The 2nd closest hotel from Unessan, hot spring ”

Memo: One night stay in October 2019. 15 minutes drive from Hakone Yumoto station. No restaurant inside the hotel, but breakfast will be served at lounge. We stayed at Japanese style spacious room. Two double size beds. One toilet but no bath or shower booth in the room. They have Free Wi-fi. Very clean, quiet, and comfortable. Staffs were so nice, so kind, and talkative. Although we arrived lately, they welcomed us with perfect smile and kindness. We saw visitors from outside of Japan. If you are looking for a delicious dinner, we recommend “OMOTO”, walk 15 minutes or drive 5 minutes from the hotel.

Secluded hotel with delicious fresh bread at breakfast”

Hotel was located a few bus stops away from Kowakidani and Gora stations, or about 30 minutes from Hakone Yumoto station. Slightly inconvenient getting to / from the hotel to the train station, and highly challenging if one had big suitcases as the buses could get crowded at times. Our room was huge, comfortable and very Japanese (tatami mats, futons, floor seating) with big windows looking out to trees planted around the property. As it was autumn, the colours could be seen from within our room. No ensuite bathroom (ensuite toilet was available), showers had to be taken either at the public baths or in a private one which requires booking (free for guests). Breakfast was quite good with bread that was made fresh on premise. Going to Moto-Hakoneko for the sightseeing tour is easy with a direct bus from the nearest bus stop. Restaurant does not serve food during dinner but Family Mart and 7-Eleven are about 5 - 10 minutes' walk away.

Serene Onsen Hotel”

Love this places as it's is so quiet with hot spring/Onsen in the hotel. Although limited food choices in surrounding area but everything else make up to it. Bus station is less than 10 mins walk to get around Hakone and even to Gotemba for Shopping!

Quiet, Clean, Classic”

We enjoyed our stay very much....just what we needed after the hustle and bustle of Tokyo and Kyoto. At first, the hotel seems remote, but it is a short 20-30 min walk to wonderful restaurants: Gora Brewery & Grill, Itoh Dining by NOBU. We highly recommend visiting the Okada Museum of Art, a short walk from the hotel. The staff was very helpful and attentive. The hotel was so quiet, we thought we were the only visitors there, but in fact, the hotel was fully booked. Will definitely recommend to friends and family.

Lovely little hotel in Hakone”

We stayed here for one night and were pleasantly surprised at this lovely hotel. The staff at front desk were friendly and very willing to help with our queries. A free breakfast of tea/coffee and pastries was provided (we missed the breakfast as we got the wrong time, but the gentleman in the dining area still let us take coffee and pastries for our room). The hotel had a nice little public onsen area (the private onsen was closed at the time). Room was a mix of modern and traditional, with tatami mat flooring and proper beds. Clean and spacious room.

The place met my expectations. It's not extravagant but it is superb!”

What stood out in this hotel was the staff. They were all amazing people. The room is very clean and and the toiletries are complete. I also enjoyed the onsen. What I will suggest for them is to improve the breakfast options and offer more variations.

A beautiful small hotel”

The hotel is quite small (think only have 12 - 15rooms) but is good that way cause the hotel is quiet and u can have good rest there. My favourite was the hot spa in the hotel that open for customer from 6am - 10am and 3pm - 12am. Also they provide free bread/toast at 7am - 9am. However, I think the only cons of this hotel is the location. If you’re not travel by own transport it’s quite difficult for you to pull big luggage and walk quite a bit from the nearest bus stop to the hotel. But if you’re driving totally no issue.

Beautiful property and big rooms good for large group”

What’s good: 1) Beautiful property, surrounded by trees 2) Large room size, good for large groups 3) Polite and friendly staff Things to look out for: 1) Steep slope to overcome before property entrance, travelers who are not driving and are carrying heavy baggage need to be careful 2) Public bath is not very big, if the occupancy rate is high, some may find the bath to be too crowded at times

Good quick stay”

Nice place to relax. Close to a bus line, and walking path and YUNESSAN(hot springs theme park). Downside is that the hotel doesn’t have a dining facility in the building so you have to eat out (they were kind enough to provide a list of restaurants - with estimated walking distance/time and type of food). Bonus was they let you keep the Yukata that the hotel has.

Extremely super friendly staff made this an incredible choice. We throughly enjoyed our stay here. Easily accessible by bus. The hotel also has a private onsen you can use.

A lovely experience”

Loved this place: The onsen was my first time experience and was simply excellent. Very good amenities. The futon beds were very comfortable.The staff doesn't speak English well but communicates well with written material. A little far from the center by foot, but easy access by bus.

Location difficult to find, especially when the sun has set!”

We stayed there for 2 nights. We got to the hotel at night and it was rather difficult to locate. Not many dining places nearby, thus we got to the nearest Lawson's (near the bus stop) to get food before heading back to hotel at night. But rather walkable to the bus stop. The morning autumn scene around the hotel area was pretty in the morning, especially when having breakfast. Staff could not really understand English well and communication can be barrier. The best part in my opinion was the private bath which you could book as I was not comfortable being in the hotel's public bath though the general crowd within the hotel is already considered small.

There is a very steep slope from the bus stop to the accoms. But the accoms is very comfortable, has a modern onsen, and with a 10mins walk to convenience store and 3mins walk to bus stop.

A clean, functional, impersonal hotel (not at all a traditional ryokan), a bit in the middle of nowhere (some restaurants around 15-20 min walk , all closing super early), very limited breakfast. Pleasant onsen.
