Very friendly staff and impressive service”
The hotel is slightly old and amenities are basic, but I'll stay at this hotel again the next time I visit Mandalay because of the staff - they were very friendly, and the service was impressive. I accidentally tipped several of my earrings down the basin one morning, and the hotel staff took apart the pipe to retrieve the earrings while I was away for the day, and wrapped them up nicely and left them at the reception for me when I returned. I felt very welcomed throughout the stay, and I'd highly recommend staying here if you are on a modest business trip. It's within convenient driving distances of the key sightseeing sights (about 10 minutes), and is good value. Internet is also relatively reliable.

Nice hotel, well situated and friendly staff”
The Great Wall hotel is of a reasonable standard and well situated in Mandalay. I stayed for 2 nights in early Jan 2013 and only room available was Junior Suite for approx per night . Suite was clean and well appointed and a good size but obviously a few years old and some of the updates,. On the plus side the rooftop restaurant was a lovely place to be and included breakfast good if not great.

Nice and reasonable”
With a rooftop restaurant that has a great view this hotel was a good price for the size of room and facilities. It seems to be aimed at Chinese tourists but there was a mix of nationalities staying when I was there, it's close to some of the main attractions in Mandalay and very comfortable.

Reasonable price but poor location”
quite a long way from centre of mandalay (taxi cost approx 5000k), in a uninteresting built up area and on a very busy road. pavements around are in very poor condition and therefore difficult to walk anywhere without an accident.

Back to the future !”
For sure you are not in the 21st century when you enter Great Wall Hotel, but Myanmar just opened and you can enjoy a staff which is very very kind to the customers. I guess in a couple of years the hotel will be very clean and the staff may not be as kind as today. Enjoy !

Cozy room, good location, over priced”
The room is ok clean. The location is fine, not in city center but it is not difficult to travel. You have a connection to taxi everywhere anyhow in Mandalay. The staff is speaking english with well service mind. The hotel rate is quite expensive compared you want you get in SEA, but it is normal in Mandalay, unless you go for backpacker level.

Lovely hotel and service with a smile”
If you are a Chinese. Great Wall is best. You can find chinese speaking girls here. They're very helpful. They can arrange taxi or motorcycle for you. A motorcycle ride to U Biean Bridge is cost effective. The rooms are not that modern, but comfortable.

Decent”
Mandalay was a let down after Bagan. Not much here of note. The town is dusty, smelly and a taxi transportation rip off. Appreciative of the international airport as a way to exit Myanmar. The one thing of note and worth the early morning hour is the Buddha face washing at Mahamuni Paya.

Big rooms but very chinese”
this hotel is located somewhere in the centre of mandalay but it's not a nice walk to start your sightseeing trip from here as you have to walk along a busy dusty road. the rooms are ok but there's no real value for your money.

Great room, very friendly staff, location ok.”
We liked this hotel and it is only a short taxi ride to most things. Sure the wi-fi was intermittent and the hot water unreliable but I don't blame e hotel - this is Manderlay, Myanmar not Manhatten or Melbourne. Initially I was put off by many negative comments but now I've been there I think they are a bit harsh.

Sumptous Rooms”
The suite is large with open bedroom, living room and marble bathroom. All facilities are catered for including high speed wifi. Restaurant is on the rooftop and provides a wide selection of food and tremendous views over the city. Hotel is upgrading and there was some building activity. But that cesed at 5:00 pm and was not a major disturbance.

Necessity proved fortunate”
hotel bookings in myanmar are very popular with boom in business and tourist visitors. my travelling companion and i wanted single rooms but none available and we were forced to share a junior suite. it was very large (with good separation between the beds so my snoring was minimised). a/c was good . we hired a car and driver through the hotel for sightseeing at a reasonable price. hotel is a quite a distance from town centre.breakfast was geared more to asian tastes than western.

Exceptional”
Excellent staff, super friendly and very attentive. They were very helpful in organizing bus ticket and taxi. I stayed in a room on the sixth floor, which it was nice and large, and it had a beautiful view of the city and the sunset. I would definitely stay here again!

A unique step back in time”
The staff was attentive and the room was large and clean but do not expect anything too fancy. Decor was quaint, with wood columns, wood floors, and it felt like we were staying in a hotel 100 years back. The two bad points were constant daytime construction either in the building or next door and the hotel is located on the road from the airport which is dangerous to walk so it is recommend to get a taxi to sight-see or try to find a good restaurant.

Hotel on busy street far from center”
The hotel is too expensive considering the status. The place needs renovation. The lobby looks ok and the rooms are quite big, but renovation would help. When the window was closed the noise from the street was hard to hear. There must be some renovation going on, as during daytime we could hear some hammering. The roof top restaurant is in a desperate status and not inviting at all. Breakfast Asian type, which for us was ok but most likely for other people not. Far from center, they arrange taxis but as Mandalay has not many taxis on the road, we decided to keep taxi waiting when we went on trips or for food. This becomes costly. An hour costs 6000 K driving or waiting.

Big room but poor location, expensive service”
Room is big and old chinese fashion, but never get a room at 6 floor or 614 area, very noisy through out the whole day coz they said it is the wind-mill on top of the floor so it makes noise every 10 mins... the service in hotel was fine, but you can not expect the hotel provide you any information about traveling around, they will commission up the service like hell - a day car service 800000kyat (while we get the white-taxi for 30000kyat), to airport 18000kyat(while we paid 8000kyat), bicycle a day 8000kyat (while we rented 2000kyat). motorcycle taxi to town center we normally pay 1000kyat per person, and the hotel security guard was so "nice" to help us out that the motorcyclist told us 1500kyat each but the guard said "no no no its 5000kyat each".... never! get the service from anyone in the hotel.

Reasonable stay at Manadalay”
Hotel is good but serving break fast in open is not acceptable as there was very humid and polluted environment when you are taking food outside in open. Rest everything was fine.
