Excellent hospitality!”

The staff here extremely professional and attentive to insure your most enjoyable stay. Our room was very spacious, clean and comfortable. The bathroom was also very modern and functional. The location is also well situated within the City of Hagi. One area of improvement would be to provide English user guide cards for the use of room AC/heating and the TV. Remote controls for both appliances are entirely in Japanese and would be difficult for foreign visitors to use. We really enjoyed our stay in Hagi and would highly recommend staying here for authentic Japanese Ryokan experience.

General Info”

Hagi is an interesting historical city and this hotel is a very nice (luxurious) ryokan. Overnighting here means sleeping on the floor Japanese style. Always ask for 2-3 futons to give enough softness! :) Getting around Hagi by the local tourist bus is easy and inexpensive using a day pass with a full schedule from early morning until 6 PM. Finding reasonable restaurants is a problem. The hotel assumes you will eat there so they don't really know what or where to suggest. We walked extensively through the town to see the historical sites and learn a bit. Restaurants were not to be found anywhere except a couple of shabby places. We like Japanese foods and are not fussy but we elected to buy take-out sushi boxes from the local grocery store after eating in the one place the hotel recommended and which is supposed to be one of the best in Hagi. Mediocre fish in a seafood place and way over priced for the quality. Hagi is good for a brief visit but be inventive about food.

Quiet, elegant luxury in an off the beaten path location”

We loved this beautiful ryokan. The staff were so charming - English is extremely limited, but they worked hard to make us feel welcome. The welcoming tea, the fabulous meals, the spacious rooms, the old world charm all made this a special stay for us. Tomoe has bicycles to rent on site - Hagi is a wonderful town to tour by bike. No wifi in the rooms, only in the lobby, but that is a good thing!

Points positifs : navette AR depuis gare Higashihagi, accueil sympathique, très beau ryokan ancien de 25 chambres, confort nocturne/ lits jumeaux western posés sur tatamis, grande chambre au RDC sur grand jardin privatif, vaste placard. Inconvénients : liaison internet instable, petits fauteuils trop bas. Rester maximum 2 nuits dans ce ryokan de 1925. Le dîner du 1er soir servi en chambre est fantastique, Le 2e diner, un peu moins copieux, reste acceptable. Mais, la qualité des maigres mets du 3e dîner laisse à désirer.. Méme constat pour le petit déjeuner. (9e voyage au Japon). Petit onsen intérieur.

がっかりでした”

萩の老舗のお宿ということで伺いました。 窓を開けたらホテルの建物しか見えませんでした。 お夕飯を食べて10時頃お部屋に戻るとお布団が敷いてありませんでした。お願いすると若い女の子が2人で来室し、挨拶もせず布団を敷いて行きました。最後は失礼しますと言っていかれましたが〜。 なんだか布団敷きをお願いしたこちらが悪いような感じでした！

הצוות לא יודע אנגלית וזה הקשה מאוד על התקשורת אתם. ארוחת הערב החדר היתה קצת מעיקה בגלל שירות יתר הרבה דיבורים שלא הבנו. ארוחת הבוקר היפנית דומה יותר מתי לארוחת הערב וזה ממש קשה
