This is my second time I have been visited Japan since 7 years. Otaru is always in my top list of the city where I would like to spend overnight here. For the accommodation, Hotel Sonia Otaru is well-designed for interior and exterior architecture in european concepts. The room is not too small for 2-3 persons or family members to fit in. Also, Onsen where is located on the 7th floor facing with stunning view of Otaru Canal can help you feel relaxed from exploring around the city all day long. More importantly, it is quite easy to find food and drink nearby the hotel with 3-10 minute walk. However, the check-in time of this hotel is at 3 p.m., so you can drop your lugguages with the front desk and go for a walk if you arrive early. Personally, I will be back to visit this city and will definitely stay here again soon.

Clean, Value to your money.”
Room is big, beautiful and amazingly clean. Close to Otaru canel. You can see the canel from the window. perfect for guests who drive. But too far from the JR if you commute by the train with large luggage. Parking fee is quite high at 1200 yen/night, but they allowed me to park just right in front of the hotel. Love it. Thank you.

GREAT LOCATION, GREAT FACILITIES”
Location: It is far from Otaru station, but still can be reach by walking around 20mins without luggage, 30mis with luggage. However, it is right in front of otaru canal and 5-10mins walking to sakaimachi street which u will spend most of time there. Facilities: complete, u have all u need in the room. The room is spacious and pretty. Cons: 1 thing is weird, the hotel asked for 150/ 200yen i forgot per person, for bathing tax, which is for the first time in my life staying in japan with this regulation. Beside sonia otaru, also have NORD hotel which has the same rate. Duno if they have bathing tax. The exterior is prettier than sonia.

Newly built hotel facing Otaru Canal”
The room is very spacious and clean. We got the room that is facing the famous Otaru Canal so we woke up everyday with a great view! Bathroom was spotless and we loved the bath. There was no parking on site but a paid parking nearby, 1200 yen/night. The only downside was that we were asked to pay extra for the "onsen tax" whether we use the facility or not.

Went with my partner . 15mins walk from station ( with 5 luggages in snow, so it should be shorter under normal weather). Building looks new and the room is spacious. Love the outdoor onsen on the top floor!!!! Nice staff and we had the canal view. Lovely stay

Quite far from Otaru JR Station (Walk 15 mins) , but they have a nice and spacious room , they also have Onsen . The room is clean with big bed. The hotel is close to the canal . Please take note if you will needed to pay BATH TAX (even if you didnt use the ONSEN) 150JPY / person

everything is just very good as per standard of Mystays brand .... i have nothing to complain... one night there was a loud warning sound outside ... we called reception and he came very quick... we will go back ... restaurant for dinner is superb with excellent staff service ... coffee shop is also good and ice-cream is very nice .... only one min from the back of the hotel walking to Family Mart

the hotel is at its best location of otaru. the view of otaru cannal from our window was just breath taking. the staff is very pleasant. trust worthy as well, as i left something on the lobby counter. they send it to my room right away. hope to be able to come again. missing OTARU and SAPPORO very much already !

Hotel staffs are very nice and helpful. Room with twin beds is very comfortable compared to other similar size Japanese hotels. Large spa with open bath at top floor. Hotel is walking distance to restaurants and shops.

Location makes the difference between this hotel against the others. What’s more, the rooms are stylishly decorated and the interior is quite new. It would be better if the daily parking fee could be waived

Only stayed for a night & the hotel is situated right in front of the canal. It was my 2nd time there and the view was magnificient during the snow light festival however it was too crowded. The hotel has been refurbished & i would highly recommend this hotel!

Cons= parking quite expensive 1300 yen per night. Pros: my room faced the canal, which is a superb view and hotel is within walking distance from all the attractions.
