Good business hotel”

This is my 10th time in this hotel. it is located in a vibrant corner of Singapore, a short 10-minute walk from Aljunied MRT Station. Surrounded by well-known eateries, the cosy hotel offers value-for-money accommodation. 81 Palace is located in the colourful Geylang District, famous for its local eateries and nightlife options. The hotel is a 30-minute drive from Changi International Airport and a 15-minute drive from the popular Orchard Road. Guestrooms at Palace are fitted with ironing facilities and a tea/coffee maker. Each room comes with a private bathroom with hot shower.

Pleasant stay”

Compared to 2 other budget hotels rated 2 stars I stayed in Geylang area last Sept & Nov 2009, 81 Palace is better although it is rated 1 star. Room & bathroom is cleaner and also designed better. Better room paint color and floor tile also creates better ambiance. As other budget hotel, the room is small. But better furniture placement in 81 Palace hotel room creates ‘bigger’ space for guest. What I love the most is free & fast internet connection. Simply bring a laptop and ask the IP address to front desk to get connection. Very good access to public transportation, i.e. only 3 minutes walk to bus stop serving route to Orchard (bus #7), 8 minutes walk to Aljuined MRT station (EW 9) where I can get easy access from/to Changi airport and all other connected places. As in Geylang, we’ll find reasonably cheap and good (Asian) taste food everywhere near the hotel, cost ranging S$ 2.5 – 5. Although I haven’t tried all hotel in Geylang, I can say that 81 Palace is one of good budget hotel choice.

Tidy hotel and a very friendly service”

we're very satisfied. we'll be back in singapore soon and we'll surely stay at hotel 81 palace again! of course, we'll book at agoda again. hotel 81 palace is a satisfying hotel for budget conscious travelers. aside from keeping the rooms clean daily, the staffs are very accomodating. this hotel is also accesible to bus stations and smrt. cabs are also available infront of the hotel. we really enjoyed our stay there. i'll definitely refer this hotel to my friends and of course,i'll tell them to book to agoda! thanks agoda and hotel 81 palace! more power!

Great location”

for those who wanted to visit singapore i recommend hotel 81 palace located in the lively geylang road; rooms and wc are dirtfree chambermaid cleans daily and change all the blankets. staffs are well accommodating, nice and friendly. and you will not be bothered when it comes to foodstuff as eateries are close to the hotel. location is 10 minutes driving to orchard road where you can find shopping malls

I was going to Singapore for a seminar and needed a place to stay. My coleague refcomended Agoda website and i found several options in Hotel 81 and the hotel in Geylang was strategicly located with a wide choice of restaraunt to choose from. it is accessible to public trancportation and most of all the room for the prive i paid is certainly value for money. With ward reception to goog customer service and bundle with a fantastice room equiped with a clean comfortable bed and a LCD TV, you cannot complain but look forward to the next visit. With this experience i will choose Hotel 81 in any countries. Good Job

Great little hotel in a great location.”

Comfortable little rooms in central Geylang area. There are many eateries around the hotel all within walking distance easily. The food is all local street type food so do not expect high end restaurants as Geylang is where authentic Singaporean hawker style food is renowned for. Everything you would need is in Geylang and Hotel 81 Palace provides you with a lauching pad to see all areas of Singapore. Food in Geylang is available til the wee hours in the morning with people still eating and drinking til sunrise.

the Hotel 81 Group is admired by the local tour guide as the best of the budget hotel accomodations. This one is on a one-way street 50 meters from a major street, Geylang. The room is rather small but is very clean. The 24-hour desk staff is very helpful with suggestions for tours and restaurants, etc. If I were ever in Singapore again, I would stay here again. The internet connection costs S$10 for 24 hours, but runs noon to noon only. It is very fast and very reliable.

I really found this hotel a very nice place to stay in. I have checked in here 3 times and have been happy with my stay each time. The hotels personnel are warm and courteous. The hotel is ideally situated to the Singapore MRT as well as to the buses. The best thing about hotel 81 Palace is the fact that it is so easy to buy food any time of the day. I walked around at 2 in the morning and the food stalls were all open and still selling great food. Another nice thing about the hotel is that the staff are easy to talk too and incredibly helpful! All in all a great budget hotel for singapore.

The Hotel 81 Palace is part of a chain of Hotel 81’s in Singapore and is low cost and very affordable, it is located in Geylang which is a red light district in Singapore and is about 20 minutes from Changi airport by taxi. The drawbacks of this particular location are the numerous homeless persons which can be fairly aggressive, which is a result of being in a poor area of Singapore, coupled with the hardships of the current economic downturn. There is quite a bit of standing water so I would recommend some form of mosquito repellent. Also there is a lot of trash and very fragrant foods around that could be bothersome to some. That being said the hotel is located about 1 mile south-west of Aljunied metro station. For day trips I highly recommend Clark Quey, China Town, Raffles Place, City Hall, and Orchard Road. The weather is hot and humid so make sure to bring a lot of water whenever you go out. There are numerous shopping destinations in Singapore, particularly in Orchard and China Town. Also I recommend picking up a pay as you go phone if your cell phone or mobile does not work. The most basic phone will cost about $45 US dollars and to add more minutes you can buy a $20 top up card at any 7-11 store. 7-11’s are everywhere so it is very convenient. The staff at Hotel 81 Palace are very friendly and knowledgeable about the local tourist attractions. Being a low cost hotel the amenities are not very good and the hotel rooms are quite small and basic. Over all great value for money. In the future I will likely consider a more up scale hotel, but prices will likely be 3 times higher.

we enjoyed staying in the hotel because the room and comfort room are clean, the water supply is good, the facilities are functioning, and the staff are friendly. It's just a 10-15 walk from the mrt so it quite okay. we just don't want some of the people along the way since geylang is known for that but anyway they are not harmful...to sum it up, we are satisfied with the service that hotel 81 rendered us.

Short stay in a clean hotel”

It was a pleasant stay for me. I was in Singapore for business for the 10th time. I always book hotels with Agoda. I was never disappointed. Hotel 81 Palace is one of the many hotels of the 81 chain. All hotels of the 81 Hotel chain that I have stayed at were quite good and cheap. I have mistakenly booked -1 day. Front desk extended my booking by +1 day without any fuss. I will recommend this hotel to solo travelers/couples. However it is not suitable for families.

I booked Hotel 81 Palace mainly because of the good reviews it is getting from this site. That it's a clean and nice hotel and budget friendly. True to their words,hotel 81 palace is truly a nice place for those trying to find a budget-friendly but nice and clean accommodation in Singapore. The staff are friendly, though they can try to smile more. :) Also, the location is near the airport and just a few minutes walk to the Aljunied MRT station. Just be cautious though during the night since it is in red light district of SG.

Great Location and good shopping ”

This is the first time I checked in to Hotel 81 Palace and I like this hotel because of the location where food and shopping is everywhere. The front desk staff are very very friendly and there is free wifi all over the hotel in the lobby and in the room. I would recommend this hotel to my family and friends

We had fun on our 4d3n stay”

Our stay was perfectly fine. It's about 15min walk away from aljunied mrt and 10min walk to the neareast bus stop for Vivo City (sentosa). Lots of restaurants to dine in. It has convenient stores around the area. The area was near the red light district, however it's not scary as what you think. They only offer their service to those single man. If they saw you with a kid, family, gf, or wife they won't even bother you. The outside part of the hotel is quite. These are the following major concers: the room has 1 socket only!!! The shower was detaching from the hose which is not tight enough, wifi keeps on disconnecting every 10mins though it was fast, limited TV channels, and no slippers available. Nonetheless, we enjoyed our 4d3n Anniversary stay with Hotel 81 Palace. Still recommending this hotel to other lovely couples out there. Enjoy! :)

The 81 Palace is part of the successfull 81 Hotel chain. This is one of the best of the bunch. Rooms are very clean, and for such a low cost option, touches like commplimentary tea and coffee are nice. Location is excellent - great food all around the Geylang area, and easy to get to key locations such as Orchard Road

The hotel 81 palace is excellent valve for money; we requested a quiet room and got one! Orchard road is easy to get to by bus, just turn left when you leave the hotel, when at the end of the street turn left and cross over the road to the bus stop, take the number 7 bus - ticket cost 1.60 bargain!

the hotel is one of the many hotel 81s in singapore.. it is very cheap and quite close to the station.. the rooms are OK but they are really, really clean. do not expect 5 star amenities but if you are looking for really cheap but very clean, hotel 81 is it.

Not Bad”

This hotel is located in Geylang. It's the dirtiest area in Singapore...but even at that, it's pretty clean. The location is less than ideal (it's about a 7 minute walk from the nearest MRT station). Many of the streets you walk past to get to the hotel are in the red light district. But it's still extremely safe. Once you get inside, the staff are friendly and helpful. The room itself is very clean. The bathroom is pretty basic. There is no division between the shower and the toilet so everything gets wet when you take a shower. The hallways and rooms smell like cigarettes even though it's against the law to smoke inside hotels in Singapore. But since I'm a smoker, I didn't mind the smell. If you're looking for a budget hotel, it's the best deal around. Some of the best food is located just a few streets away.
