Nice. Only when both elevators are working”
There were two elevators but only one was working in the first three days I was there. It was such a nuisance to wait on line for 15 minutes and I had to walk for 13 floors everyday for three days. When both elevators were up and running it was a breeze. Check if both are working before booking.

    Value for money”
The location is great, the room is clean & the staff is friendly. The buffet breakfast spread is good enough with omelette, scrambled egg, pancake, yogurt, oatmeal, bagel as well as hot beverages! Thumbs up for the unlimited supply of hot & cold water. The disadvantage is that only 2 small lift served the whole hotel. Beware of the morning traffic, try to eat breakfast before 8am. The room is small, no extra space to open luggage. Anywhere, New York is a adventurous city! The room only for us to sleep. So overall is good and we would like to rec to everyone who wish to find a clean, friendly and budget hotel in Manhattan!

    Location was Perfect”
First off, the location was perfect. It was a walking distance to everywhere. The staff were friendly and helpful. Only thing is the gym and the laundry area was located at the partner hotel beside the holiday inn. It wouldnt have been a problem if the weather wasnt so cold but I was able to manage. Breakfast was the usual affair but after a few days you’d want a liitle variety but it was filling. Overall it was a good place to stay.

Poor reponse and update information from Hotel and Agoda customer service”
I book online but missed payment rules, need to pay at reception. I try to ask Agoda but it seems not much supporting from Agoda. The hotel required to fill a form but I was not aware to provide credit card & ID etc, all confidential information. No one care about my email and forms till I chased again and again, and found the supporting information required. I also raised a question but no one answer: If you can charge my first day hotel fee, why not 2nd & 3rd day also meanwhile, instead of asking so much sensetive & privacy information and have to fullfil all? Even though I fullfill all information, still no one tell me the payment process is done or not, and charge whose card.

Central location, short walking distance to Times Square and the broadway show area.
Comfortable short stay. The rooms are small but thats expected for a central hotel in New York. I like the simple no frills self service breakfast area. The front desk staff were helpful and friendly. Hotel is close to Times Square and the broadway show area. It was a decent walk to the Intrepid museum displaying the world war 2 era aircraft carrier, a cold war submarine and the space shuttle Enterprise, which was fantastic.

Clean, modern hotel with many conveniences”
Great staff and good location (39 St), just one block away from Times Square Station (and Port Authority Bus Terminal: 40-42 St) and walking distance to Penn Station (and Macy*s: 34 St)
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Holiday Inn Express. My room (King-sized bed) was very clean and comfortable – flat screen TV (loads of free channels including HBO and USA), easily adjustable air-conditioning, welcome chocolates, cabinets and closet for storage, work desk and chair, clean and reasonably-sized bathroom and complimentary internet access (wired and wireless). Complimentary hot coffee and water/tea and some fruit juices available 24/7 at the breakfast area on the ground floor – great if you felt like having a hot drink any time of the day! One of the great things I found about the hotel was the helpful and approachable staff and service. When I arrived in the afternoon, the reception staff (I think his name was Jaime) was really friendly and I felt at home at once (my first trip to NYC). For once I didn’t see a trace of the “rude and unfriendly” New Yorker and was really pleasantly surprised. He also suggested some places I could visit. Throughout my stay, he remembered my name and would say hi when I passed by. In the lobby there are two computer terminals and printing is free – useful if you needed to print online tickets etc. On the morning of my departure (19 Jun), because my transport was a little late – the hotel staff was kind and helpful, and she even volunteered to help me call the transport company just to make sure I didn’t miss my flight. Excellent service overall!

Do not stay at this hotel”
This place should not be allowed as a hotel. It only has two elevators to a 34 floor bulding! It is actually a safety hazard. What happens if a guest needs urgent medical assistance? Going from my room to the lobby took as much as 30 minutes! Total outrage. Do not stay here.

The room was small but comfy and clean. The free breakfast was actually really good and the servers kept things filled and clean. I love hot strong showers and got that here. The fact that it was 2 blocks from Time Square was perfect. We had fun during the day and were able to sleep at night.

One of the two elevators was operated manually by the technician. Another was out of order. We had to wait for 20-30 minutes to get from 23rd floor to the lobby. The bathroom's door in our guest room could not be closed. Front desk staffs seemed not to be very friendly. They didn't smile at all.

The room was big enough. The bed comfortable enough. The staff friendly and helpful enough. But there was nothing really outstanding about this hotel. Breakfast was a buffet served with plastic forks and knives and Styrofoam plates. I can't help but think how much waste this hotel is creating every day just for breakfast.

    We always stay here”
Our third or maybe fourth time in a row staying here when visiting New York. The location's terrific, with the heart of both Times Square and the subway just a 5 or 10-minute walk way (a couple blocks). Rooms and beds are comfortable and everything works and is always clean. The staff has always been friendly and quite helpful with everything from room arrangements to directions to an area location. The breakfast is always good; though the room is small and so seating can be tight. But we always enjoy it. I gave a Satisfactory for Facilities not because of the difficulty with parking for loading/unloading. Most of the time, I've gotten "lucky" in that there's either been a space or I was able to pull alongside someone else who looked like they weren't planning to go anywhere anytime soon; but once I had to circle around the block a couple times until space opened up. Once the key is in the valet's hands, though, no worries. The car's always been returned in a timely manner and without incident. All in all, though, we enjoy staying at this hotel and plan to stay there again and I've recommended it to a couple of other people as well.

    Good location, small rooms”
Location near Times Square, complementary breakfast
This is a good hotel near to Times Square. The rooms are fairly small (I had a King which meant the bed took up nearly all of the room), but it wasn't too bad. The location near Penn Station and Times Square is good - only a few mims walk to each. And also the Port Authority building is nearby, good for buses/airport transfer. The staff at this hotel are great - very friendly and helpful. I couldn't fault them at all, so they deserve credit for what was very good service. The hotel offers a free breakfast in the morning. This is great, but unfortunately ends at 9.30am meaning if you've had a late night its likely you'll miss it. The choice of food is OK, it becomes a bit repetitive each day - sugary cereals, cinnamon buns etc. Also, the space it is served in is quite small - resulting in a 'starving hyena's' atmosphere when more than a few people gather around to choose food. This isn't the fault of the hotel (bar the space), more the patrons. The only other problem would be the elevators. Unfortunately there are only two, which can mean a long wait when you are upstairs waiting to come down. Overall I would recommend this hotel if you were planning to spend most of your time outside during the day (due to the size of the room). The staff are friendly and the location is good so you won't be disappointed.
