Tuk-Tuk to Khao San road is easy and in the Banglamphu area is plenty of cheap options for food and drinks as well as markets. You can walk to Khao San Rd by day but by night we used Tuk-Tuk due to traffic. The best option is to take the canal taxi and then walk, passing the old fort and Democracy monument.

This hotel is new and I am happy to say the staff are very helpful and professional. The rooftop pool is small but immaculate and plenty of lounge chairs. Located close to Khao San Road ,street food and restaurants makes this ideal. We booked a room with a canal view,not spectacular view but much better than most outlooks. this is my 4th stay here, and i'd like to say that it continues to satisfy my needs. i like the proximity of the hotel to other attractions like the grand palace, wat po, khaosan rd, and the democracy monument... all of these places can easily be accessed by foot. the rooms are roomy enough for a couple of people and are clean. the televisions are tiny, and you have...this is my 4th stay here, and i'd like to say that it continues to satisfy my needs. i like the proximity of the hotel to other attractions like the grand palace, wat po, khaosan rd, and the democracy monument... all of these places can easily be accessed by foot. the rooms are roomy enough for a couple of people and are clean. the televisions are tiny, and you have to pay extra for a safety deposit box. check in and check out times can be maddening. my advice is to avoid 11am-2pm if at all possible as you may be waiting in a long, slow moving line. all in all though, a great hotel for the budget-conscious traveller.

To be honest, I wasn't expecting much when I was booking to stay right on Khao San road. I was only staying for one night so I wanted to be close to the action of bars, markets and good food. Walk down stairs and the street is packed from mid afternoon only getting fuller into the night with food stalls, shopping, massages, and bars. I was surprised with the standard of the interior, this is something I'm fairly particular about. The hotel room was huge with a giant four poster king bed in the middle. Everything was very clean and nice. I had read reviews on this hotel being loud, my room was the very last room in the hallway right on Khao San road. I heard the music start at about 3pm. When I returned for bed at 11 I could hear it quite well but once I popped some ear plugs in, I slept like a baby. I would definitely go back to this hotel. I had such a great experience in bangkok due to booking this hotel in this location.

The staff were helpful, hotel was spotless and I would genuinely say we will come here again and tell all our friends. Only trade off is there isn't an easy restaurant to walk to. There is a 7-11 across the street but it closes about 4pm! But it wasn't a problem for us and the restaurant wasn't too badly priced. The wifi is strong in the room. You get an hour free and can pay for more. We debated the virtues of this as a couple. My fiancée is an avid googler and had a small period of adjustment....but if you're savvy, disciplined and log in and out every time you finish the specific task, download emails and read off line etc, then we found we could get by. One final comment is about the taxi to the airport. They charge you a fixed price of 500bht. This was mentioned in several reviews as somekind of conspiracy! Well it costs the driver 100bht each way in tolls and takes 45 mins to an hour depending on traffic. We had to sort our visa a few days before so made the same trip having hailed a metered taxi and then had to barter a price as meters are for trips within central Bangkok and they wanted to charge 600 bht. We got it for 500 in the end but then booked with the hotel for our 6am departure to save the hassle - taxi was there waiting for us and the bell-man carried our bags!! The breakfast was excellent - though some of the dishes could/ should be covered and a little warmer. The only downside was the volume of the air conditioning , which for both of us (one light and one heavy sleeper) was way too loud even on the lowest fan setting, which meant that we did not get a great nights sleep.

Room: we paid for a superior room which was lovely, the key you are given activates the lights and aircon, thus meaning the Aircon had not been on the room was around 30*c when we entered. Just like opening an oven door. Mini bar is quite expensive. Water is provided which is a great touch considering the humidity outside. Milk or creamer is not provided so we had to go and buy milk so we could have a cup of tea in the morning. Room service: ordered this on our second night after a full day of exploring, couldn't face going out. All I can say is amazing!! Ordered and arrived very quick, very reasonably priced for room service. Breakfast: our booking included breakfast, this is served between 6:30-10 in the main restaurant, good variety of food served from bacon and eggs to Thai curries etc. Wide selection of fruit. Only down side is that you don't get served anything, 3 members of staff stood behind bar but you have to do up and get your own coffee milk etc, I know you serve yourself at buffet for food but never stayed in hotel where you get your own coffee!! Coffee was very rarely ready and I feel it's not only me but coffee is the most important thing in the morning. Should I return to Bangkok I would stay at this hotel again.

Then they asked my wife if her name was Jennifer (it's not). Later had my wife asking "Who's Jennifer?" The water was never hot, just warm. When I asked the cleaning lady to give my wife and me 2 minutes, she said okay and just never cleaned the room. The sound on the TV didn't work for 2 days, after the first day a maintenance man was sent to check it but I have no idea what came of that because when we returned that day it still wasn't working. All and all, we loved our stay.

Kind of annoying but we found this standard unless you are at a fancy hotel/resort where there are more western style showers- But good water pressure/hot water- excellent rooftop pool/showers/bathroom- We used on our last day and they held our bags for us for the day (20 baht/day) since we had a late departure out of Bangkok- Just outside of reception is a adorable coffee shop- some of the best i had in Bangkok- and delicious breakfast sandwiches/fruit- 7-11 also right there for any other needs as well- If you are looking to stay on Khao San Road this is absolutely the place!!! 100% recommended

Steves cafe is a really must go place to eat when In Bangkok btw. And breakfast was so so good and the explain what everything is and the tradition etc. They even label the table for your room (after asking you what time you'd like breakfast when you arrived at check in). Everything is so easy and they help you and have book for places of interest etc. I was very happy with this place, I highly recommend a stay here!

I have just received an email saying I did not pay. This is what I wrote to Agoda Payment was made by Michael cash on desk. Had he not paid he would not have received his key. Nor would he have got his passport back if payment was not made. Michael had two bookings. Twice they are saying he had not paid. Seems strange as there was a day between both booking. This is unacceptable and I wonder who pocketed the money. Room keys in this hotel are only issued on payment for the room and either a deposit or passport handed in as insurance against damage. Passport was used and returned. Can you please sort this out.

Don't act like arrogant Eurotrash when you're checking in. we know you've had a long flight, your mosquito bites are itchy and your butt is sore. Realize these employees have to deal with 100s of people everyday. Being pleasant will get you much further than not. Don't deal with the Indian tailor right outside the door. His name is David and he is a thief and his clothes are inferior.

Trang's breakfast is not the yummiest but still offers several choices from western to thai/chinese food. Anyway, I recommend it, its in the center of the old city,20 min from Kao Shan on foot, 5 in Tuk-tuk, close to all the greatest temples of Bangkok and god you will enjoy the swimming pool after sight-seeing knowing the temperature peaks there!

The location is brilliant, it's 2 minutes from the main activity (Khosan Road)The location to the airport is about 30 minutes drive (between an hour to hour and halfd during rush hour)

let me store my excess baggage when i left for 2 weeks and didn’t charge even though i had agreed to. took care of my booking to Cambodia with no pressure for upgrades or the sale at all , unlike competitors. in fact i wish they booked my train/ boat to Koh Tao as the agent i did book with didn’t reimburse when the transportation from train did not show up at 2 am and ...let me store my excess baggage when i left for 2 weeks and didn’t charge even though i had agreed to. took care of my booking to Cambodia with no pressure for upgrades or the sale at all , unlike competitors. in fact i wish they booked my train/ boat to Koh Tao as the agent i did book with didn’t reimburse when the transportation from train did not show up at 2 am and the boat was scheduled for 6 am. i had to book a hotel and miss my boat then buy additional boat tickets and taxi to pier. when i got no compensation as agreed upon i knew i would only book from villa cha cha next time. and i did.

I'd say this place exceeded my expectations, I've stayed in some boutique hotels which, while having great decor and facilities, still feel like a "hotel". But the atmosphere and staff at Bangkok Publishing Residence give you a very cozy and intimate feeling, while the overall decor and amenities feel luxurious but not pretentious. I especially love the rooftop gar...I'd say this place exceeded my expectations, I've stayed in some boutique hotels which, while having great decor and facilities, still feel like a "hotel". But the atmosphere and staff at Bangkok Publishing Residence give you a very cozy and intimate feeling, while the overall decor and amenities feel luxurious but not pretentious. I especially love the rooftop garden where they grow the most delicious salad I've had in years! I'll surely comeback the next time I'm in Bangkok!

Hotel is situated behind soi which have really cheap local Thai food ranging from about 50thb. Phuket is indeed expensive and the average prices are 100-200thb. The next best restaurant is called PhukeTurk. Cheap and tasty. The night receptionist is really friendly and welcoming. The rooms perfectly clean and have all the amenities for long stay....
