Excellent”

I was a guest for almost two months and I can tell you that I've loved every moment of my stay. The staff members are friendly, accommodating and look forward to ensuring you have a pleasant stay. The facility is clean and cozy and ran by a lovely family. All beds are prepared with new linens and blankets for new guests, unlike some hotels and hostel who fail to change the blankets after each guest. The free breakfast is good, I enjoyed the daily rotation between two different noodles and fried rice. Along with the main course, they also serve fried eggs, bread, fresh fruit and juice. I can't forget to mention their thoughtful decision to have both, Nutella and peanut butter made available for you to enjoy with your morning toast. 😁 If by any chance you are unable to enjoy the morning breakfast, due to an early morning departure, you can make arrangements with the staff the night before and they will gladly prepare a Nutella or peanut butter sandwich for you to takeaway. The facility is in walking distance to the train station, popular Zegyo (Zay Cho) market and the famous Mandalay restaurant, Shan Ma Ma. It is also located across the street from the cinema (Mega Ace) which occasionally shows both local and international films. Overall, if you are looking for a hostel in a great location, with clean and comfortable beds, air conditioned dorms and private rooms, friendly staff and good breakfast I would highly recommend Downtown @ Mandalay for your stay in Mandalay. #SafeTravels

The buffet breakfast was worth as they served different main menu every day. They also served nutella, peanut butter, honey and jem for toast bread. Many fruits served for breakfast. Overall cleanliness is good and worth for money. All staff very helpful and nice to guest. They allowed me to stay at the lobby after my check out, from night time until next morning to wait my train time to hsipaw on the next morning at 4am. Unfortunately i missed the train because i overslept at the lobby and didn't ask the front desk staff to wake me up before the train schedule. That was my mistake. They also provide a few option of activities to do in mandalay with share cost basis for taxi or by motobike. Overall i love stayed in Downtown @ mandalay and hope to come back again.

Wonderful stay in Mandalay”

Comfy bed, love the big locker and privacy curtains. Plenty of bathrooms to go around, always very clean and strong hot water. WIFI works well. Excellent breakfast with Western & Myanmar options, 24h free coffee/tea, and you are greeted with fruit & juice when you return in the afternoon/evening from exploring. Bicycle rental is very reasonable. Close to many restaurants, movie theatre, and market. Feels very welcoming and the staff is lovely. Postcards and stamps available for purchase too. I extended my stay and would definitely stay at Downtown@Mandalay again.

Start biking!”

Please do rent a scooter and/or bikes while staying in Mandalay. Discovering the surrounding cities by scooter is so much more fun and easier than by tour! And it’s not that difficult nor dangerous. And to discover Mandalay itself, please rent bicycles. It’s easy and fun and you get to see so much more intimate details of the city. The hostel rents out decent bikes and serves good breakfast. It was the first on our trip to serve peanut butter and Nutella! The staff was helpful and kind. Although they didn’t have a water refill station in the shared area, they were kind enough to refill our bottles in their kitchen, so that we didn’t have to buy more plastic then necessary.

Lovely stay and staff with good brekkie”

Staff here is just so lovely and speak good English! Breakfast was great with toast, juice, nutella, fruits, tea etc. They even offer juice and fresh fruits as a snack! Got everything organised through the hostel. Beds are comfy!! Thank you Downtown @ Mandalay! :)

The staff was nice and its clean”

It is well located in Mandalay. Their breakfast was pretty good with noodles or rice and bread and so many different kinds of spreads. They will refill water bottles for free which is nice for me and the environment. The dorm room is set up nicely with plenty of room to put your stuff. The staff was really kind to even order us a pizza and had great customer service. I would definitely recommend.

Great breakfast, good location”

Helpful staff. Really good breakfast for the price you pay. They also offered fruits & juice in the evening. It was nice to be able to rent a bicycle from them & cycle around Mandalay. Would be perfect if only they installed shelves in their bunk beds to put stuff. Overall very good value for $.

Very Good Hostel”

The staffs here are very friendly and always serving with smiles. The room and facilities are clean, location is good too. The breakfast is tasty and adequate, the fruits and juice they served when coming back at night are a plus. Highly recommend this hostel and will absolutely stay here again if going to Mandalay again!

Amazing Stay!”

This hostel is just a gem in the middle of Mandalay. The staff are super friendly and they are always trying to help you and make you feel at home. It is possible to book trips and transportation to the airport/bus station and combine with other travellers from the hostel. They also offer a plate with fruit and a juice from 19h until 21h. And they have peanut butter for breakfast... Enough said!

Wonderful, caring staff, and clean facilities”

Staff are so polite and attentive, I felt very welcome and well looked after. The beds were comfy and also came with a private light, electronics charger and lockers. I did not stay in Mandalay long enough to know if it was in a great location or not.

Very very very friendly staffs. Nice room and great shared toilets. Everything was cool to me. Will be back here when visit Mandalay next time.

Very clean and nice hostel with great services and hospitality”

Room cleaned almost everyday, plenty of bathroom and toilets in every floor. Good breakfast and big bonus with fruit and juice in the late afternoon/evening. The team behind the counter are very helpful and we even got to check into our bed at 4-5am in the morning which was awesome as sleep was very limited on the overnight VIP bus. Highly recommended and very cheap for the price on Agoda.com

Staff was super nice and helpful! Centrally located, close to night market! Breakfast was good! The afternoon fruits and juice were really nice! Bathrooms were very clean! Would highly recommend!!!

Decent budget place for Mandalay”

Pros: AC in bedrooms, decent breakfast, let's you stick around when waiting for transport, serves fruit in evening, lockers, privacy curtains in dormitory, helpful staff. Cons: no AC in waiting room/dining, climb several floors to get to room.

Wonderful Hostel ”

I only booked this hostel as the group I met some had booked to stay so we all came here together! I was so pleased as the hostel is lovely, only recently opened and very clean The staff are very helpful and you get a welcome drink and when you come back at night they give you fresh fruit There is tea and coffee 24/7 and the breakfast is also really nice (they have Nutella) The rooms are very clean with crisp clean white linen and a towel - they even make your bed everyday :-) The showers I think are the best in Myanmar , hot powerful and clean They also have a board in reception where you can write your name and flight time so that if others are going you can share a taxi which helps save you money They help to print boarding passes and also can book tickets for you There is a cinema 1 minute walk away with films in English which is great I would highly recommend staying here

Reception was very helpful, both dorm rooms and bathrooms were very clean (showers were hot and had good pressure 👌🏽), buffet breakfast had a good selection, (it included peanut butter and Nuttela). The only possible negative was the wifi dropped in and out, but I would definitely stay there again...
