"A simple budget hotel. For $59 bucks it was a bargain, especially in Sydney. If you are ok with sharing bathroom facilities (very clean) I'd highly recommend this place. It has charm and a sense of history. It's location was the best, close to the pier and ocean, as if it's tucked away in a secret secluded area. I took the ferry back and forth constantly between Circular key using my Opal card which is capped at $15.80 for the whole day. Take the Ferry rather than the train, it's a better experience. If you're short on cash you can even walk the harbour bridge. It only takes 20 mins. There's a cafe at the pier, I highly recommend it just for the ambiance and view of the ocean while you sip your coffee. It'll be part of the Sydney experience also. The negative part is that you can hear people using the bathroom (fans, stomping, talking, door closing) if your room is located next to it. Just get some earplugs. Location is the best, different, quiet, charming, relaxed."

"Probably the best value accommodation in the Sydney area - the king room with ensuite was large, clean and comfortable - nicer than much more expensive hotels I've stayed at in Sydney. There is a communal kitchen for all to use, and there is (limited) on site parking. It is a very quiet residential area, yet walking distance to public transport and the city. Unfortunately the ferry terminal at the end of the street was under renovation, it would be great to have that operational during a visit. There is free wifi which was functional most of the time. My only complaint was the painfully flow restricted shower head, and issues waiting for hot water to flow."

"We stayed here NYE 2014 and we were surprised by how nice the lodge was for the price paid. We didn't try any food on our stay so are unable to comment on that. The only downfall we found was the shower facility was poor in terms of water being slow / stopping but other than that I'd say this was a hidden gem. Short distance to Sydney was also a bonus just a quick bus ride made it even more perfect for our plans. The room was just what we needed for the night. "

Every time we returned to it throughout our 3 days in Sydney, it was almost like coming home. "I stayed at Dalziel Lodge because of its location in relation to the RNSH. I wanted somewhere close enough to walk me very day but within a sensible price range. The lodge was perfect! In a quiet area, lovely staff, respectful occupants and still within easy travel to the highlights of Sydney. I will be telling all my work mates, friends and family what an awesome place it is."

"We were very happy with our stay. It's a short walk from the ferry to Cremorne House and taking the ferry across the Harbour was wonderful each morning - great views of the Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We found the prices for hotels in Sydney, very expensive, and the cost here was more reasonable. Granted, it's not a 5-star hotel with pool, spa, fitness center, we found it just fine for our needs. Breakfast was very simple with fresh fruit, a variety of cereals, breads and jam, coffee and tea."

"Perfectly ok for the money. Breakfast was basic and dinner was small but really nice. This is not a holiday destination location but if your local and want a cheap place to stay and some food then this is perfect. It’s clean, a good size and good value for money. Would stay here again if I needed a stop though. Lots of older people and not much atmosphere so don’t stay if your looking to party..."

"We loved St Marks. Anastasia was cheerful, helpful and able to answer questions about Sydney for us. The room was gorgeous. The bed was great - nice and firm as we like it. St marks is located five minutes from a bus stop and we were able to get a bus to anywhere in Sydney that we chose to go. The immediate neighbourhood was very upmarket and we enjoyed our early morning walks. There was an amazing array of cafes and restaurants all within a ten minute walk, plus a supermarket and shopping centre as well. This was good as it would have been impossible to prepare any cooked foods. However, there was a fridge in the room as well as crockery and cutlery. We had originally booked for our first three days in Sydney with the intention of scouting around for other accommodation. But after the first night, we extended our booking for our entire ten day holiday. "
