As many people note it's a once high end hotel that has seen better days. So that's where the bargain comes in. Huge rooms with the basics. Bed a bit on the hard side but tolerable. A decent room with great breakfast buffet for $20! Location is within an easy couple of blocks to the night market and a number of temples. Overall one of the best deals we found in our month long multi city stay in Bangkok. The staff was very helpful as well. This is a bargain hunters delight.

Still Good Value”
The hotel is showing signs of age but thankfully it is still a good price, very good location and the staff are the best. Don't expect luxury but you will get a large clean room, a bar fridge and a city or river view. The staff as always are excellent and you can book tours or a taxi at the lobby. The tv does not have much in English but with a lot to see and do chances are you won't watch it a lot.

A Once Grand Place in Decline”
First the good news. It's in a great location. Lots of restaurants, markets, and nightlife around. It's been maintained but it very old. This is a 17 story hotel and I think I was the only one there. Never saw another guest. I was on the 4th floor and still saw some ants and one huge cockroach in the bathroom. That knocks a star off the rating for me. Staff was nice. No power near the bed. Old TV with no English language stations. The king bed is two twins pushed together. Nice marble counter in the bath from former glory days, but the place needs major investment.

Very tired hotel”
I've stayed at Diamond many times in the past each time has been just a little worse. I don't need much, but I do like hot water to shower. Breakfast has been steadily downgraded from a fair buffet to six plate options ala cart and over heated syrup like coffee. No juice. The swimming pool was closed because of exterior renovations, but that was just as well. The pool has (for three years) always had green algae growing on it's sides. I noticed a security issue too. The room staff routinely leave their whole set of keys abandoned on the center of their supply cart for hours. They ARE taking this Covid break to do some upgrades, but rather than pull out the old worn bath tubs and putting in showers, they might be better served by providing hot water somehow. Sigh, there are just too many things wrong here that new paint won't fix.

Needs a Renovation”
This hotel was probably one of the nicest in Chiangmai when it first opened. However, with neglect and a lack of proper maintenance, this property has deteriorated significantly. The location is outstanding - right on the river, and within easy walking distance to the Night Bazaar and Anusorn market. We chose this hotel because of the pool, however we found that the pool was effectively unusable because it was dirty, and there were absolutely no chairs or any type of furnishings in the pool area. After 4 days, the pool was finally cleaned about an hour before we checked out. We ended up booking a room in a new hotel down the street just so the kids could use the pool there while staying here. Rooms are large - very spacious, but the bathrooms are tiny with fixtures that are well past their usable life. Staff (with exception of housekeepers) were indifferent at best. No English TV channels (only Thai and Chinese). Of the 300 or so rooms, only about 20 were occupied.

The staff was very nice but my room smelled of bug spray. The whole hotel is very old and in need of refurbishment. Breakfast was extremely sparse. The pool has algae covering the sides. You can do much better for the same money nearby.

Disappointed traveler”
If you are looking for customer services, this place sucks! We checked in to our rooms on December 30 around 11:30 and the older lady staff at the front desk was so rude. She would not talk to me or even look at me. She threw the list of customers at me and told me to look for my name. Talk about customer confidentiality!! When I couldn’t find my name, she ignored me and went to Her desk without saying anything. I walked over to her and said “hello?” and she mumbled under her breath that she was busy. She finally printed a new list and threw it at me again to find my name. She never once look at me or talk to me other then ask for our passports. This lady is too unhappy at her job she needs to retire or go work Some where she doesn’t need to use customer service skills! The hotel and furniture is outdated and old. The Carpets were dirty. Room was spacious.

10floor room 007 Old fusion tv with 2 available blur snowing channel , wifi connection was horrible (either sever down or got disconnected) , Room lighting was dark , electricity power point only 1 slot was useable . Price for the stay included Morning breakfast . Would rate this place as reasonable.

Hotel undergoing a renovation”
I booked this hotel many times. Its convenient situated near Night Bazaar. I know I don't expect that much, but this time it was really worse. They are undergoing a renovation. All bathroom have been taken out from the 288 rooms. The dust was every where. They did not inform Agoda or other websites. So beware when you book this hotel. I was really upset.
