fantastic hotel will a out of the world view”

Great view and great service staff

The first thing that you will notice about this hotel is the fantastic view. you can see mount fuji from your room and the courtyard is so beautiful you wish to have your wedding there. With such great scenary and nice room. I decided to propose to my girlfriend at this hotel. The staff was very helpful in our email communication and suggested some ways on how best to arrange my special event. During our stay, the staff went beyond their duty to help us make our stay as comfortable and romantic as possible. The hotel is in a remote area of hakone although most places can be reached by bus and ship terminal nearby. Food at the restaurant is delicious. you can choose between western fare and teppanyaki. We tried the french restaurant and it definately taste the best the country can offer. To get there take bus H or R from hakone yumoto station. You can start your sightseeing trip from there. The onsen is a staggered time spa alternating between male and female timings. do check with the staff when you can enter the spa. All in all, fantastic rooms, service and facilities at a very reasonable price.

Great View of Lake Ashinoko and Mount Fuji -Frien”

Convenient place, Friendly staff, Nice view of Lake Ashinoko and Mount Fuji

We stayed one night at Hakone Hotel. Location is very close to the busstop (to Moto-Hakone,....,... and finally Odawara) and Hakone-Machi Pier (Hakone Sightseeing Ships from Togendai). Staff is very friendly. We stayed at twin room.Facilities are very good and rooms are comfortable(at front deck, we requested lake view room). Two ladies who were at front desk can speak English very well and nicely talked with us.One was pleasantly guided us. However, foods are very expensive in Hotel restaurant. In overall, Hakone Hotel is very good option to enjoy your holiday with family.

Great place to stay for Hakone”

Nice view, Spacious room and Huge bathroom

All was great for our stay at Hakone Hotel! Definitely love the room, even though the hotel wasn't a tall building, fear not, it has a clear view of Mt Fuji (if the weather permits) and being located quite a distance from train station, they have shuttle bus to and fro hotel. All you have to do is to request for it. The bathroom was superb. Huge toilet, bathtub and even the basin. Nothing to complain about! Everything was clean and hotel staff were friendly. We paid extra for their buffet breakfast and the food was great. Not a huge selection if compared to international hotels but definitely enough to satisfy you and keep you full. A choice you won't regret at Hakone!

Beautiful lake views from the onsen, comfortable and convenient”

Very convenient location to start your day tour of the Hakone area, as the Pirate Ship (Sightseeing Cruise) is just 5 mins walk away. There's also a bus stop opposite the hotel. Breakfast was amazing! Delicious food, lots of options, and great views of Mount Fuji from the restaurant. Loved the 2 different Onsen, especially the openair one with views over the lake and across to Mount Fuji. As per other reviews, it's not a super modern hotel, but the facilities are fine. Spacious, comfortable and warm rooms. We travelled in December, and found that the local restaurants closed by 6pm on Monday and Tuesday nights. So on our first night we ate in one of the hotel restaurants. On our second night we had an early dinner at one of the small seafood restaurants opposite the hotel. Convenience store also closed early. We pre-booked the hotel shuttle bus from Odawara station, and it was easy to find.

Very nice surrounds”

Location and the surrounds

The Hakone hotel doesn't look like the picture you see on the website. It is a bit run down and the paint no longer shines on the outside. There hotel is situated right on Lake Ashi so that is a bonus and it's walking distance to ride the pirate ship across the lake. The rooms are huge and have nice views over the lake. Comfortable beds and all amenities you need. The restaurant is a bit expensive but there are some other restaurants around that you can go to. Check that they are open though. We spent an evening looking for a restaurant and they were all closed. It was probably not the high season. There is a groovy bar downstairs that has half price cooktails in happy hour!

Big room with great view”

The room is big and spacious and we got the view of the lake as well as Mt. Fuji. It is awesome!

One night at Hakone is really insufficient. We missed the pirate ship which i believed will be of great fun. There is really nothing much to do around the vicinity of the hotel. Accessibility - unable to access by train and requires an hour public bus transport. Something we dread doing so as there is no room for luggage and the bus is really crowded. There is free hotel shuttle which is really comfortable but we were not able to book the shuttle while we are getting there as the timing didn't fit nicely. However, we were able to get the free shuttle during our departure. Hotel Staff - the hotel staff is awesome! We reached the hotel bus-stop and it was raining. The hotel staff came to us with umbrella to provide shelter to us and helped with our luggage. This is really welcoming. Hotel Room - The room is really spacious. We booked 2 rooms and i specifically requested for the rooms to be next to each other. We had the rooms next to each other plus we got a the lake view with ability to view Mt. Fuji. Awesome!

Great Lakeside Location with Views”

Location, accessibility, local activities

Aside from limited and expensive dining options, an ideal spot capturing limited views of Fuji across Lake Ashi and providing easy access to the various options provided by the Hakone Free Pass transportation package. Buy the Pass upon arrival, board the H bus from Hakone Yomoto and get off at Hakonehotelmae right in front of the hotel! Use the Pass over the course of a full day visit to bus, train, cable car, rope way and sail around the area right back to the doorstep of your hotel. Quiet area with lots of interesting walks in the immediate vicinity.

Beautiful hotel by a serene lake, but boring town”

Stayed here with my parents for a few nights as we toured Hakone and as a base of travel, it is great. Situated by a lovely lake, it is the mid point of the Hakone Circuit; meaning you can connect to the main station via a 45 minute bus ride or take the boat across to the cable car station and back round the other way. The hotel itself is beautiful and immaculate with a nice art deco style - the view of the lake is enchanting. Rooms are decent and clean. The hotel served a lovely buffet breakfast and the baths on site were nice. The downsides of this hotel are the location and the lack of options for travellers. There are graveyards more lively than the nearby town with no restaurants open past 7pm and no convenience stores or any options to eat there were many groups of hungry visitors wandering around the streets with no food at 8pm. If you don't eat before you arrive at the hotel or bring food, you are stuck with the hotel's overpriced pseudo French cuisine at $100 plus a head. Fine if you are expecting Gordon Ramsay but come on...

Stunning location, lovely clean friendly hotel.”

Location is amazing, looking over the lake to Mt Fuji. Staff very friendly.

This is a really great hotel. It is on Lake Ashi and 2 mins from the boat rides, from which you can change to cable car. The bus from Odawara and Hakone train stations stop outside the hotel so great transport links and the hotel does a free shuttle service to Odawara 3 times a day. The room we had looked straight had a beautiful view and was spacious and very clean. The Onsen is a great extra to this hotel, especially in the quiet evenings and is well used. The staff kindly gave us written instructions in English on how to use it!! Staff in general were very helpful and spoke some English.

Charming old hotel by Lake Ashi”

I've visited Hakone five times already. The rates of Hakone Hotel were extremely reasonable by local standards. The view of the lake from the room on a clear day is a sight to behold. I loved the breakfast and the free daily cocktails. The onsens, especially the outdoor one, were a great way to relax after a long day of exploring Hakone. I would stay at this hotel again.

Good facilities, great location, pricy meals”

Location and quality of room

The hotel is on the edge of Lake Ashi with splendid views across the lake to the mountains, including Mount Fuji. Our bedroom was large and well equipped. All the staff efficent and helpful. Hakone Machi is quite busy during the day, with tourists passing through en route to the ferries across the lake. (The ferry terminal is 2 minutes walk from the hotel.) We were expecting to find some local cafes or small restaurants for our evening meal. There were none, so we had to eat in one of the hotel restaurants, where the food was good, but the choice was limited and the prices high. We had light meals in the coffee shop on both nights at Y7,000 (for two) on the first night and Y9,000 on the second night. The buffet breakfasts at Y2,310 each were very good and included the highlight of gazing at Mount Fuji as we ate.

Fantastic Location”

Fantastic location with morning views of Mt Fuji over breakfast. We enjoyed the nice big bedroom although a bit overheated. disappointed with lack of facilities. Little information in rooms about facilities or surrounding area. Price was reasonably high range, but Paper coffee cups in our room. Not sure why they couldn’t put proper coffee cups in the room. Everything closes at 6pm in Hakone, but no room service, you either had to go to the bar, wait for your meal & eat downstairs or go to the restaurant there. Beware happy hour, they tell you some drinks are half price, but actually they were the same price outside of happy hour. Haha Staff were lovely, overall a great two night stay. 😀

highly recommend”

it's our second time here and this hotel is a perfect place for a night or two in Hakone. located on the lake with a perfect view, onsen included in the price (my preferred one is on the 3rd floor), nice breakfast, smiling staff... if you are looking for a chic fancy hotel it might not be your first choice but that's the charm here.

Very comfortable,convenient and good access.”

Best comfort stay in unique hotel. Staffs are friendly & specially helpful. Good location with easy access to visit Mt Fuji.

Excellent stay for my whole family of four. We love the clean & peaceful stay. With helpful staffs, who speak English, to give & advise us directions of visiting Hakone. Their service rendered is unique & very courteous. Highly recommending friends & relatives to stay this hotel. The location of the hotel is so convenient to visit Mt Fuji. Easy transport available near the hotel. The shuttle bus provided by the hotel is very comfortable to ride.

Fantastic hotel, lovely onsen”

The view from the rooms is spectacular, the onsen are great (especially the open-air one on the third floor) and the restaurants serve tasty food. The hotel sits a two minute walk (at most) from the Hakone-Machi bus terminal and the pirate ship departure point, and has a bus stop directly across the street as well. The rooms are large and spotlessly clean. I recommend this hotel highly.

Wonderful hotel next to the Lake Ashin”

Clean comfortable rooms, regular bus shuttle transfer from hotel to Odawara

The family had a relaxing time at this hotel using it as the base for Hakone attactions. When we arrived at Odawara from Tokyo, the hotel had a shuttle bus running between Odawara train station and the hotel. This made travel easy, especially with our luggages. The hotel staff were friendly and willing to help with any travel or location queries. From the banks of Lake Ashin you can see Mt Fuji afar at a clear day.

Hotel with fantastic view and location”

Location, view and private bath

It was the highlight of my one-week trip in Japan. Hakone hotel is most conveniently situated by the side of Lake Ashi and all its rooms have lake view. It is just next to the jetty to take the cruise on Lake Ashi on a pirate ship. It is also within 5 min walk to the old Hakone checkpoint, another attraction. The hotel has a private bath which comprises an onsen and a hot jacuzzi. We were given a welcome drink of hot orange squash with rum which was warm and delicious on a cold evening. The only downside is that you need to book and eat dinner at the hotel unless you are prepared to sit very early outside as the restaurants nearby close very early between 5 and 6pm.

Lovely and Perfect lake view”

Perfect lake view

We stay 1 night and we really enjoy staying here. Perfect lake view and it was snowing at that night, it double our enjoyment. Hotel is clean and staffs are very friendly. Easy to find as it is just next to the jetty. There is a souvenir shop just next to it and Hakone Checkpoint and the Onshi-Hakone Park is just nearby. Hot spring is free for hotel users, a schedule will be provided.
