Location was excellent, hotel is very near Hankyu Karasuma train station exit #19, approximately 95 metres (either by staircase, or the escalator near Mizuho if you have luggages to carry). Situated along the main stretch of shopping centres, very near Nishiki Market, and has a good ramen shop just outside the hotel (serves excellent tsukemen)! Hotel has laundry machines (pay 200 yen for a 5kg load washer and/or 100 yen for 30 mins in the dryer), ice dispensing machine, and a smoker's room. Really love the hotel room! It uses space saving concept (the foldable table and chair) but not much space to hang your clothes (can hang about 3 pieces at max). Bathroom has a slight smell coming from probably the piping in bathtub but tolerable. Overall really love the room design concept, location and friendly staff at reception. Excellent hotel, value for money.

We loved being right next to Nishiki markets. Everything was so easy to get to this place. Our room was lovely and clean and perfectly spacious! We couldn’t recommend this place enough. We spent a lot of time exploring the Nishiki markets and there are beautiful boutique shops and lovely department stores in the area. Much better to stay here than Gion which seems quite crowded and touristy.

Staff were helpful, hotel is near bus and train stations, near shopping areas, can walk going to Gion. Room was small as expected, but just enough since this is the standard in Japan. Beware that in Kyoto, you have to pay tax before check-in, which is not included in Agoda booking fee. 2 bottled waters were provided upon check-in. Room was clean. Overall, it is a great value for money.

Budget hotel in Awesome location”
Was staying in Hotel M's Est Shijo Karasuma in Kyoto from 13-16 Jan 2020. The location is simply awesome, like 3 min walk from the 2 nearest stations, Shijo and Karasuma station & 7 mins walk to Nishiki Market. Juz so u know, there’re plenty of nice restaurants or eateries in the surrounding area. The room although small (Norm is Japan), is designed rather cozy & look pretty new too (maybe gd maintenance). I like the fact that there’re hangers in the room for us to hang clothes (which is not always available in many hotels). The bed was fine, I requested for lower pillows & my request was acceded. The AC / heater system was also working perfectly. The room was always kept clean and tidy. The staff were friendly & helpful too. The WiFi is fine too, totally no problem surfing Youtube @ all, even in the showers. Ultimately, I think this is still a gd hotel for those on a short sojourn & is looking for convenience in locations. Wld definitely come back here if I return to Kyoto!

It was conveniently located near Nishiki Market, bus stops and train station. The room was very cosy and clean. Best part of the hotel was that the toilet was big as compared to other hotels in Japan.

The hotel is nearby to both Shijio and Karasuma station which makes it super convenient to travel around. There are a lot of shops nearby and plenty of convenience store as well. It is also within walking distance to Nishiki Market. Overall, everything is great.

Location is perfect for us. Just a short walk to the Karasuma and Shijo stations. Great area for shopping and restaurant nearby. A quick walk to Nishiki market. Not so far from Gion area. We are so delighted to have our two nights stay here.

Small room but complete amenities, perfect location”
The room may be small, but just the right size for a solo traveler like me. Full amenities are provided. Staff was helpful during check in and check out. The location is perfect. It’s very near the bus stop (shijo takakura) and the subway station. Lots of food option near the hotel and moreso across the street.

Pretty good for kyoto”
Overall a good experience. Our standard room had a window that opened, a big plus. Room was very small, but the layout made good use of the space. Shower pressure and hot water were great! Room had a few long black hairs on our comforter and our decorative bed footer throw thing was stained, which put us off a bit on first impression, but oh well. Hotel has an ice machine on main floor—nice! Great location within a minute of a useful bus stop and subway station. Cool neighborhood. Staff was nice. I would stay again for sure.
