pleasant surprise”

had to book a hotel in sydney in a hurry. after going through hundreds of hotels in various websites i decided to book 'devere hotel'in potts point. probably i was lucky to get a really good deal. per night for a single room suited my budget well (believe me sydney hotels are expensive). i was not impressed by the comments about this hotel but decided to take a chance. location is convenient. 500m to the kings cross railway station and the bus stop is right in front of the hotel. woolworths across the road (and coles situated 500m away) is always handy. room was quite satisfactory, bed was comfortable, reverse cycle ac keeps you warm in winter, hot water was great and housekeeping was good. reception was great at helping the customers. unable to comment on food as i could not eat from the restaurant. if only they provided free wifi ....but none of the sydney hotels give you free wifi (except backpackers) overall i was really impressed by the quality of the hotel and the room considering the price. hope that they would maintain the good standard so that i would not have to hesitate in choosing devere hotel next time around in sydney.

Great Value, Great Service”

I was traveling to Sydney with my younger sister to watch Soundwave fest and is looking for a hotel that's not too expensive yet still comfortable. I stumbled on Devere Hotel while I was browsing and saw that it has the best price and location and the reviews are good. I got a 147USD/night rate - I read somewhere that people got cheaper rate around end of January, so I assume it's probably because of the high occupancy of the hotel around the date when i stayed - but I was not disappointed. As you probably read in other reviews, it's a bit old fashioned especially the AC but everything is working just fine. The room's clean and the staff was very helpful. You need to pay 4AUD/hour for internet access, and since I stayed on the 2nd floor, the wifi signal was strong enough (the higher floor you stay, the weaker is the signal). The buffet breakfast cost 13AUD/person, but it was really good. If you're back to the hotel after midnight you need to be monitored outside the hotel door before the night duty manager allowed you to come in for security reason, so I'm quite satisfied with that, considering that kings cross area is not the safest location in Sydney. You could find and stop taxis right outside the hotel lobby door, so you don't have to walk anywhere to actually get one.

Sensational central location in Potts Point”

we were delighted to have stayed at the de vere hotel in potts point sydney just down the road from kings cross and elizabeth bay and close to my former yacht club the cruising yacht club of australia (hosts to the sydney to hobart yacht race) the staff gave us a great welcome and could not have done more and it was, so very, easy to book and the price for five nights was excellent value. we love the apollo restaurant downstairs and hugo's lounge and, particularly, hugo's bar pizza and italian run by managing director michael brayshaw and their sunday session in sensational with all the young dudes and beautiful people there! ha

Devere Hotel Kings Cross”

The Devere Hotel was excellent value for money. The hotel is located not far from the heart of Kings Cross and very close to the city. Cabs can be caught right outside the hotel. The room was well sized and had a seperate kitchenette and bathroom making it suitable for anyone looking for cheap accommodation. This is really one of the best deals in Sydney when not wanting to spend a great deal on accommodation costs.

Quiet and great location”

the stay at devere hotel was good. the price was reasonable. room was small but enough for two and it's clean. it has great view that let you take a sneak peak at the sea and yatch. just outside the hotel, there are a few cafes (eg. campos) that serves really good breakfast and coffee, and woolsworth (supermarket) just opposite the hotel. it's situated at the end of kings cross (red light district) but area was safe, quiet and different once you step into potts point, where the hotel is situated at. note: becareful when you book the hotel room, ensure it says with free wifi, or it becomes just an optional service the hotel provide.

Superstay!”

The Devere Hotel offers a great value with a stay in a somewhat older hotel, but with great service, convenient location and very attentive staff. We booked the standard room and it includes separate bathroom and kitchen with fridge. We first booked for 4 days but extended for 5 days. It is always ennoying when hotels charge additionally for internet (but unfortunately still largely applied throughout Australia), but this was then made up by the supernice staff and the daily detailed cleaning of our room. A very relaxing stay and much recommended!

the devere is an ideal destination for tourists in sydney. the hotel is clean and has a great location in potts point. maybe the hotel is not the newest, but the price and value is unbeatable

Stayed only one night here, but I would definitely come back. It is in a great location in Potts Point and the staff are excellent. Older hotel, however the facilities, rooms and bathrooms are very clean. Only downside is no free Wi-Fi, you need to pay. But otherwise, excellent stay.

Location”

The Devere is a budget hotel but at this price represents good value for money. Well located adjacent to Kings Cross. Good restaurants closeby and for those who like nightlife on edge of Kings Cross. If you have own car nearby parking will set you back $30/day but this is Sydney. Hotel getting a bit tired. Make sure you don't get given a room adjoining the lifts, otherwise you will hear ghost like clunking all night long. Hard to find a basic room at such prices in Sydney. I'll probably back unless I can find similar prices, after all I am not after facilities, stays usually one or two nights. In hotel by 8 or 8pm and check out by 7am.

Very Good Value for the Money”

I enjoyed my stay at The Devere very much. The Devere provided me with very good value for the money. It is very well located in King's Cross - so accessible to the CBD & to the rail station. I found the staff to be very helpful. I would recommend this hotel to others telling them the above positive things about it.

Excellent stay in a new room”

I enjoyed my stay at DeVere Hotel, in a newly renovated wing. I was pleasantly surprised as the rooms in this room have a different colour scheme and superior fittings to the other rooms in the hotel. I recommend this option highly.

A week in Sydney”

We stayed a week in this hotel, returning later for a further 5 nights. It is well placed for exploring Sydney, on a bus route & 5 minutes walk from the suburban railway station. You can be in the town centre in 10/15 minutes. The hotel is comfortable, quiet (ask for a room at the back, though the road at the front is not a very major one). The breakfast is expensive, and there is no restaurant for dinner, though there is an Indian restaurant attached but not belonging to the hotel. There is a supermarket just down the road where you can buy most things. The red light district, King's Cross, is just up the road, but doesn't impinge on Potts Point. Plenty of local restaurants, but mostly pricey.

Location Location Location AND inexpensive”

I always stay at DeVere when in Sydney. It is centrally located with easy access to transport. Shopping, restaurants, cinemas, parks, In fact everything I need. Staff are always helpful. I have stayed in a variety of rooms at various prices and have always been satisfied. My most significant comment is that I awlways return. Usually every two months or so.

Excellent hotel for travellers on a budget”

I enjoyed my stay at DeVere Hotel. The standout feature of this establishment is the first rate staff. Every staff member has been friendly and helpful to me, at every stay. The hotel is of an older design of a bygone era, and the rooms are distributed at split levels within individual floors. Heavy luggage can be a major hindrance. Each room has a view, and the standard rooms represent excellent value for money.

The Devere Hotel is an older style but comfortable and homely. This is my 2nd stay and i definitely will again . Woolworths and bws is across the road and plenty of eat places . Very Convenient.

I enjoyed my stay at Devere, and extended my stay there by 4 more days. The location of the hotel is good. The most great sights(like Sydney Opera House, Circle Quay, Darling Harbour, Shopping Center)are in cca 30 minutes walking distance from the hotel.

Devere Hotel Melbourne”

it is a very nice hotel located in a nice area at Potts Point, not far away from King's Cross. The neighbourhood is very nice, lots of restaurants and it is calm. Rushcutters bay is within walking distance. To get into the city one can take a in front of the hotel or the subway at King's Cross (3 minutes walk). We both liked the hotel, and we'll come back

A great location with a great price”

The Devere hotel is just out of the centre of Kings Cross which makes it a bit quieter but so very easily accessed. Friendly and helpful staff are always willing to lend a hand. Lots of eating and drinking choices around and it's an easy walk to the train station to get to the airport. Bus access is also excellent. The room I had on the 2nd floor was comfortable though aging, still great value for the price!

Weekend Re-Union”

Staff were very pleasant and informed me of the agreement with Wilson's Kings Cross Parking agreement that saved heaps of money. $240 normal rate down to $59 to the car park and $10 to the Hotel. Suggest this parking arrangement is added to the Devere Hotel website. Ideal location for someone who is down for a fun weekend as there are numerous food outlets for the weary traveller.
