Fabulous”
The customer service at the hotel was outstanding. The room was beautiful and we loved the traditional Japanese touches, such as the in-room soaking tub. Our beds were so comfortable and inviting. We traveled with our children ages 9 and 7 and the staff made up extra beds for them while we were getting dinner. The hotel was very quiet, yet a convenient walk from Kyoto Station and also walking distance from many of the Kyoto sights. We only had one night in Kyoto but wished we had planned to stay longer. I very rarely say this, but if I return to Kyoto I would absolutely stay at Hotel Kanra Kyoto again.

Best Hotel In Kyoto”
My wife and I came here on the second part of our honeymoon (from Tokyo) and was immediately blown away by the kindness of the staff and the beauty of the hotel. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and the room was amazing. Money well spent! Many of the destinations in Kyoto are very spread out so I wouldn’t worry too much about going back and forth to Kyoto station as we relied on the local buss for the majority of our time in Kyoto, which like the subway, is great. If we come back to Kyoto I will definitely be staying here again. Thank you Kanra Kyoto for the wedding gift as well!

Extremely friendly, helpful and efficient service staff. The staff went beyond expectations and it made our stay memorable. All of our service requests were met in timely manner. Beautiful and comfortable room with large living space. Great location too! Within walking distance to kyoto station.

Favorite hotel in Kyoto”
Pros: This hotel is simply beautiful. It’s modern yet very Japanese in style. The breakfasts are great. We have eaten lunch & dinner at Kanra Kitchen & dinner at the teppanyaki restaurant & the food is excellent. The service is exceptional. The gifts for sale in the lobby excellent for gifts & yourself. I am always buying items there. The hotel & service is all very well done. It is also a short 10 minute walk from Kyoto Station. Cons: no laundry machines

The hotel is comfortable and welcoming. The room well appointed. We all loved the shower room & mix of modern and traditional elements. What made the hotel exceptional however was the staff. Everyone we encountered from front desk to dining / bar to housekeeping went above and beyond.

Modern Ryokan that is well run and beautiful. The front desk all serve as concierge as well with excellent recommendations. The breakfast is one of the best meals we had in Japan. Take the tour with Sakura. She makes you feel like you are touring with a family member.

A great week in Kyoto”
We booked a room in the annex which was spacious , with Japanese and modern touches and very nicely furnished. The bed was large (two queens put together) and an additional queen sized futon for our daughter, with room left for the sitting areas. Wooden Japanese bath was nice and we enjoyed daily breakfast at the Kanra Kitchen, which coincidentally has great pizzas and pastas. We loved the four cheese with honey. A must try!

A Fantastic Hotel”
Had a 4 night stay here and it was perfect. Located blocks from the train station and across a small street from a huge Buddhist temple. Traditional Japanese rooms but a bit bigger. Amazingly helpful staff. They called and walked us out to taxis, and recommended great restaurants. Peaceful and serene. This was easily the best hotel we stayed in during our 3 weeks in Japan. Highly recommended.

Unique a fabulous blend of traditional and modern”
The main reason to stay here is to get a room in the annex building and one of the designer, luxury or executive suites. The design was absolutely stunning with paper window shades to defuse natural light , fusion traditional sitting area for two people, and a very comfortable bed. Staff was very gracious and the bathroom and rub are also Impressively designed. About 20 to 30 minute walk from downtown Kyoto, was very close to the train station. If being in the middle of the action is for you you should stay somewhere else. But if you want unique high-end, one of a kind luxury accommodations definitely book one of the luxury, or deluxe rooms in the annex building. We didn't want to leave

Stylish hotel...great location close to Gion restaurants. Room modern and good size for family of 4. Above all staff super helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely return when visiting Kyoto again and recommend to friends also.

Room is spacious and clean, but not worth the price tag. Five star room rate but this hotel is 4 star at best. Amenities include an overpriced spa but NO gym. Service was good, but staff are pretty clueless if you ask them for advice on good eating places etc.
