includes the standard course dinner but you can write in to the hotel to top up for the premium set), the outdoor onsen was just as i imagined and they also had 2 private onsens for booking. Note that rooms do not include shower so it is normal for bathes at the onsen. You will not regret the view that comes.

the best hotel compared with my other stays in kyushu (beppu and fukuoka). The hotel was located next to the river and gives the view of mt. yufu from the walking path in front of the hotel. 15 minutes walk from the JR Yufuin Station, 670¥ by taxi. 10 minutes walk from the hotel to Kirin lake. Private onsen can be used at the hotel for every type of rooms. Yufuin was a little colder compared to the other towns in Kyushu during summer due to a surroundings (nature).

Wonderful place with really good and kind staff. Its a bit away from the main streets of yufu but still close enough to get there effortlessly. A great feature of this place is the distance to a supermarket just a few buildings away. Private bath is also exceptional but please mind the customs. The only flaw is that the rooms are a bit dated with some signs of wearing, same goes with the furniture. Overall one of our best stays yet.

It was my first time to go to kyushu and Yufuin. At the first time, actually we didn't know what kind of hotel would be good for me and my friend to have a package travel there. But we all think we made a good decision to choose Yufuin kirinko hotel. The staff there was really friendly and the room was really wide than we could imagine. The best thing I have to say is that the breakfast served. It was served in an elegant art coffee shop just beside the Kinrinko, 5min away from the hotel by feet. So we really had a wonderful morning there, seeing the beautiful scenery beside the lake. If I could go to Yufuin again, I would definitely choose Yufuin Kirinco hotel.

Excellent Hotel. The lobby is beautiful, free drinks at the lobby area, there is a shared kitchen in case you want to cook or microwave something. There are 4 private onsens, guests take turn to use them. Booking required at some timings and not required at some timings. Open air foot bath, hotel atmosphere, rooms, all nicely done. Most of the hotel staff speak good English.

I had pleasant stay here. It was my first time in Yufuin and my first time of my parents in Japan. We've been in Japan for 6 days and Yufuin night at Tawaraginosato Yasoda was the best. I don't mind the public onsen but my family never experienced onsen so it's great the hotel has private onsen and that made this trip even more special! It takes about 15 minute from Yufuin station to this hotel. The map from website is not clear at all. I suggest you ask the tourist information counter for the map, Japanese people there can speak English. There is actually pickup service but when I wrote in to ask about it, the ryokan did not reply me. So we dragged our luggage up the slope... There are English, Mandarin speaking stuff so communication isn't a problem for people who do not speak Japanese. Best facilities, fantastic food, good service and if you have special food preference, you can either write in early to inform or inform them once you check in. As long as the ryokan knows before the start of the meal, safe!

When you choose to travel to Japan, one thing you would expect to experience must be the high level qualitative service. In this hostel that is definitely something you can experience. When we walked in the doorway, the staff opened the door with smile and greeted us in Japanese. Though we don't speak Japanese, we could sense that he was trying to explain everything in Japanese and his limited English wordings. He was so pleased to see we finished every dish and even not a single drop of soup was left out from the dinner.

We had a half-board stay with upgraded meal and private onset. The room was beyond our expectation. The design for Oyado Kaikatei Ryokan was a like a village and each guest could have a house of their own, including a sitting room, bedroom, bathroom, a tea-area, an indoor onsen and an outdoor onsen. The water in the onsen was slightly salty but we felt like its more like a hot water bath. Yet, we still spent much time enjoying the onsen and idling in the room, which was perfect for our vacation. The upgraded dinner option entailed a set of beef, which tasted extraordinary. However, the rest of the meal was not as good as the meals we had in other onsen-hotels. The staff were welcoming and attentive. They had even prepared us both hot water and cold water for drinking in our house. There was a little leaflet on our house's table, recommending us to go out to see firefly nearby. It was an exceptional experience.

The greeting board in front of hotel shows your name once check in . Wow !! then a welcome hot tea and mochi after finishing check in . I never get this kind of service in Japan before!! The room with a view of Yufuin valley is waiting for your waking up. In room free service with a tea set and of course the snack. Public on-sen is provided. Staff is services minded oriented even they can't speak English but eager to help you all the way you are there. Recommended!!

This is the best place that I have ever stayed in Japan. I booked a room of three with breakfast and dinner. The food is so delicious that you will never forget it. The room is spacious with a private onsen. The staff who serves us is so polite and helpful that I really miss her. If I go to Yufuin again , I will definitely choose this place because it will make my trip unforgettable.

WONDERFUL STAY! The hotel is very close to the famous lake and within short walking distance if you want to see the best scene of the late in the morning. Room is spacious with hot spring bath tub. Dinner and breakfast are served in the room. They are very very delicious and beautifully presented. Hotel service is wonderful and impeccable. The pretty lady that served us can speak good English. She is polite and detail minded. Shuttle car service was provided in the morning to the train station. This is a very thoughtful service. One thing that made me feel uncomfortable is that we found a big cockroach on the wall when we were having breakfast. Thinking it might have slept with us for the whole night...... well, it wasn't that bad.... Hotel rate is not low, maybe it's due to the delicious food. It would be better value for money if it has open-air hot spring bath in the room.

I had stayed there for one night, which I have greatly regret because I just so much love the beautiful atmoshere and those wonderful indoor and outdoor onsen, I should have stayed two nights next time. Hotel itself is not huge but service is truly magnificient. Cheerful and personal, extremely patient in answering all sorts of questions about the gourmet breakfast and dinner (i am extremely interested about the food they are offering, very fresh very local, it is not cheap in staying here but well worth every penny!) They have two sets of onsens (total 4 of them), clean and quiet, I enjoyed my every second in these hot bath, though they dont have lovely view facing the sea whatsoever like other onsen. Location of hotel is rather far away (30mins slow walking from JR Yufu station) but you can enjoy a lot of shopping and local food along the way, so 30mins is not a problem for me. However you can always ask for the hotel to pick you up or drop off at station, if you have big lugguage and do not enjoy walking. The famous lake is just around the corner, make sure to travel in the morning, it is not a big lake but truly beautiful.

We stayed at Shuhokan for 2 nights while in Yufuin. We would definitely stay here again! The staff was very helpful with english speaking. The rooms were quite large and comfortable with a small refrigerator, furo style tub, and wi-fi in the room. Breakfast cost was additional and although a little expensive it was well worth it. It is difficult to find breakfast on the streets or in town. The hotel is located a little away from the "main" street. It took 5 minutes by taxi from Yufuin Station and about a 10 minute easy walk. The hotel is surrounded by rice fields with excellent view of Mt. Yufu. There are foot baths just outside the front door of the hotel, and the hotel has bicycles for rent with very scenic almost no traffic bicycle paths along the river. The hotel staff were most happy and helpful with anything we could ask of them. Very friendly and accommodating. They provided a free shuttle ride to the train station. This was a very pleasant hotel even if it was more of a "modern" style building of glass and brick. It was very comfortable in all ways, spacious and a great place to stay. It does not feel closed in or crowded like in the center of town.

I staying at this hotel with the no dinner option. The price is good and it still includes a decent breakfast. The hotel does NOT have none smoking rooms. However, the room we stayed at was cleaned to perfection and does not have any lingering cigarette smell ***other reviewers do have bad experience with some other rooms*** Unfortunately the day I stay was very stormy and rain or else Mt. Yufu would be in a beautiful clear view. If anything, this hotel should have very amazing view. Location wise it's actually about 10-15 min walk from the station and does fee like walking into a more local neighborhood. The 24-hr supermarket is close, but because of how the road is arranged, it requires you to loop around which is not that convenient. A Lawsons is much closer by. The onsen bath is actually on the 1st and 2nd floor and rotates overnight. The 2nd floor outdoor bath area have clear view of Mt. Yufu too. Bath facility wise it's your average Japanese hotel onsen and not special

* Best service including various kinds of meals with a reasonable price * They're really considerate from the start when trouble with communication. They even called a interpreter to explain detailed things. All meals they service are much better than outside restaurants in the downtown in my opinion. It's located within walking distance of Kinrinko lake(appx. 15 mins), but a little bit far from Yufuin Station&Bus terminal. They also offer free shuttle bus service from Yufuin Station between 3pm - 5pm on the 1st day and back to the station between 9 am - 11 am on the 2nd day! You may just contact the reception to make a reservation. Unfortunately, there's no markets, shops nearby, so you need to get some snacks, beverages before going back there. (Staffs are off after dinner serving and there's only a beverage vending machine!)

Worth the money especially during Japan holiday. Easy to find just in front of the JR station at your right hand side. But you need to carry your luggage to first or second floor without lift. Don't have any staff at the counter and you have to check in via videocall. They will provide password to unlock the room after video call end. Therefore pls provide them your detail completely before the day u arrive so it won't delay ur check in process. Room is spacious and clean. They do provide washing machine and dryer for free but only have 2 units. We didn't manage to try open onsen at the top floor due to typhoon hits Yufuin during our stay. Overall is a happy stay at Yufuin. Thanks Etavia

Old house in a small village. Typical Japanese style rooms, some with shared showers. - four beautiful private onsen. 2 indoor 2 outdoor. Availability can be seen on the tv in your room. Ryokan was fully booked during our stay but we never had a problem getting the onsen we wanted in the morning and evening. We also showered at the onsen so no shower in the room is no problem - beautiful home cooked food for breakfast and dinner. Portions and diversity of dishes amazing. Draft Asahi too! We stayed during rugby World Cup and owner even set up a big screen in restaurant for dinner. They also delayed dinner for those of us who went to the match. - owners so friendly and hospitable. It is family run and the owners really are so hospitable and generous. Stayed in so many hotels round the world but never felt so homely. Greeted every time you come back to the hotel with laughter and smiles. They are happy to assist you with any help you need during your stay in Japan
