Beautiful getaway location”
Hakone Retreat was definitely a highlight of my husband’s and my honeymoon trip to Japan. The staff was very attentive and so so helpful! Even though we only stayed one night, they were so kind and hospitable! We stayed in the Tarumi villa, which had a wonderful private onsen. This was perfect to soak in after a long traveling day and before leaving to visit the local art museums. We hope to spend time here again with our families!

An amazing, beautiful place, ideal to relax and spend quality time together! The villas are everything you can expect, and more. The place is somewhat isolated, and it is difficult to move around without a car. Buses are not running after the typhoon of 10/2019. The staff is generally very friendly and helpful. However, communication has been really difficult in English and we found it easier to talk to Chinese-speaking staff. It can quickly become a problem if a situation arises. The hotel and restaurants are separate businesses. There are frequent miscommunications in that domain, which resulted in my fiancee being left without a dinner on the second day of our stay. It took a couple hours to sort things out and we ended up being picked up by a nearby restaurant, that we otherwise wouldn't have been able to get to on our own. We have been told this happens routinely. A ruined evening. Dinner options at the hotel are very limited, and the french dinner isn't substantial.

The Kasakei dinners at Nest Inn Hakone were probably one of the best I had in Japan. They were exquisite! Staff are extremely helpful, warm and they make you feel totally at home. Love the cedar wood smell of our Villa. Only comment I have is on the relatively poor house keeping. Cabin is very dusty. The private onsen tube in villa was slimy - probably not been scrubbed prior to our arrival. As we reuse the bath towels, the housekeeper kept piling more and more towels onto the rack. Overall, we were very well rested and taken care of. Would definitely recommend anyone who likes rustic place to chill.

Had some troubles when checking in, (please be advised that the Run of the House option is not for the Villa side, but for Fore instead) but everything was taken care of eventually. This place was great and my gf and I are already thinking of when we can come back!

the house is nice. nothing i dont like. most of the staff are very helpful and friendly. BUT!!!! 1 of them....disappointed me. i have been to japan more than 10 times. stay in most top resorts of each city around japan. all of the staff will deny the tips. they will say that this is my job and they do with full heart of service. but this male stafff (wearing glasses ..on the day to go/ is night time check in). he's the one who take me to the room and bring our luggages to the room. he's waiting. his act is just Hey! give me the tips. your bags are so heavy as he mention to my girlfriend "Do You put the gold in the luggage!!! they r so heavy" and this is my first time in Japan that make my girlfriend feeling bad. the tips is fine because we always did in every country that we went but not in Japan.

Amazing facilities, disappointing service”
We booked this hotel for one night to celebrate our engagement. We sent several requests weeks in advance to let the staff know that firstly, it was a special night for us, secondly that one member of our party had dietary needs and thirdly could they advise us on directions to the hotel using a JR pass. We received no reply, the hotel was difficult to find and we had to walk up an unlit path in the dark with no directions. When we arrived, the staff were surprised to hear about our engagement and food requests, even though someone from the hotel had printed our requests out already. There was no food available for us to eat in the restaurant or minibar - we had toast at the nearby bar. Nothing had been set up in our celebration and when we rang reception, they could not provide us with anything to toast the occasion. The room is exquisite and we really enjoyed the facilities however it is clear they didn’t read any sent messages and the service needs to improve.

We went here to spoil ourselves with the private onsen. I loved it; I must have took ~10 onsen sessions in 2 days. The facilities are top notch as well; the fire place, cozy. Nothing to complain about. It was very quiet and isolated; definitely take your time to find peace, to find yourself.

大雨の中で滞在”
大雨と霧で芦ノ湖の景観も富士山も見えない中、滞在しましたが、スタッフの方が部屋とレストランをカートで送迎していただき、滞在中、なに不自由なく過ごせました。子どもも妻も部屋の雰囲気の良さと広さに大喜びしてくれて、連れてきた甲斐がありました。雨の音と鳥の声を聞きながらの朝は最高でした。
