"We've spent there four nights. Location of the hotel was really nice, on the riverside, where you could take a river taxi to main attractions of Bangkok. Also there were lot of shops (a big one in the hotel building), restaurants and POIs. The rooms are huge, super clean with all necessary equipment (even with washing machine) and with spacious bathroom. We had a stunning view from our balcony on the river and skytowers of Bangkok. Breakfast was very nice with variety of food, restayran was also good. Pool area was nice, with nice urban view. All this for a really good price. What was annoying: it was really noisy (but we ubderstand that it is difficult to find peaceful place in Bangkok...), when you open he window noise is massive (we lived on 18th floor...). Also air con is quite noisy and may disturb your sleep, also it was hard to control (it seemed that it was always freezing, no matter what mode you have chosen). Also there were some noisy renovations in the hotel during our stay, but we could cope wit that. It was really good stay and this hotel is really worth consideration if you intend to stay in Bangkok for a few nights. "

"A Truly wonderful hotel right on the river in Bangkok. I wanted to stay in this hotel for a while and having a one night stop over made the reason to try it out. From you walk in to the lobby you feel a certain lightness (The same as New York & Hong Kong) the 31st floor had a balcony view of the river and all the Peninsula personal touches. Breakfast large buffet style on the sunny riverside excellent, there are also 4 boats to ferry you across to the BTS Sapan Taksin Station (Skytrain) which runs right through Bangkok to Siam Paragon. Did not have time to swim in the pool but viewed it and it is long with many chairs aligning the sides. Premium price but you can see why it is classed as the best Hotel in Bangkok if not the World!"

"Each year I hunt for a quality location on the Chao Phraya River which runs through the heart of Bangkok. Riverside locations are prime spots for the most expensive hotels costing many hundreds of dollars a night, but true little gems such as the New Siam Riverside exist. Now I have shared a wonderful little known secret hideaway which is well within the price range of middle class travelers to enjoy. For a few bucks extra the top floor rooms have private balconies with table and chairs to view the passing river activity."

"Truth be told it was a great place to stay. Breakfast was not included through Agoda. I suggest that Agoda allow breakfast to be included in this hotel stay. That was a huge shock after staying at Ibis Bangkok Riverside for week. The hotel staff understood our concerns and only charged us breakfast for the weekend days. Great service. I have four small children ages 6 and triplet 4 year old they enjoyed the pool, but the pool was very called in the month of December. The time to go swimming would be early morning till about 1:00pm the pool doesn't get much sun. The location of Ibis Bangkok Riverside is a safe location. I traveled with friends with older children; ages 16, 14, and 12, they walked around the area on their own. There is a new shopping center close by with a Starbucks for those Starbucks lovers. There are also local coffee shops for those who do not like big chains so much. There is also a International Grocery store in the shopping center called Villa Market for those foreigners who live in places where getting western items are hard to find. The shopping center is called Sena Fest. My favorite part about the location of the hotel is the walking distance to the BTS train station that gets you to Siam World Center; MBK and other major tourist attractions. The ferry is close to take to the Grand Palace and Travlers road for backpackeres Kaosang road. I actually only planned on staying at the Ibis for 4 nights, but extended my stay for 10 nights. We loved exploring Bangkok! Thank you Ibis Riverside!"

"access to 5 star hotels on riverside. also a short walk to the sleaze of silom, if that is your thing. typical thai cheaper hotel rooms - clean and basic. bbc & nhk on the tv and sometimes cnn. breakfast is simple but filling - brewed coffee, toast, jams, fresh fruit & eggs. also pretty awful juice. the hotel is in a small alley with 3 or 4 cheap indian/pakistani restaurants around it. this is the gem district so there are many from the sub continent staying nearby. the slow progress on the building opposite can make front rooms noisy - ask for a back room. the freeway is closer out back but less noisy than the construction."

"Most people think that they cannot affords a riverside hotel in Bangkok but it is not true. The Menam Riverside Remada has a fabulous riverside location and the price is amazing. The buffet breakfast is lovely, right out on the river. The restaurant in the evening is great and the views from the room are spectacular. Its location is perfect now, just minuts by the hotel shuttle boat from the skytrain station. The best of Bangkok is along the river and it is great to be there for a decent price."

"Personally I prefer the Royal River to the Hilton. I stayed for 10 days in Royal Suite for a fraction of what it would have cost me in the Hilton after reading some of the reviews I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed staying at the Royal River. Ok yes, it could do with a refurbish and would benefit from free internet, but The Royal River has a unpretentious charm that I loved and how long do you need to sit on the internet for? I was traveling on my own and found the staff very helpful and friendly and I was not bothered or harassed outside of the hotel as I was when staying at the Hilton. Like all Hotels avoid the costly trips on offer in the lobby, walk five minuets to the shuttle boat stop called N 16 ( North 16 ) and for 15 baht get dropped off at most of the main attractions . A great evening stop off for riverside combination of modern shopping mail, night bazaar and food is Asiatique. I enjoyed the food and there are plenty of little shops around I will be coming back to the Royal River Bangkok."

"I stayed at the Lebua for two nights in June 2010. Having stayed in other 5* hotels in Bangkok previously I can happily report that the Lebua is amongst the very best hotels in the City. Great facilities in the rooms, including free movies and Bvlgari bathroom products, to excellent hotel amenities, ranging from a stunning roof-top bar & restaurant through to high quality pool and gym facilities. A good Riverside location means that this is also well placed for some sight-seeing of Bangkoks attraction, from the temples and Grand Palace to some of the night markets."

More about Bangkok Riverside

In some ways, Bangkok’s Riverside district is the heart of the city. Not only is it home to some of the best historic sites in Bangkok, but it also boasts a few luxury hotels that consistently feature in Asian Top 10 lists. Tourists who arrange accommodation along the Riverside are guaranteed the best views in Bangkok, plus access to iconic sites like the Grand Palace and Wat Arun.

Many of the best temples in Bangkok are here in the Riverside area. Major contenders include the Temple of the Dawn (Wat Arun), Wat Thepakorn and Wat Dao Khanong. Tourists can visit these in the morning and evening, then head to air-conditioned shopping centers or take a river cruise during the heat of the day.

The Chao Phraya River is as relevant today as it ever was. Bangkok’s irresistible modern edge may have introduced high-rise hotels to the riverside landscape, but it’s possible to charter a long-tail boat and explore Bangkok's back canals (khlongs) for a glimpse of Thailand you wouldn't expect to see in the capital. A long-tail boat ride through the khlongs of Thonburi is an unforgettable experience: water dragons, stilt houses and children jumping from piers all part of the package.
