The hotel was grat, especially at the price.”

Hotel Ra Kuun was great, and I would highly recommend it. There are a few things to keep in mind. First, it's a long bus ride from Hakone Yumoto or Odawara (but pretty much everything is). BUt it's only a short 5 minute walk from the bus stop. Make sure to get the Hakone Free pass on arrival in this area. Buses are not cheap. Second, there are few to no restaurants in the area, so either order dinner and breakfast or bring food. We just brought food, so I have no opinion on Ra Kuun's food. Their onsen (hot spring) is great. The inside onsen was a bit too hot, but the outside onsen was a great temperature. It was surrounded by nature and you can see the stars at night. Wifi is available in the lobby and the rooms close by. So keep that in mind. It didn't bother me, but it might bother others. All in all, a great place. Not super fancy, but it accomplishes everything you need at a great price.

2 nights stay in Hotel Ra Kuun”

A pleasant stay in Hotel Ra Kuun. But its location is abit far from Hakone Yumoto station. Good thing that we took a cab to Hotel Ra Kuun when we reached Hakone Yumoto at 7pm plus. Though cab fare is 5624 yen, it was worthwhile. We had 2 big luggages. Imagine we took the H-line bus, it was too tired to bring them on/off the bus and about 7 minutes walk to Hotel Ra Kuun after we alighted from its nearest H-line bus stop.

Great experience ”

Such a nice hotel. The room is big and clean. Our room view is Mountain View and a bit of Ashi Lake. It’s really nice in the morning. The onsen is good. Good location, u just have to walk a few mins to find out the hotel from the bus stop. Nice breakfast. U can experience a bit of everything with a good price.

Good and safety”

A little bit far from bus stop but we can walk about 5 min. Easy to find from Bus line-W, Bus driver can suggest the location of hotel. There're hot spring, we can use free of charge. The room is clean and comfortable. Breakfast isn't include, hotel is charge about 600Yen.

Not a good choice...”

Location was far from Yumoto Station, bus ride on H line takes 45 mins and bus ceased operations around 8pm, it was very dark and quiet to walk back to hotel which is down slope about 8 mins away. It is near to Moto-Hakone if you are taking the cruise. Room size is adequate but lightings are very dim and one of the lights not working. Breakfast not included and dinner requires reservation 1 day before arrival. Have to pack breakfast and dinner in advance. Photo looks cosy but in actual fact, hotel looks run down. Not value for money as I can get much better hotels in Tokyo for the price paid.

Surprise Dinner”

Hotel location is just along the main road. If you are using iPhone 6 map, they will show two hotels with same name. The correct one is one the main road. Room is a super olden Japanese style room. You can also find the old 60's air-conditioning there "Antique". Spa is very small, don't expect anything special. We are surprise by the dinner provided, quite ok for this room rate.

Good place to experience Hakone”

It is a mid-range hotel and the reason of choosing it came from their offer of onsen. It was a good place to experience bits of everything. The check-in was smooth and the Japanes-style room was very clean. Perhaps the language barrier, the hotel manager did not seem to be that friendly.

nice hotel but pretty far from bus station , about ( 10-15 minutes) walk , but got a nice view from the room and friendly staff

Good service in cheap price”

the location is quite inconvenient but the hotel staff is helpful to give direction and serve everything I need. Even though I l left my glasses at the hot spring area, they keep it and give back to me once I ask that. My room is in Japanese style and it is comfy enough for me. The only disadvantage for this room is the toilet is too small to me. Barely bath in there.

descent yet not ideal for international tourists”

The hotel has some good qualities like the friendly and helpful staff and I enjoyed the Japanese style sleeping. Yet the AC remote control was in Japanese and the night receptionist didn't speak English to help us so it took me 2 hours of googling to turn the AC on. The breakfast was below standard which is too bad because you can't just walk to a close café to get your day started. Make sure you book your dinner in advance we didn't and we were lucky to find a restaurant open in town after 6 pm

Great location but has a bit of down side”

Good location, easy to get to the main attractions but the bus stop is a bit of a walk away. Aside from that the walls were paper thin. We can hear everything from every side which wasn’t ideal. But the staff are amazing and so friendly and helpful

Above average”

The hotel is quite far away from anywhere. I would suggest that the hotel think about running a free shuttle so that guests can stay at the hotel and not feel like they're trapped there. The western beds were really hard, had such a bad nights sleep that made the next day really difficult to enjoy. Only redeeming quality is the public baths, very relaxing!

The room is very clean. The onsen is wonderful. However the location is difficult to access if not going by car

very nice stay and really enjoy the hit spring. The only bad side is the location, the nearest bus station is situated 10 mins from hotel and no convenient shop/restaurant nearby.

location is not very well, and the staff is cold. hot spring is super hot, not very comfortable. price is ok, but next time we wont choose it again.

Suitable for one night stay over ”

Do not expect much from this hotel. Toilet together with the bath area is very very small. You can even turn around properly in the bath area. The scenic view outside the window is still fine and you can see Lake Ashi. You have to travel there with a car as it is up on the hill and I don't think there are any public transport area.

sweet place to live”

10 mins walk to the bus stop. good transportations if having the FREE PASS. take the bus and we could go to everywhere. the lake view is beautiful and the hot spring is comfortable. sweet memories

Brutal”

Out of all the Hotels I have stayed at in Japan, this has to be the worst. It is run down and breakfast is way overpriced. Although the hotel looks like it is nice in the pictures it is misleading. It is about a 10 min walk from the bus stop. We were told from the front desk that dinner at the Italian eatery was open until 8, in fact all restaurants were closed at 5 except for the 7/11. If I were to return I would upgrade to a higher grade hotel. Can't beat the beauty of lake ashi
