Great experience at great hotel with good service, facilities and location”
While we stayed at this hotel, most of the other guests were Japanese nationals, which we took to be a very good sign concerning the quality. The staff is able to speak English and was very helpful and friendly whenever we had a request or question. We had a simple yet cozy and clean Japanese style room and we could see the summit of Mt. Fuji if we looked sideways through our window. Both the breakfast and dinner at the hotel were traditional style and delicious. The hotel's hot springs were clean and comfortable and a great way to relax after a long day of sightseeing. The hotel is located at the lakeside and there is a great view point to see Mt. Fuji with a part of the lake right across the road in front of the hotel. It takes about 15 minutes to walk to the Kawaguchiko trainstation which is also the main starting point for all the sightseeing busses in the area. There is also a nice souvenir shop less then 5 mins down the road, just turn left in front of the hotel.

lucky during off peak season”
I was lucky that it was off peak season and I got the dorm room all to myself. i don't know what the other reviewers were talking about. the place is clean. it's a bit old but it's all clean. the futon bed is also comfy! great view of mt fuji from the dorm room. the onsen was 100% the highlight of the place and the one that makes it great value. also got the onsen all to myself. really really nice. like what the other reviewers mentioned, i wish there was a private bathroom for the dorm rooms. if the place is full, it might not be a pleasant experience not having a bathroom upstairs. but if it's off peak, it's absolutely fine using the onsen as bathroom. there is a massage chair outside the onsen which was also great to use after. staff are friendly and helpful. only con: really strict with the check in time and you couldnt use the shower in the onsen (w/o charge) before check in time . i came from a night bus so that was a bit inconvenient

Old Classic hotel in a lovely town, near kawaguchiko lake just few steps, cute restaurant and Mount Fuji view is fantastic! Staffs are very polite and helpful Room is Japanese style and big enough with tatami but a bit old. However hotel has very nice onsens with one in door and 2 out door. I had very wonderful time relaxing here, will definitely stay here again!

Cheapest place to see mt. FUJI ... with HOT SPRING !!!! ”
The room was ok , mixed dormitory , if you are on low budget this is one of the best places around ...... there is free HOT SPRING !!!!! on the first floor yay .....I need to say big THANK YOU to the hotel management , there was some last minute change of plans and they refund me even when it was not their fault !! , .Small note on the room ...... the mini fridge in the room stinks, :( , the only negative part of the whole experience , keep in mind accommodation time is very strict , i had to stay in the rain waiting for the appropriate time ,there is minimart near, 24/7 i think .... to save money on food ...few(1) bars. around close ,but locals go there , .... go out in night with company , otherwise boring ...... pls don't eat in the room tho .and maybe ..... You can get some very memorable experience in the mixed dormitory ;) ....... hehe

Good hotel...”
little outdated... but, the rooms look very much like "old" japanese home. yes, there are some wall paper peeling and wood trims show their age... but, still very clean and comfortable linens and others... Onsen was also very good. only hotel with onsen facility for this price. japanese traditional breakfast was also awesome!!! will not hesitate to stay here again.

QUIET, GREAT VIEWS, NICE ONSEN, GOOD PRICE.”
They have rooms in two directions. One side faces a parking lot (still a good view) the other side faces mt. Fuji. We stayed in a room facing the parking lot as we didn't want to move during our stay which we extended twice. They offered us 3 times to move! Very kind of them. In general it is a nice place to stay with a window front in your room and a great onsen on the ground floor which most people use during night times. The bus stop is a 1 min walk on the lake side. From there you can take a direct bus to Aiokigahara Forest. Make sure to buy one of these combo tickets at the train station when you arrive in Kawaguchiko as the bus gets expensive for longer distances and it soon starts to sum up. The hotel picked us up at the station for free but you need to contact the tourist information at Kawaguchiko station to call them. The ropeway for a nice Fuji view is a 20 mins walk on the lakeside. The interiors of the hotel are old fashioned and the room was a bit cramped with tables.

Good Hotel Ruined by Rude Guests”
Convenient location to the lake, cheap stay, friendly staff, yada yada. And of course the only thing I hated was something that's somewhat out of their control. During my stay, I visited their onsen the same time as a bunch of mandarin-speaking travellers. They were beyond disrespectful, and this is not even nitpicking on them wearing swimwear or standing while showering and splashing soapy water to their neighbours (which they do). They were walking around with their cellphones and they'd leave their indoor slippers basically anywhere you can think of, except for the shoe cabinet at the entrance of the baths. The best part? They would wear yours out afterwards so when I was leaving the baths I had no idea where to even find a pair of slippers. Luckily a local man saw me in distress and helped me fetch another pair from outside to save me from walking around the hotel barefoot. Make sure to check who you are bathing with before you enter... Good value comes at a steep price.

Great Onsen and affordable lodging ”
Located just 150m passed and other hotel with a similar name, I got confused about that. It’s old like build in 70’s. Looks like a Swiss ski chalet resort from inside/out but the onsens 3 nice sizes baths are very typical Japanese Onsen. I would stay again but if you like prestigious walls and modern interior, this isn’t the place for you to stay.

very affordable and well facilitated place”
hotel is pretty old and not well maintained. overall still decent for the price paid. paid ~39,000 yen for 4 adults, 2 children 1 room 3d2n stay with breakfast. spacious room with en-suite toilet and bath room. all toiletries and towels provided in room. stayed @ level 3, water pressure was good. have both hot and cold water from tap and shower. no heated toilet seat. small indoor and outdoor onsen on level 1, separate for male and female users. breakfast is japanese style breakfast, set up by hotel staff by room number. water and food served at restaurant are from melted water from mt fuji.

Excellent”
The hotel is not well maintained. Very old and dark corridor. I stayed in a female only Dorm and there is a musty smell in the room. Toilets are shared between Males and Females on the 5th floor. I feel that there is no privacy. However, what makes up for it is that the location of the hotel is just next to the Red Line bus stop. The view out of the window was also good. The traditional Japanese breakfast served was also delicious. The onsen facilities (separated by gender) was not too bad as well. Staff are generally polite and friendly and can communicate in English too. Thumbs up! Thank you.

The onsen and location next to Lake Kawaguchi is what makes this place. Other than that do not expect conventional showers. You are expected to shower at onsen naked amongst other females if you’re female or males if you’re a male. Coed bathrooms with cold sink water on the hostel floor but warm toilet seats. The hostel seems like an after thought places in what looks like an attic feels creepy at first but then you get used to it. Fridge and tea pot but no kitchen as this is really a hotel. Nice view of magical Mount Fuji from all woman room great to see every morning.
