great location and accommodating staff”

It's our first visit to Singapore and we're glad we decided to stay in the YWCA Fort Canning Lodge Hotel. The location is very convenient. It takes less than 5 minutes to get to the Dhoby Ghaut train station, we walked from YWCA to Dhoby Ghaut station via Park Mall. Almost all the places we wanted to visit were within reach from the interchange. We initially only booked our 1st, 3rd and 4th night at the YWCA. However, our accommodation for the 2nd night did not pull through. The staff were kind enough to ensure that we can stay at the same room for the duration of our stay, which means that we don't have to worry about moving our things. The room is spacious and was cleaned daily. We had a beautiful view of the park. We made our online reservation to Universal Studios using their computer in the lobby. Internet use is 5 Sing$ for 30mins, a bit pricey. But at least they did not charge us when we asked for the online tickets to be printed. On our last day, check-out is at 12noon, but our flight out is not until 10pm. I inquired if we can leave our things, while we spend our day out. They said we can. They have a storage room for this. We were able to enjoy our last day and did not have to worry or pay extra to keep our valuables safe. We would definitely stay here again on our next visit to Singapore.

YWCA Fort Canning Lodge is a great hotel with value-for-money price. We reserved two rooms and the front desk staff was kind enough to arrange for adjacent rooms when I missed to request it. Their location is also a good point because it is just within walking distance from Dhoby Ghaut MTR. Not only that, Orchard Road is just one street away. I like the fact that it's not in the main road because it's quiet so you can relax without hearing the noise outside. It's right in front of the Fort Canning Park and nearby is a Catholic Church. The price we paid is worth it because the staff were friendly, they have a good buffet as well with the rates. My family and I recommend this hotel for travelers esp. with kids because they have pool.

Fort Canning Lodge:Great Location, Excellent Value”

I would gladly stay at the Fort Canning Lodge for every Singapore visit! If your idea of a hotel is where you can live like royalty and have your every whim catered to, the FCL is not for you. But if you're a seasoned traveller who requires a clean, well-managed hotel for not too many dollars then the FCL is perfect. This is the hotel for those who have to pay for their stay themselves and want to be practical, yet want a very good level of service and amenities. My room (junior suite on the 12th floor) was decent-sized, had a great bathroom, came with a room safe with electronic keypad, and had a decent refrigerator and TV. Tap water is safe to drink. Security is good with magnetic keycard access to rooms and elevators. There's a fair-sized swimming pool on the 3rd floor that's open until 9pm, great for relaxing those tired muscles after a hot day out walking. The restaurant offers a hearty buffet breakfast, and there are internet booths at the lobby. Staff is helpful and well-trained and requests for extra pillows and towels and such are met in minutes. The building itself is not very new nor cutting edge in architecture, but I didn't need that anyway, but maintenance and upgrading is good. I loved the view out my window, Fort Canning hill with the towers of the central business district out beyond. Location is fantastic. It's at the very start of Orchard Road, with Little India to the north, Kampong Glam to the east, Marina to the south east, and the River and Chinatown to the south. It's of course situated in the beautiful colonial district, with the terrific National Museum and Museum of Art just a few minutes walk away. The all-important Dhoby Ghaut station is a quick walk through the Park Mall beside the hotel, and when the new Circle Line is completed, this will be the most strategic of Singapore's stations, with all four lines passing through it. You can be in just about any place in Singapore in a few minutes, from the hotel's central location.

Introduce convenience hotel in Singapore”

It was my first time to visit Singapore. I had very short time to prepare myself including hotel reservation. I have been very fortunate to get information to choose the hotel and make reservation via agoda.com. I was lucky to reserve the YWCA Fort Canning Lodge with a nice discount. The hotel is located in the very convenient area, near the subway station (MRT), near big shopping malls such as Park Mall, Sigapuru Plaza, ect. We can take the subway to Orchard, the place having a lot of shopping department stores. My Singaporean friends told me that they now know a very convenient hotel to introduce to their friends who will visit Singapore.

We were quite surprise when we enter the room. It was big enough for the price we paid. Amenities were complete, including hair dryer and coffee maker. Staffs were very polite and helpful. The lodge is very near to the MRT, just cross the plaza at front. Getting taxi was not easy, but you could ask the front office for help. On the lobby there were two souvenir shops, and we bought a lot of unique goods there, and they're cheap. It took 10-15 minutes walking to the Orchard road, so convenience. Definitely will come back to the YWCA Fort Canning Lodge Hotel Singapore.

the ywca is situated in a quiet area next to historical fort canning, where the british surrender to the japenese forces on 15 feb. 1942 was decided upon. in this price category i cannot think of a better location as the underground station is right opposite the hotel and it is only one stop to orchard road. you could even walk, once you´ve got used to the heat and humidity of singapore. the rooms are big and comfortable and ours even provided an unrestricted view of the new marina bay sands hotel. breakfast ends at 10, but you would be very unwise to miss it as it is truly superb, catering both for european and asian palates. the friendly staff help with everything and although check out time is 12 o´clock you can leave your luggage there and take a shower before going to the airport at midnight!

Wonderful and considerate staff”

Upon arrival from Changi Airport after a sleepless night, the smiling reception lady immediately checked us in a room though it was stipulated that check in time is at 2pm. On the evening of Dec. 21 our 2nd night in the hotel, we arrived in our room at the 5th floor filled with the smell of new paint. The stent from the paint would aggravate my cough and may lead to an acute asthmatic attack. I called up the reception, to my surprise, we were offered to be transfered without my asking and we packed up and was given a lovely newly renovated room on the 7th floor. There was a fruit basket which seems to indicate a note of apology. That is called excellent service by the hotel staff and manager. THe rooms were kept clean and the breakfast choices were on the average fair for the price we were being charged. The location is great as it was walking distance to Park mall and to PlazaSingapura and Orchard Road. We were able to watch Mission Impossible at Plaza Singapura...most attractive is the YWCA is across Fort Canning with lots of greenery..and fresh air.

the hotel is near with mall and MRT interchange station. Just walk for 3 minutes to go to park mall and walk only 8 minutes to dhobygaut interchange MRT station and bus station. just walk for 10 minutes to singapore plaza and 15 minutes to orchard road. the hotel also near to the fort canning park, so we can see the park from the window. The house keeeping is very satisfied too. For the breakfast is tasty. And have lots of choice for my breakfast. next time if i come to singapore, i will stay in YWCA hotel again. Memorable Stay at YWCA Fort Canning Lodge Hotel”

Staying at YWCA Fort Canning Lodge Hotel is such a wonderful experience. Place is accessible to Malls and MRT station. Besides of its accessibility, it has also a good view to Fort Canning Park which is located in front of the hotel. You can have a walk early in the morning or late evening with a very good breeze to smell. Price of the hotel is reasonable and affordable. Rooms are spacious and have good facilities. Staffs were friendly and very accommodating. They served a very good breakfast too. My only qualm was that the restaurant closed at 9:00 in the evening, a little early. Generally, I could say that I am fully satisfied with my stay, worth the pay and for sure I will be back.

As an academic doing work in SE Asia, I pass through Singapore regularly, typically in transit, so that I am there only 1-3 days at a time. So over the years I have been through a lot of Singapore budget hotels (what people would call 3 star businessmen's hotels). The Fort Canning Lodge (or Fort Canning YWCA hotel, as it would be known locally) is a clean businessman's 3 star style hotel which is a value proposition by Singapore standards. It has a decent breakfast (unusual for an Asian budget hotel) and good beds, but otherwise lacks the amenities tourists might seek in a 4-5 star hotel. It does, however, have a pool. It is one of the 2-3 places I regularly stay in Singapore.

My husband and I stayed at the YWCA for approx 6 days. We found the staff friendly, our room spacious, clean and with all the ammenties we needed, ie bar fridge, tea and coffee making facilities and hair dryer. Breakfast was included and we found the breakfast menue catered for all our needs; there was enough variety of both Western and Asian. The location of the Lodge was very central giving us easy access walking distance to Orchard road and easy walking distance to Clarke Quay - we will be returning to Singapore and will be returning to the Fort Canning Lodge.

at overall stayed at YWCA Fort Canning Lodge is well-pleasing. the place is accessible to malls and the legend fort canning park. it also could be accessed within a few minutes from Dhoby Ghaut (interchange) MRT station. the price of the hotel is reachable. the room are clean, and the staff were friendly and accommodating when we asked about the route and the transportation used to go to the tourism object at singapore. generally, I could say that I am fully satisfied with my stay, and for sure I will be back

Cozy stay in a busy city”

Fort Canning Lodge is Singapore YWCA. Before I stay here, I have also stayed at YMCA, which is only 3 minutes walk down the street. YMCA was also nice with friendly staff, but I liked it here better. First, the room was bigger and quieter. Second, there is a nice park in front of the hotel (Fort Canning, a historical site in Singapore), but on the back there was a throughway to the subway station which brings convenience to you. Amenities were bit different but similar. I had to go to the airport early next morning, and hotel staff at YWCA gave me a morning call and made a pre-reservation for taxi (which I believe not available at YMCA). Freely open swimming pool, that faces to the park green, was also refreshing.

Excellent Stay at YWCA Fort Canning”

Our stay at YWCA, Fort Canning, Singapore was really pleasant. It is within walking distance from Orchard Road or Singapore Flyer. The food was good and most of all there was a homely atmosphere in the hotel.Though the rooms were a bit small but I guess within this cost this was the best option considering that it is really close to Orchard Road, the main shopping area of Singapore. Overall a really nice and pleasant stay and would definitely recommend to other travellers.

Very good package for Singapore”

Fort Canning Lodge represents exceptional value in the very expensive Singapore hotel market. Run as it is by the YWCA it offers a relatively basic but value for money package. The rooms are largish, the fittings and bathrooms more than adequate and the breakfast relatively extensive given the pricing. There is an excellent pool. The hotel is just steps away from Orchard Rd which makes it highly convenient for shopping. Likewise there is MRT station just withing walking distance. The airport can therefore be reached by train for all of $2.10!

Fort Canning Comment”

Our stay in Fort Canning give us some ideas that it is good to be a member of an organization if there are business to do in Singapore to lessen the hotel expense. The rate of the hotel is fair and its amenities like the swimming pool gave us joy because of our children who liked to swim. The location is also good since it is located at the center of the country. In case of return to Singapore we may stay again to YWCA Fort Canning Lodge.

This hotel is recommended for you if you find a budget hotel. The staff is helpful. The location is very nice, easy to access from popular area as Orchard road, just walk thru the shopping mall named 'Park Mall', the hotel is there! The room is not big but not too small. The breakfast is nice as the stadard of American one. The facilities is okay, including swimming pool in the building. In general is good, valuable for a wonderful days in Singapore with YWCA Fort Canning Lodge Hotel!

YWCA is in a fantastic location, opposite Fort Canning Park and a shopping mall, near to Orchard road shops, walking distance to all the attractions of Singapore city centre. Staff were friendly & helpful. Buffet breakfast included in room rate with hot English/Chinese food, fruit etc etc. Swimming pool was big & clean with fluffy towels & showers available. Very good value compared to most Singapore hotel rates.

fort canning lodge offers great value for your money. their rooms are simple but clean. it's also strategically located to be a short walk away from important locations like several malls, orchard road, dhoby ghaut interchange (a subway train terminal that can get you anywhere in singapore), taxi stands and bus terminals, fort canning park, and even the national museum of singapore. they also offer a buffet breakfast with a wide assortment of food choices. i've noticed that they only use quality ingredients. for example, their fresh fruits are always sweet and fresh. it's not an extravagant hotel, but it's more than enough if your purpose in singapore is to spend time outside (sightseeing, shopping, etc.) than just locking yourself in your room.
