colonial romance with modern style”

i loved this hotel and only wished i had more time to spend in the hotel and/or were staying longer. the location is gorgeous. it's smack in the middle of fort canning park -- an oasis of peace in the heart of singapore and a much more interesting and historic location than on or near orchard road. the building itself was the old british administrative building so it's full of colonial grandeur, but it's been beautifully modernized updated so now it has state of the art technology in every room, plus a fantastically comfortable bed, the softest sheets and high style oozing from every well-designed corner, window and appliance. there is wireless internet in every room and if you don't feel like pulling out your own computer, you can surf the web/check email, etc. on the flat screen tv in your room. my bathroom, which was all glass and light with a beautiful soaking tub as well as a separate shower, had wonderful views, which were available from the bedroom as well since the bedroom/bathroom walls were glass (with electronically controlled curtains for privacy). i arrived very late and very dirty and the front desk greeted me as if i'd arrived mid-morning in a business suit and heels. try to save a little time to explore fort canning park if you can. it's a historic gem and a terrific change from business, shopping and the usual singapore activities.

i enjoyed my staycation at the hotel fort canning. it’s a walking distance from dhoby ghaut mrt. its direct as there are clear directional signage to guide me all the way to hotel lobby. when i first step in, i super like the feel and smell. quiet and clean hotel. approach the hotel reception to check-in and the customer service personnel is very polite and wears a smile at all times. i glance around and realise that all their staffs are very customer oriented. pretty fast done with the check-in, and their staff brought us up to our rooms. the room is exactly what i saw online (usually i will minus my expectation of 50% so that i know i won’t feel so cheated when i see the actual room) – best accommodation room amenities. the hotel uses hd tv screens and their programmes selection/internet can be selected using keyboard (provided) as well. i super love their bathtub and their monsoon rain showers. the receptionist even ring us up to send my husband a birthday cake. thumbs up for their thoughtfulness! had dinner at their restaurant (the glass house – asian dishes), the staffs are very polite and smiley, prompt service too. enjoyed the cosy atmosphere. breakfast was also served at the restaurant, not a huge variety but it’s enough to make you full. they also have daily special side order menu and the staffs will bring the menu to you and ask for your order. swimming pool doesn’t have the chlorine smell and very clean. overall pleasant experience with hotel fort canning.

Beyond expectation”

We are just back from Singapore and stayed 4 nights at the Fort Canning hotel. We have travelled a lot in Asia and most of the time we are not overly impressed by hotels around the $200 mark. Most of the time they don't meet their expectations. Too expensive for what they worth. But this time, we must admit that the hotel was well beyond our expectation. From the location, setting, staff friendliness and service. Everything was perfect. We can not comment on the breakfast because we did not take that option. We checked in late, around 1am and the gentleman at the reception went all his way to print out for us the best places he would recommended for dumplings and indian food. Our room was fitted with a nespresso machine and this was a nice welcome rather than a single kettle and some instant coffee. Our return flight was at 8pm and with a full day ahead of us in the heat and humidity, we really needed a shower before heading to the airport. The hotel gave us access free of charge to its shower facilities usually reserved to members. That was very well appreciated. Definitely one of the few hotels I will go back next time we are in Singapore.

Superb Oasis”

we had a 3 night stay at hotel fort canning and it was wonderful. we loved the stylish decor of the rooms, the high ceilings and pleasant outlook. we appreciated the in room wifi and general high tech sophistication on offer. the location is a peaceful oasis - an ideal escape from the busyness of singapore, yet is still convenient for shopping and generally getting around singapore. the complementary evening drinks and canapés were appreciated as were the generous breakfasts in the glass house. the two pools were divine - one for laps and one for relaxing. perfect to enjoy post an early morning walk in the adjacent fort canning park. we would love to return on our next visit to singapore.

Lovely botique hotel ”

this hotel is indeed a gem tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the city, nestled admist the flaura on fort canning hill. small botique hotel exudes an irresitable feel of comfort and serenity. perfect for stay-cations and getaways. price is pitched at a good level considering the decorations and amenities within the room, of course not forgetting its location. just love the spacious toilet! *but the hairdryer was placed in an akward place* overall the best hotel ive been to in singapore! will come again. p.s prepare $$ as you'll have to choose between a nice hike out of the hotel into civilisation (but i love how its secluded) or the hotel will be more than delightful to call in a cab for you, and that good sir, will cost you an extra $2.50. p.p.s oh, don't forget about the barrage of erp's and surcharges! p.p.p.s hey you party freaks! 50% on top of metered fare past 00:00. and clarke quay is considered city area, so.. more surcharges

Exceptional”

Perfect location: it is close to shopping area ( Orchard road), 10-15 minutes and you can get to City Hall, National museum and 5 minutes to mrt. But you still stay at the park -Fort Canning Park. Luxury, tidy, well equipped rooms with the perfect view to the park. Boutique hotel with lounge zones ( from 6 to 7 pm complimentary drink in lobby), 2 swimming pools among trees and tasteful breakfast ( what is not typical for Asia and Singapore). Worth money we paid! Without any doubts will recommend this hotel!

Great Boutique hotel”

recently enjoyed a great night at hotel fort canning. the hotels rooms although not huge (average size) are very comfortable and the bathrooms excellent and stylish. we took full advantage of the complimentary drinks and nibbles from 6-8p.m :) great buffet breakfast. excellent quiet location and only a 7 min walk to orchard road shopping and mrt. would definitely recommend for a relaxed get away or as great place to stay whilst visiting singapore

Nice hotel with beautiful scenery”

We had a good stay at Hotel fort canning. The hotel self is surrounded by a park, which makes you feel a little bit outside of everything which is good, however it is very centrally located and very close to the MRT station Dhoby Gaut, and the nice shopping mall Plaza Singapura where you can Eat a lot of nice food, although not fancy but more western fast food that they dont have in other southeast Asian countries. The staff was very proffessional and kinda stiff, but stll very friendly, they are doing their job. Although when we checked out we had to remind them that we had to get out deposit money back. Kind of an awkward situation, since the receptionist cleraly wanted to be done checking us out so we had to notify him that we would like t have our 100 sgd back. The room service food was not good, pricy, as it is in Singapore we wold think that the qualtiy of room service in a 5 star hotel would be really good, but no. Overall we had a good stay and might come back to stay there.

Boutique and unique”

the hfc is well located in fort canning park (you must walk it)a green oasis in a vibrant city. it is walking disatnce to orchard road or down through the park to clarke quay. rooms are of a high standard. the glass house offers a fresh and sufficiently varied breakfast experience with good service. the bar and on site italian restaurant are both excellent. the pools were clean and quiet. check-in and check out was "clunky" - service was perfunctory and interrupted. staff were polite but not especially personable. they could benefit from a more personalised and attentive approach. we requested a complimentary upgrade and this was provided and appreciated. the room (premier king deluxe 228) was well appointed, clean and boutique. we liked this unique hotel thatfor us was more approachable than larger corporate 4-5 star hotels. would definately return and recommend hfc to others.

Pleasant hotel”

Had a great stay at Hotel Fort Canning. Having lived in Singapore for several years, I did not even know this hotel existed, until we stumbled across it on Agoda. Staff were great, we arrived into Singapore after midnight and by the time we made it to the hotel it was past 1.30am, but had no problems checking in. The hotel itself is beautiful, surrounded by a lot of greenery. The only downside was that the room layout was very strange. A king size bed smack in the centre of a perfectly square room, with only about a meter walking space on each side of the bed. There was barely also any room for our suitcases. Probably ok for a solo traveller, but was quite restrictive for a couple.

Relaxing Business and pleasure trip to Singapote”

The stay was a surprise, as I have visited and lived in Singapore and never stayed at the Hotel Fort Canning before. The atmosphere, rooms, quite location, great facilities and easy location to CBD and Singapore CBD made it an enjoyable business and unwind trip for my wife and myself. The best thing was the staff and the team management was excellent. I have stayed at many hotels in Singapore and the staff were by far the most courteous helpful and friendly that i have experienced in any hotel in Singapore ( and I have stayed at most of the majors over the years!) They are to be congratulated.

Unique boutique hotel in garden oasis”

hfc is an approachable boutique 4 star hotel beautifully located in fort canning park - a green oasis in the orchard precinct. hotel lobby, bar, restaurants and rooms are all of a high standard and the makeover of this iconic building has been really well done. service could be more personal and attentive but was professional and accommodating. we stayed a total of 6 nights, separated by an excursion to malacca, and it seemed that the hotel staff didn't know us. nevertheless we would return to this hotel because we feel more comfortable in smaller, more intimate hotels and we feel that the service will no doubt improve as the young staff gain experience and are supported with continual attention to hospitality training.

A green oasis of style and comfort”

The front desk staff were most accommodating and changed my room when I discovered that there would be construction work right next door. The room was comfortable and well laid out with opening windows in the bathroom that had been built on a former balcony. The breakfast menu needs some work as at shortly after 9:00 the pancakes were rock hard, there was a limited selection of fruit but fresh omelettes were still available. It was included in the room price but I would have been furious if I had to pay for it. Thankfully, there was a Nespresso machine in the room but only two of those little milk thingies in the minibar fridge. It would be good if there had been an iron and ironing board in the room as standard as well as terry robes instead of cloth kimonos. But the location and style of the building is unbeatable. It is right in the middle of Fort Canning Park, a green oasis with a view to the high rise buildings that typify Singapore. There is Dhoby Ghaut MRT station just across the road as well as two large malls with abundant food resources. I'll definitely be back if the room rates don't become crazy.

Nice Hotel with history and great service”

The hotel is a historical building in Fort Canning used by British Army before. Even with such a long history the room is well-decorated with comfort and modern design. Staff are helpful and there's free flow of wines at 6pm-7pm which is really a chilled way for us to relax. The breakfast is exceptionally good which worths trying. Probably the only downside is its distance with MRT station but this isn't an issue to me and the Fort Canning Park nearby is also a good place to have a walk. We'd certainly make this our first choice hotel when we visit Singapore again next time.

Good hotel”

Girlfriend and I decided for a stay over at Hotel Fort Canning after looking for a night away for our anniversary at a hotel in Singapore. Over the internet, the rooms looked good and prices were acceptable. The room did not disappoint. Design was generally good and we liked the bathroom by the window concept. Natural lighting gives the room a nice look in the day time but should you choose to keep it dark there is a partition that you can lower as well. Evening drinks were a nice touch; as guests lingered around the hotel lobby area and free flow of wine and finger food is served. Small hotel, very cosy feel with the other hotel guests around; felt like a small group of people living in a big house. Location wise not too bad as well. It's a short 10 minute walk to Dhoby Ghaut MRT but otherwise have to call for a cab; there are no cabs passing through. Cons: Walls are not entirely soundproof. Adjacent or across to our room, there was a bunch of younger kids having a night out in the hotel and we could hear them through our walls. This was even at 1-2 am Bathroom - well designed but the shower area has sub-par drainage. Water tends to flow out very slowly so you're ankle deep in water sometimes. They built an elevated platform with the drainage around it but it doesn't drain quite as fast. Well, generally it was really quite a good stay. If they can fix the bathroom drainage it would be next to perfect. Thanks for the wonderful stay. I had a good time

BEAUTIFULLY AMAZING”

I needed a break from work so we decided to have a staycation at Hotel Fort Canning. Its 5minutes walk away from DhobyGhaut mrt but the climb uphill is such a torture. if you've got baggage, grab a cab. but once you're in the hotel, it takes your breath away! simple but beautifully decorated with relics of old singapore. we got a deluxe room and we expected a small room like all the other 5 star hotels, but this room is AMAZING. the pretty huge bathtub is next to your bed so its very romantic. and the bed is one of the most comfortable i've ever slept on. we didn't really have a nice view but most of the time we had the curtains shut. all in all its a great place for a vacation.

Charming seclusion in a central location”

I recently stayed in Singapore for work for 3 months, and stayed in a total of 15 hotels. This was by far the most enjoyable of the lot. Fort Canning is a great location - you can walk to many desirable areas - otherwise the hotel will order you a taxi to wherever you like. Allow additional time if it's raining. The restaurants are fantastic - you should definitely try Lewin Terrace for a romantic evening meal. Compared to most other hotels in Singapore, this one is spacious, generous and set in a beautiful leafy location. It's a hidden gem.

Engulfed in nature within the city district”

The 2D1N staycation in celebration of my partner's birthday was well-spent with Hotel Fort Canning. The duration of this excellent service begins the moment we checked-in at the lobby and extends throughout the stay except for a short period of time where one of the waitress in The Glass House was relatively unfriendly. Perhaps it was the well-received services from other staffs that made her dull, emotionless greeting and her manly gesture that made the evening dinner seems rather disturbed. Otherwise, it has to be because we were the first few people in the very spacious restaurant. Fortunately, she was fast replaced with a very well-mannered waiter when the crowd started coming in. The hotel is newly furnished and all their facilities were very impressive. Although there were some technical fault on their television signal that night, we were compensated with a 2 hours delayed check out as a form of kind gesture. This kind of simple gesture could have been neglected by many other hotels, but in HFC, it turns out to be something necessary to answer to all the affected guests. Overall, the stay was a pleasant, delightful and memorable one. Once again, the service standard that we received from majority (99%) of the hotel staffs in HFC are thus far, the most superior. And this can be the triggering reason for your stay apart from its distinctive feature of being a natural gem within a busy city district.

Silent location in the middle of Boomtown”

it is an excellent place to stay. you are located in the quiet park of fort canning and the action is only a few minutes away. the next mrt station, orchard road or clarke's quay are in walking distance. the room equipment is state of the art, one button for each function, even if located in an historical building. bathroom is very comfortable with shower and bath tub and a nice view to downtown. the hotel team is very helpful also if you are coming with specific questions. one little negative remark, one of the 2 restaurants is not part of the hotel, so you can't charge at the room account.
