Perfect Vacation for Families with Children”

Dolphin Bay Resort is located on SamRoyYod Beach, a beautiful setting with clean sand beaches, islands, fantastic sunrises, and very few people (for those of us who do NOT like crowds). The city of Hua Hin is just a 45 minute drive away. The staff are all very friendly and helpful and well trained. The food was delicious, every dish we ordered exceeded expectations. Our room (Junior Suite) was simple but clean and comfortable. The bed was soft (which is a rarity in Thailand). And the price was a good value. Real fresh coffee, espresso, cappus, lattes, and americano was available at breakfast.... which is a must for coffee lovers like us. The grounds were well kept gardens and grass with swimming pools for adults and children, a special air conditioned play room for children, foos ball tables, badminton, a fitness center, massage... and many tour options like fishing, boating, diving, bicycling, riding scooters, and such. The children will never be bored here and neither will the adults. Plenty of good parking is available if you drive there, and transportation is easily accessible by contacting reception. After our vacation, we immediately booked another vacation at this same location and same room too.

Fantastic helpfull staff”

Had planned to stay at Dolphin Bay Resort for 6nights, but day 2 my husband fell and hurt his leg very badly. Other guests and the staff helped to get him up and got him placed in a chair, brought ice - and helped to clean the wounds. Later same day the painsgot worse and therefor we contacted SOS in Denmark and the told us to go to Bangkok Hospital in Hua Hin. The manager offered to drive us to Hua Hin, but we had our own car, so we drove ourselves. Dolphin Bay Resort contacted Agoda - so in the end we get a refound for half the time we had planned to stay - great servise from Dolphin Bay Resort. if we come back to Sam Roi Yot, we wil not hesitate to stay at the resort again.

Relaxing and Fun”

Right across the Soi from the beach, short cheap boat ride to Monkey Island, good food for reasonable prices, relaxed attitude and great for little kids. Nearby restaurants and massages on the beach are cheap and fair quality. Shallow water at the beach is good for kids to play, but not so great for real swimming. Beach had too much trash (seems to be everywhere in Thailand, not just here...I bring a grocery bag to fill every time I go, may not help, but cannot hurt and I can soothe my guilty conscience). Lots of small interesting shells on the beach. Resort is a ways from Hua Hin...800THB for a ride in the back of a pickup truck from train station...arrange through hotel for more comfort. We are in Thailand for 2 years, and will be visiting Dolphin Bay again. Not perfect, but great for the price and great for a 5 year old boy that loves to swim. I gave 5 stars for everything, though others may not consider it "superb" but rather quite good, but given the price, I think it warrants 5 across the board. I was going to give 4 stars for location due to being so far from transport...but that is a good thing as well, nice and quiet.

Beautiful hotel, excellent for families.”

we had a wonderful time at dolphin bay resort. my daughter (who is five) loved it there. i think it was her best holiday ever as there were so many other children around to play with. the resort seems to draw a really diverse but friendly crowd of families which made our visit exceptional. the food at dolphin bay was not the best, but fresh and very affordable. they have a kids menu which again, my daughter loved. the only downside of this place is that there are not really any other dining options in the town and sometimes eating three meals a day at the resort can become a bit boring.

We have been coming to Dolphin Bay resort for many years now and it never fails to be our sons favourite part of the holiday. The chalet rooms have been updated and are much more pleasing on the eye. Clearly a lot of thought has gone into solving the drab accommodation issues. The pool and play areas are in reasonable condition, with no injuries to any of the children staying there. The food is generally of good quality, the breakfast is not the greatest and we often skip it. The staff are always polite and very friendly, but sometimes there are language difficulties for non Thais and those who do not speak English as a first language. I am sure we will be back again next visit to the Hua Hin area.

A family resort with friendly and helpful staff”

my wife, my sons (age 7 and 9) and i enjoyed our holidays at dolphin bay resort. my boys had lots of fun. we did a really long cycling from the resort to khao daeng village and took a boat to reach the beach at laem sala. we climbed tham phraya nakhon cave there. it was demanding but really fun. when we returned to the hotel, we learned from the staff that we could take a boat ride from the resort to laem sala instead and it was much easier. my sons wanted to go to the resort again in the next summer holiday.

Lovely Hotel”

We had our second stay at Dolphin Bay. It is a lovely spot on a quieter strip of beach, the road is much less busy than you'll find in Hua Hin, which means it's better for cycling etc. I find it a lovely mellow beach town. I think the resort is the better spot on the beach, though new options are being built. But if you've kids from 2-10 it seems like a perfect spot. It's nothing super fancy, but it is well taken care of and the owners and staff are great. The owners are French so they bring a nice touch to the food. Well priced, delicious fare and a very good mix of european or thai cuisine, both down very well without the sticker shock you might get at large hotel chain. We've the resort twice now as a short 3-4 day getaway from Bangkok, hiring a car and driver from Bangkok ( about 2,500thb), and getting some fresher air and sunshine. So far we've found it a nice mix of young families from all over.

Great for families with young kids”

Fun, relaxing, quiet (Samroyot - not Dolphin Bay Resort) place with lovely sea views. Well run. A bit of a lack of good eating options outside Dolphin but excellent on the whole if you are looking for tranquility and kids entertainment. Kids play in the pool, on the slide, on the grass, on the playground, in the kids room, and table football while parents take it easy :-)

Lovely low key spot”

We had a great stay at Dolphin Bay. It's ideal for families with kids but we liked even though we're a couple. The staff was lovely and friendly and Pranburi is very small and chill and less of a hustle than Hua Hin is ( and Hua hin is laid back). We liked we could bike around and there wasn't much traffic. The resort is well located on the beach. Even though we spent a few days in Hua Hin and an upscale villa after this we actually liked the chill vibe with lively families of this resort more. We'll be returning soon!

Great for family or solo traveler!”

Dolphin Bay is my favorite place to stay in Thailand! It is a wonderful hotel for families: with a large pool, playground, and green patch of land for running around, and it is right next to the beach. It is also a great and safe place to stay if you are traveling alone! There aren't creepy people everywhere. The beach is lovely. There are great places to eat around the area, as well as at Dolphin Bay. They now have free wifi which is a great addition!

Great family hotel”

Stayed at the Dolphin Bay Resort with our 4 years old daughter. I definitely suggest families to stay at this hotel as swimmingpools and playgrounds are perfect for young kids. The breakfast was alright and the restaurant offers a decent menu with both international and thai food.

Great value for money. Slightly older facilities, but well maintained, equipped, and updated. This is what sets this place apart. Many places in Thailand have "once beautiful, but poorly maintained". This isn't the case at Dolphin Bay. We were upgraded from a double suite to a two bedroom at no extra charge because of the availability. That NEVER happens. 2 bedroom unit on ground level was spacious. Kitchen was well equipped with everything needed for family of 5. Included a washer and dryer (this is amazing). Lots for kids (badminton, bocce, two play grounds, pathways to ride their scooter on), not to mention the simple, but fun waterslide. Pool and beach well kept. Food. Good value. Dishes were still well portioned. Kids menu was great. Good mix of local and international offerings. Customer service was good. Help and greetings right from the beginning. Bicycle and scooters (125 cc) are available for rent on site.

Beautiful location and kids are happy”

If you are looking for a place for your kids to play and make new friends, this is the place to be. Not only is Dolphin Bay Resort kid friendly, the food is very good, the rooms very clean and comfortable, and the location is next to a beautiful 5 kilometer long beach. It is a very nice beach to walk in the evening. There are no shopping centers nearby and disco party pubs or clubs. It's quiet at night. A perfect place to unwind.

Best value for money so far”

Having lived in Bangkok for over a year we'd never made it farther south than Hua Hin over the weekend. Coming to Dolphin Bay Resort was like coming to the country side compared to the over exploited beach of Cha-Am and Hua-Hin. The surroundings was beautiful even though the beach wasn't so nice. What we liked about the rooms: AC was quiet, spacious and clean, no smell of mold, decent blinders and available with single beds. Believe it or not but we haven't managed to tick all these boxes at any of the places we've been to in Thailand. The pool was good for small kids and the food was ok. Surprisingly peaceful considering all kids. Must have been the good atmosphere that made it :-) Their website hasn't that good photos of the rooms so perhaps that kept our expectations down, compared to many other resorts and hotels which seem to spent more efforts on the website than the real world.

Relaxing family getaway”

We really enjoyed our stay at Dolphin Bay Resort. We had no complaints at all. It was comfortable, the food was great, and we loved having our own private pool. The staff are really friendly and accommodating. Its a great place for young kids (ours are 6 and 8). We enjoyed visiting Monkey Island too.

For short holidays if don't look for luxury... ”

We've been to Dolphin Bay Resort 2 times. It's a quite relaxing place especially with the young children. I've never seen un unhappy child at this hotel during our stays! They have independence and also parents feel safe even kids are running and playing around. If you could have a chance to rent a bungalow close to the see (between the numbers 1-6)you may enjoy your balcony while watching your kids playing in the pool with full of happiness. The garden is like a playground as well. If you don't look for a luxury stay, rooms are acceptable in terms of tidiness. Temporarily un unpleasant smell could comes from the water pipes but it's not that disturbing. Restaurant menu is not that rich, if you're not so critical about food you might be satisfied but not the top! Unfortunately breakfast is the biggest disappointment. There is even no cheese could be found!!! The hotel should enrich the breakfast asap. Tea and coffee are not good neither. Some patisserie, basic cheese choices and at least good coffee and tea could be enough to change the general view of the breakfast session. Also, restaurant chairs needs to be changed. They were too uncomfortable and old. For the rest, you'll be in a peaceful environment. Even the see is not so attractive for swimming, having a walk on the beach is quite relaxing. You may rent a bike or motorcycle from the hotel and discover the bay too. In the evening you may sleep like a baby or spend some time outside listening the crickets. It rains very often at this area so you might have a chance to enjoy the rain in this quite hotel (when all the kids get tired and fall asleep :) ) For a short holiday, I could recommend Dolphin Bay without any doubt.

Great for families”

Dolphin Bay was innundated with families with young kids while we were there, which was great for us. This was our fourth stay and we'll undoubtedly be back because we love it. I overheard that there were something like 120 adults and 95 kids during our stay. Folks who want a quiet time at the beach might want to look a bit further down the beach, though. Those who want a party atmosphere, also not the place for you. It is a bit off the beaten trail, which is part of it's appeal for us, but it means a 3-4 hour van ride from Bangkok, depending on traffic. Most of the food is great, especially the burgers and Masaman curry. Didn't love the pizza sauce, but the kids kept wanting more pizza and the all day pancakes. Also, don't miss the delicious coconut panna cotta.

Paradise for children”

Dolphin bay is a very friendly and laidback place. At the first glance, it’s quite unassuming but many details have been thought through. The swimming pool and its slide are perfect for the youngest. The breakfast is simple but products are high quality (with appreciated homemade jams and organic eggs). The rooms are spotless and the staff is super friendly. The beach is beautiful but we didn’t really dare have a swim because of jellyfishes. But we didn’t really mind since the swimming pool was great.

Out of the way retreat”

Followed Trip Advisor ratings and pulled up this gem near Hua Hin. Dolphin Bay Resort is not in Hua Hin, but it is about 30 minutes away. A nice hotel/motel with bungaloos, nice pools, bikes for rent, easy boat trip to the caves in the national park, good restaurant. No complaints. Perfect for families with small children not looking for shopping or nightlife.

It's always good at 'The Bay'!”

We've been coming to Dolphin Bay for many years. It just really works for young children from the design of everything around the shallow pool, to the great staff, the view onto the beach, the very shallow sea, the numerous crabs, snails, small fish and shells to collect and of course a trip to Monkey island. Plus, with the owners from Cafe Tartine behind the operation there's rose wine and nicoise salad on offer as well and a new cycle path up and down the bay. Highly recommended for families.
