Great Choice for Independent Explorer”
I am a solo budget explorer and was very happy here. It is clean and the staff is very friendly and helpful. It's close enough to walk to the airport but quite far (8-10 km) from all the downtown action. I put the money I saved on the room toward a scooter rental which allowed me to explore north and south along the coast on my own schedule (because one day in town was enough for me). The first night was quite noisy from a long-term residential family upstairs but when I explained to the staff they moved my room and it was fine after that. There is a delicious chicken/rice place just across the parking lot but all other food and shopping is a bit of walk or bike ride (they have one for rent, though it is pretty small - I'm 194 cm) away. There is a bus which takes you downtown and back for 2 Ringgit ($0.50) but I never used that. Uber is about 10-15 Ringgit to/from downtown depending on time of day and 3.5 Ringgit to the airport.

Not too bad, can even walk to the airport if you want”
Second time staying. No air-conditioning in the individual rooms, so i was tempted to keep the door open to let the cool air from the hall in. But then, security. Generally speaking, it's a comfortable place to stay and if you need to stay near the airport because you arrive late at night or going to leave early in the morning at a lower budget, this would be a good choice. The second best option would be to spend a night on cold metal benches at zero cost with people walking on heels and talking loudly, depriving you of your sleep. Hate to mention their nationality but yea, people from ***na. Ganang Village or airport benches? It's your call.

Price is reasonable but conitions are so terrible”
I have a quite sensitive nose, so I noticed the room smells so bad as soon as I got into it. I couldn't use the blanket there, as it seemed so dirty. The location is so good as it's very close from the airport. The owner was kind. Yet I don't believe I'd stay here again, as almost everything is so horrible. I'd rather pay more and stay at better place.

Like an abandoned dormitory”
The place is like an abandoned dormitory..very old house..NO aircon, NO towels, you have to pay for "rent" for the towels, shared bathroom, they are eco friendly..no tissue in the toilet!! Our room has this open side like a mistakenly put as a door and just covered with wires (screen) and just a curtain inside..just imagine when the electric fan is moving the curtain is moving as well and people from outside can see you! It's like 10 to 15 minutes to the airport..NO nearby good restaurants /stores..

Attracted by good reviews”
One of the reasons i picked this place, besides the rather close proximity to the airport, was due to the reviews of previous guests. Found out that it's really good. It's a comfortable stay. However, one would have to travel a little far to look for food especially at night. You may have to walk a bit more if you do not have your own transport, but i would say it's a pretty safe neighbourhood.

decent budget but some annoyances and inconveniences”
Across street from prison. Compound of mostly long term bungalow rentals. Far from food, shopping, tourist attractions but shop opened recently onsite serving chicken rice. Roadside food vendors on Palahwan roada bout 20 minute walk away that are open late into evening. Ganang road poorly lit at night, so may be uncomfortable for solo females at night. Can catch bus to city near compound entrance. About 2.5km from airport--about 30minute walk. Washrooms cleaned daily and men's is "open" to outside so easy for critters (lizards, cockroaches) to enter. Sliding doors of rooms noisy when shutting/locking. Upstairs tenants can be very noisy at night. Bodywash and toilet paper provided. No kitchen but cutlery, cups, couple bowls, kettle, drinking water provided. WiFi usually good but issues connecting and slow speeds last 4 days of stay. Building doors covered with plastic screens so good airflow, but allow rain in and noises from outside. Owners helpful, friendly. Rooms hot.

good value”
This place is in the rather strange setting, in the complex of apartments of working class people. The location is closer to the airport but a bit far from the city, and nearest store is 10min walk. The plus side is Minibus 17 from Wawasan will get you to the door. It is Malaysian version of a "trailer park" in North America... Having said that, Nothing wrong with it, and all the neighbour and children are very nice, and i didn't feel any problem with security. The reception was very nice and helpful, and all place is kept very clean. The price structure is very fair and recommended is book one night and pay the rest once you get there.
