Tonsai Bay Resort lives up to its' pictures. We were in a room in the main building and overlooked the palm grove which we saw monkeys frolicking in a few times. Room, building, and grounds were kept clean and tidy. Breakfast buffet was okay - not outstanding, but not bad either. Breakfast buffet was okay - not outstanding, but not bad either. There were a few shops within the resort area which made things convenient - beach bar, wash (laundry), extra water, massage, rock climbing, and at the top back of the resort you could get to the village which had other restaurants, shops, and a few food carts. Tonsai Beach area is laid back, quiet, and basic. If you are expecting high-end, Railay might be more your choice, but Tonsai was perfect for us and the resort exceeded our expectations.

Tonsai has only bars with a strong alternative vibe, reaggae music and rural atmosphere. The beach is full of dead corals and rocks and the tide ist very strong, so half of the day there is no water. Because of land speculation (2014?) the've torn down all the bars by the beach and built a wall all around town. I was quite shocked when I arrived. But the climbers didnt give up. The wall is full of cool graffiti now and it's still the most relaxing place. The Dream Valley is the only resort with a pool and some kind of luxury at Tonsai. We had a deluxe bungalow with garden view, which we loved very much. The new bungalows by the pool are more popular, but they are just made of wood, what means, during the day they get hot very fast (there's no electricity and no ac between 11am and 4pm) and at night you can hear the reaggae music of the bars behind. The staff of the resort was very friendly and made us feel welcome. Breakfast is very good.

The Moutain View Resort was for us an excellent option for stay in Tonsai. The place is pleasant, just in the foot of the mountain with nice gardens and close to the nature. The view from the balcony was very cool. We feel very well there. It is quiet compared to others in the middle of the village or to that close to the beach. It is quiet compared to others in the middle of the village or to that close to the beach. We would stay only for one night and decided to stay for 4 nights. Our room had a bathroom inside. Although have small issues (like a water spill in the sink), it was clean and totally functional (no hot water). The bed was comfortable and the linen was clean. The room has functional mosquito's net in the windows. No mosquitos or lizards (what will not be a problem for us) inside. Like most of the options in Tonsai, the power works only at night, what was not a problem for us, as we prefer to explore the wonderfull places around instead of stay in the room. We went to visit some less expensive options and they were pretty more rustic. If you are prone to, it would be an option. For us was too much rustic for the moment, but it would be ok in other situations. The most expensive options in Tonsai may have the advantage of having power full time and breakfast included. Regarding the last, we prefered to enjoy a different option of breakfast each day. There are several in the village. Concluding, if you prefer a more sofisticated option, go to the most expensive ones in Tonsai or go to Railay. Having in mind that Tonsai village is a very rustic spot, the Mountain View is a very good option. We enjoy and recommend it. Ah, the reception staff was very kind, peacefull and helpfull, all the time.

Green Valley Resort is a great place to base out of here in Tonsai Beach with the best restaurant in the area at the foot of the path leading to your bungalow.
