Best for transit & visiting the capital”

EXPERIENCE SUMMARY: We were on our first honeymoon and were staying overnight at Octave at the island capital of Male before our transit to our destination at another resort island. Sadly, due to miscommunication we did not expect the hotel staff to greet us upon landing and we booked our own dhoni (ferry) trip and went straight to the hotel. Upon arriving at the hotel only then we found out they wanted to contact us to inform about their staff fetching us from the airport. But fortunately, the friendly staff arrange a free room upgrade for all our trouble. Then, the next morning we were sent to the airport (ride + ferry) as arranged and covered by the hotel. Overall we enjoyed our stay and will return to Octave when we're coming back to visit Maldives. PROS: 1. Superb service by the staff (from the reception, drivers, room service, restaurant) 2. Located in the heart of Male, you can practically travel on foot to nearby shops or attractions (ask for a map and recommendation from reception) 3. Consider good value for money, as one of the package include taxi and transit could save you the hassle of booking your own taxi and ferry. CONS: 1. If this is your first time to Maldives please take note that Maldives consist of multiple islands (e.g. Airport at one island, Octave is on another island) so it could be tiring for travellers from long-haul flight. You will need to buy tickets to use the dhoni (ferry) to go from the airport island to the capital island, then at the capital you will need to get a taxi. So my suggestion is to book the package which include taxi transit (inclusive of the ferry ride).

Pleasant Surprise & Top notch Quality!”

Extremely pleased with the quality service they have provided for us. Very happy to stay in this hotel for a short stay before heading to Reethi Faru Resort. Upon arrival at Male Airport late in the night, we were immediately greeted by the staff from Hotel Octave Maldive and everything has been arrange beyond expectations and well organised, our luggage were handled properly and we head straight back to hotel from the airport (no waiting period - unlike other hotels). The trip back to hotel was around 15mins, the staff explained to us how is it like in Male and it's rich culture and experiences. Very happy to hear more about it. After which upon reaching the hotel, we were greeted by other staffs and also with a cool refreshing ice fruit tea. We were then guided to our room fast and easy. When we enter, our room were already ready for us to use, the air con and lighting has been turned on for us. We totally enjoyed and felt safe and comfortable. We were extremely happy to stay here!

Most attentive and welcoming staff”

The greatest advantage of this property is the staff. They are competent, attentive, genuinely kind and welcoming. First was the airport meet. Unlike 4 other hotels which offered airport pickup, Hotel Octave actually had someone waiting for me when I arrived. The transfer was quick and efficient. The hotel itself is located in the middle of Male city convenient both for the airport and the port. The rooms are very clean and everything was spotless and in working order. Internet fast and reliable. The bed had a memory foam mattress which was very comfortable. The air conditioning was very quiet and efficient. It doesn’t blow directly on you when you are in bed which is the case at some other hotels where I stayed. Power adapters were provided in the room. The room itself simple and not large by western standards. But rooms in Male are probably the smallest in the world, so from that perspective it was a decent size. Breakfast wasn’t memorable but sufficient to get started in the morning

Value for money with free airport transfer”

A hotel representative will be waiting at the Arrival Hall, holding a card stating Hotel Octave. Transport to the hotel (somewhere in the middle of male City) is completely taken care of - including the ferry ride & car ride to hotel. We were welcomed with a cold drink and refreshing towel once we entered the hotel. It was nearly 11.30 p.m. by the time we check-in as our flight was delayed. It was also really nice of the hotel to upgrade us for free to a bigger room. Clean rooms. Breakfast in the morning at their cafe was great. After breakfast, we explored around Male for 1.5 hrs before the hotel sent us back to the airport to catch our speedboat to our Maldives resort. Will definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who is arriving to Male on an evening flight and is staying overnight at the city.

2nd time in Octave and I ENJOYED EVERY BIT OF IT”

This is our second time back in Hotel Octave to conclude our Maldives trip. After the first stay, we decided to return back to this hotel and they are amazing. Everyone of the staff are great. We are lucky to get upgraded into a suite which has a kitchenette, a sitting room and a separate bedroom. We still get the same welcome treatment at the best. The rooms are very cleaned and the room service is good too. A good selection of choices and the inculsive breakfast is simple but good for us. We had the airport transfer and the staff are so flexible with our change of flight departures and still sent us out to the ferry terminal early in the morning on a last minute notice. I will definitely recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Male. Thank you Hotel Octave! We are happy guests!

Great little hotel in Male”

I was surprised to find the hotel smaller than i expected. I have been to 7 hotels in Male and i understand the dearth for space still I thought it was bigger in the photos. BUT thats where the disappointment ends, the staff is great and works hard. Ask them to orient you as to where you are located. Theyll give you a print out map. The hotel is a couple of blocks from Male's main thoroughfare, Kameenee Magu. from here, you can walk along the busy commercial street all the way to the Artificial Beach, the city hall, the Tsunami and Tripods monument...or you the other way and walk yo the Presidential Jetty, Sultans Park, Friday Mosque and the Fish Market and National Museum. If youre too lazy for a walk, take a taxi which has a fixed rate or 2 dollars or, if you have rufiyaas in your pocket, 25 Rf. Breakfast is served 7 to 10 and you order from a set menu. 2 choices only though. I booked 2 standard rooms but one of it was upgraded to a deluxe which actually had 2 separate rooms. Good sized and very clean bathrooms. Great wifi signal even at 5th floor. A lift thats a bit tight for 5 but serviceable. And they met us at the airport. If you email them, they will briskly reply unlike when the more popular Somerset hotel which replies to nobody - considering they have a LOT of staff working at the front desk. I would choose for a more modest hotel like Octave anytime over Somerset, and this isn't even about the cost but about service.

Comfortable stay”

We wanted to stay in Male so we could experience a little bit of city life in Maldives before transferring to our resort. Hotel Octave provided free airport transfer and their representative was there waiting for us. After and short ferry and taxi ride we were greeted with a welcome drink at checking. The room was very comfortable with a flat screen tv, strong air conditioner and good wifi. The only downside was there weren't very responsive to email before arrival, but luckily all arrangements weren't handled well.

Perfect for a stop over”

We flew into Male at 2am and needed a place to stay before we flew out to our island (Reethi Beach). We decided to go with Octave as it had good reviews and we were not disappointed. There was a staff member waiting for us at the airport when we arrived. You need to get a ferry from the airport (10 mins) to male. There was another staff member there waiting with a car to drive us to the hotel. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Clean and comfortable rooms. Would definitely stay again if we come back to the Maldives. Perfect for a stop over!

A great place to stay in Male!”

The staff were very accommodating, the room was lovely, the breakfast was simple yet delicious. I really loved everything about my stay. The only issue is that one night there was some construction near by that was quite loud in the middle of the night. However, it was not at the hotel itself, and I don't think there is really anything that could be done about it. I spoke to the staff about it in the morning, and they said that construction work on the island usually happens at night and in the off-season to help minimize disrupting people going about their daily routines. I was there during the rainy season, and the construction took place during an evening respite from the rain, so I get that. Again, it wasn't really something the hotel could have done much about. Staying in Male gives you a real opportunity to see what life is like in the Maldives. I was able to get my hair cut at a local salon, and I got glasses made as well. Male is not a resort destination really. Having said that, the room I had was MORE than adequate. It included not only a bathroom and bedroom, but also a living room area, and even a small kitchen. It was a great value. I strongly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in Male (rather than on one of the resort islands). You can see the museums that the capital city has to offer, as well as the Friday Mosque. You can feel more like a world traveler than a tourist. And you can save a TON of money!!! Enjoy!!!

Great service but small rooms”

We only had on overnight stay in Male as we arrived too late to transfer directly to our island. I went for the Hotel Octave because of the good reviews, the reasonable price and the convenience of the airport transfer. Once we cleared customs a representative was there to meet us at the airport as they promised, he promptly helped us with our luggage and directed us to the ferry pier where he told us they upgraded us to the speedboat which would take us a couple of minutes to arrive in Male. Once we arrived in Male they quickly transferred us to a car and made our way to the hotel. On arrival at the hotel we were given a refreshing cold towel and a welcome drink, both were a welcome relief. We were then shown to our room which was quite small but clean. We asked if there was an ATM close by and they told us when we were ready they would get one of their staff to take us to the ATM which was a couple of minutes walk away. As promised they got one of their staff to escort us to the ATM, very good service. The location is only a few minutes walk from the main street but there didn't seem to be much to do once it was dark, we found it difficult to find many eateries (there is a restaurant in the hotel but we wanted to try to find something outside) and there were no shops open. Breakfast was a little dissappointing. I was keen to try the local breakfast but when I asked what the 3 different local breakfasts consisted of I was told they were all fish dishes (he couldn't really describe the difference between the 3 dishes, it would probably be a good idea to give a description in the menu) and I wasn't that keen on fish for breakfast so I went for the western style which consisted of toast, chicken sausage (which looked like canned sausages), eggs and tea/coffee. Check out was smooth and they provided a transfer back to the airport (I thought only a one way transfer was included in the rate so this was a bonus). I would recommend the Hotel Octave in

Great service”

arrived male airport around 10pm and was greeted by a staff from octave hotel. he promply escorted me to the jetty and took a 10 mins boat ride to male city. throughout the short journey, we spoke about the city, life in maldvies and the all that i need to know in my short stay here. upon reaching the city, i was driven to the hotel in a 5 min journey thru the small lanes of the city. upon reaching the hotel, another staff handled my check in with a welcome drink and within minutes, i was done with the check in and ready to rest for the night before my early morning seaplane transfer to the resort im staying. the walkway to the rooms are small, the rooms are small but extremely clean and functional. you will have most amenities needed, the staff would patiently explain everything you need to know about the room. the overnight stay was generally pleasant and the next morning they even specially made me a simple breakfast meal despite it being 5.30 in the morning. was brought to the airport again the next morning via ferry and the transfer to the seaplane terminal was seamless and fuss free. i'd recommend this to anyone looking for a reasonable night stay while waiting for the next mornings' seaplane transfer. extremely friendly staff and the only downside (if i have to be nit picking), would be the size of the rooms. however, common sense kicks in when you consider the size of the male city itself and you'll understand why all hotels here are roughly of the same size.

a great place to stay on your way through Male”

Hotel Octave Maldives is a great place to stay on your way through Male. The staff is helpful, the rooms are new, clean and very comfortable, the price is reasonable, and the location is great. They provided us with the baby cot and free airport transfer. Lovely in-room dinner (best ever mango lassie) and nice breakfast in the morning.

Excellent for the price”

Chose hotel for a two night stay following beach holiday at a Maldives resort. Probably all you need to see the other side of the Maldives but definitely worth it. The Hotel is basic but good value with airport transfers included. Didn't eat in except for breakfast which was best described as OK. Staff helpful with what to do in Male and finding restaurants. Male seen from the air is like a city rising from the Sea - completely built over, a working city rather than a tourist attraction but good, quite cheap, shopping available. To visit: national museum interesting in a very impressive building but the adjacent garden was dirty with lots of litter; market and fish market which had big fish on sale even at midday; the very cheap ferry to adjacent island of Villingilli gives opportunity for beach activities - the locals were having reasonable surfing experience - but take insect repellant.

A night in octave ”

My husband and I were on our honeymoon, and since we had a night flight, a short stay was all we needed. Octave was exactly what we wanted. Although their staff were a little late picking us up from the airport, everything else went smoothly. The driver was very friendly and even gave us a quick introduction to the city. A special thanks to the front desk staff (Mr Shameen) who even arranged for us to visit a souvenir shop before normal opening hours (too expensive though). We highly recommend Hotel Octave and will return when we visit maldives next time.

Nice small hotel”

We stayed at the Hotel Octave just one night, Oct. 2, 2012. It is very nice hotel. When we arrived in Male Airport we had free transfer to the hotel by ferry and taxi. The next day the hotel has arranged free transfer to Villingini Ferry Terminal. Staff is friendly and kind to residents of the hotel. The breakfast was good. I recommend this hotel for people who travel to Maldives.

Perfect for our short stop in Male”

We stayed at Hotel Octave for one night waiting for the next day ferry out of Male. The staff was very efficient and escorted us from the airport to our room. Room service was very reasonably priced, fast, and good quality. Wifi worked well in our room. The bed was most comfortable we've had in our 4 months of traveling. The included breakfast was good. We would stay here again if we had another short stop in Male.

Small but comfy”

The hotel representative was not there to meet us at the airport as they promised, however other hotel representatives at the airport helped us get in contact with Octave. We met the Octave representative ferry pier in Male after taking the ferry across ourselves. He transferred us to a car and made our way to the hotel. Our room was small but clean and comfortable which is what we were after. The restaurant at the hotel is very good, especially the nasi goreng and complimentary chips They provided a transfer back to the airport after check out which was complimentary.

Most affordable and fully furnished”

Booked room with kitchenette. Full amenities (washing machine, microwave oven, Gas cooking stove, sofa, 1 queen bed and 1 single bed in separate room) with the price of budget hotel in Male. Excellent service pickup from airport attended by hotel very nice personnel (Mr Ismail if not mistaken). Preferred hotel if visiting with children. Located at the heart of Male City. Breakfast is good considering food is not cheap around Male.

Great budget hotel for a layover”

My wife and I stayed in Hotel Octave during our layover between international and domestic flights. The hotel was highly rated online and fit our budget. It turned out to be a great choice. All of the hotel staff were friendly and spoke very good English. The room was nicely decorated, and the bed was comfortable. There was free wi-fi on every floor, which was a nice plus. The door to door service to and from the airport was also a big help as it was our first time visiting the Maldives. Overall it was a great budget hotel. If we ever have another layover in Male, we will stay there again.
