Good overnight base”
We used this place as an overnight stop before heading for Kapas island. From that point of view it proved very satisfactory. There are more budget orientated places in the area but for people seeking lower midrange Seri Marang is easily the closest to the departure pier being a 12 minute stroll, at least half of which is gently downhill thru a tree-shaded riverside park. There are no up-slopes. The hotel is about 20+ minutes/rm30+ (depending on point of taxi pickup) from Kuala Terengganu - 35m/rm50 from the airport. You may be able to negotiate lower taxi fares and a public bus from town will be able to get you to the junction of the highway and Marang's shopping steet within 15 minutes walk of the hotel for peanuts. Our spotless standard twin room was spacious as was the bathroom. There was no balcony. It had a LCD tv with a good selection of programs, refrig, jug, quiet air. The whole place was quiet apart from the amplified call to prayers from the town’s mosque. The beds were very comfy. The spacious restaurant had a good selection of food in all price ranges and the budget stuff tasted pretty good. The inclusive buffet breakfast was orientated to Asian tastes with no egg station, but I’m a big fan of those hard boiled eggs the locals love and there was plenty of other tasty stuff. Staff was efficient and friendly. Many had good English skills. While value can’t match the competition-led prices of KL hotels we thought it was fair for a regional beach place. The small pool area looked pretty clean. There was access across the river about 5 minutes walk south to the local beach. Plenty of people do Kapas island as a daytrip - cheapest ferry access is only rm15 each way and takes less than 30 minutes. This is a small island and all its accessible beaches can be walked in 40 minutes. There is very good snorkeling by Asian standards, particularly off the 2 northern beaches.

good place for a quick stopover”
hotel seri malaysia marang is located conveniently close to the marang jetty if u r planning a trip to pulau kapas. sleepover for the night before hopping on the boat the next morning. rooms a bit dated, but still comfortable enough for a good night's sleep.

Pleasant Hotel”
The hotel is located a couple minutes walk from the centre of Marang. Check in was fast and easy. In some respects the room is perhaps showing its age, but despite this is quite comfortable. Fresh water and tea/coffee was provided daily. The water is only a few minutes walk to the jetty from where you catch the boat to Kapas island and is in the lovely quiet village of Marang. The hotel is across the road from the estuary, and crossing that waterway you find yourself on the beach which is very pleasant and definately under rated. The hotel pool was very clean. During my stay the kitchen was being renovated and breakfast was not available. I will definately stay at this hotel again.

Refurbished rooms”
I booked this hotel on a last minute arrangement. Decided to extend our stay for one more night around 8.00pm & Hotel Sri M'sia Marang was available & only 4km away from where we were. In less than one hour (from booking time), we (7 adults & 3 kids, together with my elderly parents) were all checked in. The receptionist on night duty was very accomodating & helpful. The 3 Family Suite that we got was spacious, though the washrooms were a bit tight but had all the basic necessities (wash basin, sitting toilet bowl, hot shower & retractable cloth line) & refurbished (new tiles on wall & floor). Other than some concerns on the availability of hot drinking water (water flask/boiler in room not working & receptionist on morning duty not helpful), our short stay here was satisfactory. With this experience in Marang, we might consider other Hotel Seri M'sia for our next visit ;)

Pros: -Very friendly staffs and receptionist. -Location in Bndar Marang with 1-2 minutes drive to shops, banks. -Low occupancy in some of the days, so you feel more privacy within the hotel. -Good pricing. Cons: -It needs more maintenance works inside and outside which hopefully would improve the hotel occupancy. -Average cleanliness.

The best of Maranh”
Kg paya beach is the nearest place from the HSM.. the view is remarkable.. there's a food court there with the cheap price for the food.. and, if you want some western food, KFC n PizzaHut juz 3 minutes from HSM.. Have anice trip!

Dissapointing location”
It was a good hotel but if you are booking this hotel becacuse of the location close to Kapas Island you might be a bit dissapointed. Marang is a local city and it is nothing to do. And the hotel is 15 minutes walking to the jetty to take the ferry to Kapas Island

Convenient stopover hotel, for heading to Islands”
the hotel is conveniently near the marang jetty terminal. walking distance in fact. great for gem island or pulau kapas visits. basic rooms, with ok showers. very nice walking trail by the river, just in front of the hotel. limited restaurant menu, nothing exciting there. mosquitoes are around in abundance - beware. staff are cooperative and helpful enough.

Exceptional Manager!”
We arrived by bicycle and our luggage sent by cab had not arrived. The manager of the hotel got involved and sorted it out quickly, discovering they had been delivered to another one of their hotels (dishonest taxi driver charged us for 70kms but brought bags to the nearest hotel of same chain 30kms away from where we started). The manager invited us (4 of us) for drinks while another taxi delivered the bags, then invited us for dinner as well! Throughout our stay the manager was very attentive to our needs and helped wherever he could as not all the staff spoke English. The alacarte dinner on the second night in the restaurant was a little disappointing as all meals were delivered 30 minutes apart, with appetisers and mains all coming in random order and half the orders were wrong. We were there for hours. Rooms were comfy, hotel was comfy, good location, alternative food options in the area... We left happy!

5-10 mins walk to Marang jetty. Nice view from the top. Room condition reasonably ok based on pricing. A good place to stop overnight before going to Kapas Island.

Good Cheap Hotel”
On top of a small hill, overlooking Marang's beachline that's good (if you're at high floors). Hotel not too packed so okay for private stay. Food is great tasting. Furniture looks old but not annoyance to us as price vs value still ok. Probably we came with low expectation but it felt okay infact we add one more night.

Just a night, no toileties and checked in by waiting outside room due yet to clean the room”
Luckily we brought own toileties and bath soap. Checked in but later occupied us to another room. No breakfast provided and room full with mosquitoes. Mosquitoes came out from toilet drain. Enjoy the marang beach instead of the mini swimming pool inside the hotel.

Not a bad hotel with the price you get”
a good hotel, but if you really need elevators then this isnt hotel for you perhaps. service is good, except for the malfunction aircond remote. while they do have tv, the broadcast isnt really clear and barely watchable. we also experienced low pressure hot water. still, i do have a good stay over there.

Great Location but outdated rooms”
strong point: staff was very helpful. a good customer service. ample parking space. near to pulau kapas jetty and lkim jetty for water activity. near to kuala trengganu 15km. need to improve: old style bedroom and very smelly. point should be taken by agoda: we paid rm140 without breakfast by agoda, when at the hotel entrance, standard room with breakfast proposed at rm 85. then if we book direct to the hotel, they will give breakfast.

Raya's Nights in Marang”
Good enough stay if you are just passing the town. But with a few kids in tow, the hotel does not provide enough distraction to keep both adult and kids happpy. The hotel should consider adding free wi-fi access in guest room instead of just limiting the access at the lobby. TV reception is very poor in the room and some of the channels are not available. The choice of food for breakfast should be increased to entice guests to take thier food in the hotel. But keep the price at a reasonable level.
