Great location, good value. ”
I have stayed at El Cortez several times. The location on Fremont is ideal. Short walk to many places or to public transportation. The hotel is old but gives me the feel of old Las Vegas. Staff is helpful. Room maintenance is not always perfect but good enough.

The El Cortez has some of the lowest Resort fees I found in Las Vegas. The circus circus is a rip off with their Resort fees

great value, thin walls”
Great location and value. Can use a face lift (I know the casino has been remodeled, but the rooms need one too), the rooms are pretty old but spacious and have all the amenities. The walls are pretty thin and you can definitely hear all the noise going on outside, even at the 9th floor. But it's Vegas, right? So just make sure you bring ear plugs or request to be facing the mountains and not the strip/freemont.

I did not stay in el cortez tower but i was upgraded to Jr suite whioch is 5 storey building next to el cortez hotel and casino. Chceking was smooth room was nice the color was light green which is not everyone taste but for one night i could not care less. All necessary things in were provided. Room was clean, nice. Really good value for the money. Free tea and coffee provided with keurig machine. And one mportant thing. After the resort fee hikes in Vegas Cortez is one of the best option.(about14$ resort fee). Fremont street is around the corner.

We were told that we were upgrated to Cabana. Yay. Then, we realized parking is not connected to the room. The bathroom light was very noisy. The room was set for 49 degrees so we turned up the heater to bring up to 70 which caused smell of heater when not used for awhile so we had to shut off. TV clicker was not working. We figured we paid very little so this is what to get. We tried to stay out of hotel as much as we could. Imagine what was like if we weren't upgraded...

great hotel, minus the "resort" fee”
El Cortez is a classic old vegas hotel. It's definitely not fancy, but beats staying at the strip in terms of price and, depending on your preference, atmosphere. Only complaint was the $66 "resort fee" that got unexpectedly tacked onto the cost. ($50 is refunded at checkout, so it works out to an extra $16). Apparently that fee covers parking and in-room water and coffee (things that pretty much every hotel normally includes for free. Aside from this surprise fee, it was a great stay.

I go to Vegas. a few times a year and this trip was one of my favorites. El Cortez is located in old Vegas, we didn't really use our car, we had so many options to it all at walking distance. Everything about El Cortez is perfect. The pizza place inside the casino is the best .

A true fleabag”
A/C didn’t work, fridge was warm at best, a 100lb person can barely fit on the toilet due to the placement, the water is so hard you immediately develop dandruff, the “outlets” were just extension cords strewn about the floor, the staff is essentially non-existent. I will never stay here again, but I’ll come back for the crappy $5 margaritas if I pass by.

you get what you pay for”
I find the el cortez's casino charming, check in abismal, and understaffed, rooms with nice updates, but poorly cleaned, and my wife freaked out about a cockroach she saw on the toilet. I didn't care. beds were good the party life was great at the gentrified old downtown scene. If your a young kid that spends his passed out time in the hotel and the rest getting your rocks off in vegas, this is the place. if your a 40 something like me with a little more cash, maybe spring for the extra 40 a night somewhere else. Food wasn't great either...

Inexpensive first Vegas trip”
Carpet in rooms should be cleaner. Breakfast at Siegel’s was fantastic. We did encounter people on the elevator who were not hotel guests asking if they could stay in our room! One of the two were obviously on drugs. Security should be tighter

Great for the price”
Great location, awesome little suite. Me and my fiancé were celebrating our engagement with a little staycation. We live in Vegas and we know where to stay and where everything is and this little suite was awesome. 1-2 min walk to The Fremont St. experience. Highly recommend it. Although, the lady that checked us in was very rude and not helpful at all. I asked her a question about something she told me and she replied rudely by saying “I just told you about that” if I had known about it I wouldn’t have asked. She was my only issue. Other than that! Awesome stay :)

Best value in a hotel in Fremont area”
Room size, friendly staff, free airport shuttle
I've stayed at the El Cortez numerous times and will continue to do so as it represents consistent value in a Vegas property. I would recommend the Tower rooms....large and well appointed. The Cabana suites are modern but small....the Vintage and Pavillion rooms are too dated to be nice. No pool but the staff are excellent, the hotel is spotlessly clean, good WiFi signal and the casino has a friendly atmosphere with cocktail waitresses never far away. The hotel has one of the most reasonable " resort fees " in Vegas. I would highly recommend this hotel for those on a budget but looking for value.

Clean and spacious room, great location, great casino
My wife and I had a fantastic stay at the hotel. Everything is good, the food & casino. Will definitely recommend the hotel. Although it's some distance from the strip, you can still get all the fun and food from nearby fremont street.

The Casino smelled like stale cigars, on morning of check out i was getting dressed and housekeeping knocked out the door and before i had time to say anything she came inside. We still had 3 hours til we had to check out. The room was dirty and didnt smell good at all. Staff was nice and so was location but will never stay there again.
