"Despite the -daunting- -not so pleasant- reviews, I decided to book the deluxe family room as it was one of the last available hotels left for the Good Friday Weekend. I decided to give it a shot and requested for Higher Level, Renovated Room as well as non-smoking room. I was pleasantly surprised as the room is big and nice! However, toilet is as reviewed, rather disappointing as it leaks, therefore the toilet floor is damp at all times. But this is still bearable as it is not soaking wet. Breakfast is very basic and not fantastic. If you are in JB for hotel breakfast, I will highly recommend Mutiara Hotel instead. The location is definitely not as good as KSL, Mutiara in terms of shopping nearby, but taxis are quite affordable, so you can just taxi- around. If not, by walking, KSL is 15-20minutes walk away. The nearest will be Pelangi Hotel which is about 10minutes walk away. Overall, if you are in a relaxed mood, and on a tighter budget, this is a place I would not mind recommending, though I would still prefer Mutiara over New York Hotel. But on in all, it's a good alternative to Mutiara Hotel. "

"It was a pleasent stay, good deco, courteouse staff, comfortable bed, relaxing enviroment. Location wise it is great, with all the great choise of food selectiom within walking distance of the hotel. Because of the location, traffic is hectic most if the time, so its best to take "Grab" out from Amari and meet your friend somewhere else, because it may take longer time for your frend to come pick you up with the hectic traffic. The pool view room window is way too close for comfort with the opposite apartment, literary can see into each others room clearly. The in room safe is not mounted down to something, and its lightweight enough for a teenager to just pick up the safe. For a 5 star hotel, these can be improve upon. The toilet mini soap holder and cup is the transpatent plastic type, which agian; for a 5 star hotel seems kinda odd. Pool is kinda small but nice, because its not always pack; so one can enjoy by the pool side relaxing. Overall, i would recommend to stay here for friends and relative. Above mention just play to personal prefferenfe and impression. For location, price, and reknown wise; Amari JB is a choise to look at for lodging in JB."

"First of all, the staff are amazing. Very friendly and professional. They work fast and give the best support to me. I like the location as it is in the middle of Johor Bahru, situated in between two of the best shopping malls in the city. Lots to see and do. The room is comfortable, fresh and clean. Though the bathroom could be better (a bit small and water pressure not so strong). Other than that, I highly suggest this hotel!"

"It’s about 5-10mins drive from CIQ/City Square. Nearest mall is Plaza Pelangi. Many local eateries, car wash & massage places along the stretch. We booked a standard room twin bedding. Room is well-furnished & contemporary stylish, equipped with Sony Bravia smart TV, water dispenser & bathroom amenities. Breakfast has a good selection of local choices & well furnished. Swimming pool is located on the 8th floor, rather small but for hangout under the sun is suffice. There’s an Irish pub & massage place at Level 1. We happened to bump into the operation director of the hotel, whom is friendly too. Will come back again & recommend for a short getaway."

"This is more like a boutique hotel near to Tmn Pelangi, practically Johore Bahru. The room is clean, and the ambient is comparable to a proper big hotel. The hotel collected deposit by cash (refundable) for the key (card - keyless entry). The staff by the name of Azizi is very friendly & helpful. He even sent message to me, asking 'bout my well-being at the hotel. They are working hard and give their best to accommodate our needs during this period, so a smile on your face and cooperation will definitely make their day! I saw some complaints 'bout the car park; not a problem for me. While I admit that the parking lot is a bit narrow and the car park building requires many rounds of careful turning to reach (Level 5 in particular), the car park itself is surely near to the reception lobby - just a < 1 min walking distance to the elevator of the hotel building that brings you to the reception. The sound proofing is relatively good - I had a good sleep. In short, I highly recommend it to anyone (or family) to stay here should you travel to JB. "

"Stayed for a night in their one bedroom, it was beyond my expectation and far best stay so far in Johor Bahru. Apartment is newly opened. The parking was quite safe and I can assure that - especially for Singaporeans who have second thoughts on parking their motorbikes in Johor Bahru. The security guards were very attentive, seen them doing round checks in the premises. The check in was swift and the rooms are really clean and comfortable. Check in time was at 3pm but we checked in way earlier around 2pm. Was issued a room key however it was not really ready when we were outside our room. Waited for 10 minutes to be in the room but it is fine for me. Location is good for solo travellers too as the hotel was just a walking distance to Komtar JBCC and City Square. There’s 7-11 convenient store just right at the hotel lobby in case you need to get something urgently. Now, the cons about the apartment was the parking you have to pay on your own. (It comes with a price I guess) And the major turn off - their housekeeper was very rude. Knocked the door several times at 10:45AM to tell us to check out when we clearly knew the check out time was 12PM. Leave that alone, the housekeeper repeatedly knocked the door again at 12PM SHARP. How intense was that. I dont remember requesting the front desk to get someone for my wake up call. She was also rude when we asked the other housekeeper to confirm the check out time. She gave us her unpleasant death stare and walked away when the other housekeeper was apologizing on her behalf. Very rude and unprofessional. I hope the management can look into this matter. Other than that, theres nothing much to point out. Will still give the 5 star rating! "

"Check In & Check Out : Quite Slow for some reasons? When I was there the system is down Im like wth is this a bank? Lol. But the friendly staff will calm you down anyway lol. Good job guys! Room : Very nice decor & setup. Executive vibe. Lighting is awesome. Shower : The best shower experience with the rain type of shower. However a small plasma tv is required on the bathroom pls? Breakfast : So good. Wide spread. Cheap. RM44 net per person for double tree thats awesome! Verdict : The best hotel in JB overall. Thistle is nice but the location is bad. Doubletree JB just killed it ;) "
